Comments about Martin DC-16OGTE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

a sweet look,
a sweet sound.
a sweet price.
a sweet deal.

...nuff said.
i traded in my martin 00-15, an all mahoghany wood axe. it sounded great but i wanted something brighter and with more natural boom.

after checking out so many other models and makers for a dreadnought, i figured that i should checkout the makers of the original dreadnought, c.f. martin guitars. i finally tried this dc-16ogte with the recommendation by the shop owners. i immediately felt the sound, quality, tone, and boom was just what i was looking for and the price range couldn't be beat.

the ovangkol coupled with the rosewood wedge on the back gives it both an unigue look and an even greater sound/tone.

i preferred it to some of the higher end guitars that martin makes.
martin craftsmanship can be seen, felt, heard, and smelt.

Comments about Martin DC-16OGTE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Ordered new. Came with bad top coat blemish. Went to Martin Factory. Customer service is Stellar! They treat you like family. Guitar refinished. Been performing with this guitar hard for 5 months. It is incredible! I am a musician of 30 years. This is a forever guitar and the sound keeps getting better as I play it. Though some times it's a bit too warm for some songs so I have to ajust the Roland pre amp to get some bite out of it. The Pre amp is good but be prepared to turn your volume up alot on your power mixer or amplifier. output is low. And if the guitar suddenly sounds terrible through your amp, check the battery, I noticed low battery effects the Rolands out put.

Great guitar for the price.

By Playing4Him-hi-Xl

from Austin TX

Comments about Martin DC-16OGTE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar new. The finish was flawless and the tone was all Martin. I play straight rhythm chords almost exclusively so I can't honestly rate the action. I do find it easy to play whether strumming or finger picking. The only thing I don't like about the guitar are the Roland electronics. They don't have the a very strong output signal. After playing a Martin DX with an external Fishman preamp or my Yamaha A/E 12-string the sound tech had to really crank the gain on the sound board before attaining the same output level. Overall I really do like the guitar. Great looks and Martin tone at this price is a good value.

Martin DC-16 OGTE

By ANDREW GRAHAM

from Germany

Comments about Martin DC-16OGTE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have played a lot of acoustics in this price range, to include Taylor, but this guitar is the best acoustic I have ever played. It amazes me everytime I pick it up and strum a chord. It just rings like a bell. I havent even plugged it in yet, it sounds too good unplugged. Recommend using the Martin 4100 strings like advertised. I am now forever a fan of Martin.

A wolf in sheeps clothing

By Canegrinder

from Middleburg, Fl.

Comments about Martin DC-16OGTE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

That is the way I would describe this guitar. I own several guitars including a D-28 martin. I used to play the D-28 daily but now I have changed my habits to play the DC-160. This guitar has a soft mellow voice that is a pleasure to listen to with or without amplification. I am totally blown away by the ease of playability of this guitar. I would buy another if I could.

Comments about Martin DC-16OGTE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Of the acoustic/electric guitars I have played and owned most of them have either a good electric sound or a better acoustic voice but the DC16OGTE truly does sound great either acoustically or amplified. This guitar will not disappoint.

Comments about Martin DC-16OGTE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

There aren't words strong enough to describe my satisfaction with this guitar. It plays superbly, has great tone and is a true pleasure to play.

The electronics are good, but I don't use them enough to really speak to that. I usually play it in a non-amp'd environment.

Bottom line, I've played most of the really expensive acoustic guitars out there over my life (I'm 61) and this guitar represent a tremendous value.

I was worried about the black micarta fretboard, but I have to say that I really like it. I don't feel like I've lost anything at all. After I started playing this guitar I actually felt a bit faster and I think it's due to the black micarta fretboard.

If you've looked for a great sounding, great playing guitar, but didn't want to pop for a high-end Gibson, Martin, etc., then this is the guitar for you!

Excellent sound and playability

By Thomas playing guitar for over 40 years

from Asia

Comments about Martin DC-16OGTE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Agree with everything said on this board, with only one exception. I use a Roland acoustic amp, (Acoustic Chorus AC-60), and when plugged in with DC-16, the sound is way louder than the ones with a Fishman pickup installed, like on my Martin D-35, or the factory pickup on my Larrivee. Can't explain why it is so, and have not plugged my DC-16 into other brands of amps. Will take heed of the warnings next time when performing on stage with DI output to other brands of mixers and amps. One other thing, the Martin factory setup of my DC-16 on higher frets seems a bit high, verses all my other guitars. While it does give out a bright tone, and the neck when visally examined seems very straight, it does get into the way when playing high notes sometimes.
