Comments about Martin HD-16R LSH Acoustic Guitar:

I owned one for a few days. It was truly a beautiful, well-made Martin. I thought it would be exactly what I had been looking for in an acoustic guitar. The first impression was that the neck just did not "feel right" for my hand. I know that this is an individual thing, everyone has to decide that for themselves. The particular neck profile combined with the rather wide nut seemed to flatten my hand too much without filling it, making for hand fatigue after a long session. The other thing that I noticed was a lack of bass response with the large sound hole. I will say that the guitar had a beautiful, rich tone, but not exactly what I was searching for. I returned the guitar and purchased a Martin HD-16R Adirondack, and found that the modified "V" neck shape combined with the wide nut fit my hand much better. It also has the bass response that I wanted. Again, these are subjective things, so to each his own. Both models are wonderful Martins. Both are a lot of guitar for the money.

Comments about Martin HD-16R LSH Acoustic Guitar:

    I've owned a dozen Martin guitars over the years always looking for that "sound." I've had a 60's D28, 70's D28, 80's D28, 80's D28P, 70's D 18, 80's D18 and a 90's D18. I've ultimately sold them all.

I had given up on finding what I was looking for and took a gamble on this. I could not be more pleased. It is a beautiful guitar. I love the finish and the wood. It is one of the loudest, fullest Martin's I've ever played. I think the large soundhole makes all the difference.

I've had access to a few pre-wars over the years. Now this guitar isn't as nice as those, but it will outplay any modern D18/D28 or those of recent vintage and it is a much better value. I would recommend this to anyone.

I haven't recorded with it yet but I think it would be perfect for that. Cuts well in a group setting. Loud and you can pick it out in the mix.

    Martin 1973 d-35 worth 3,800

Comments about Martin HD-16R LSH Acoustic Guitar:

    I own a 1973 Martin d-35, 37 years old best sound you could ask for. Then I played a H D 16 L S H, and I was blown away. I'd trade it in for the H D 16 L S H. For a straight up trade, with a cash difference in price given to me.

    Great,great and great

Comments about Martin HD-16R LSH Acoustic Guitar:

I've owned this now for several days. I put it up against Gibsons and Taylors around the same price range. I played higher priced Martins but couldn't justify the extra cost. I didn't want an electric. If I want that, I'll put my own system in it. Took the guitar out of the case, changed the strings and sat down for about a 3 hr. playing session. I grinned more than a few times. It sounds beautiful and is one of the smoothest guitars I've ever played and the sustain is amazing. Very easy to fall in love with this after a short time. The 4.5 in quality is for the tuners. I might replace them with grover golds. That's it. The build quality is second to none. A truly hi-end guitar at a great price. The kind of music I play is Croce, Beatles, Bread, Diamond...(you get it)If any thing happened to this, I'd buy another one immediately.

The best God damn guitar I've ever owned!

    By D. Mc

    from Fort Worth, Texas

Comments about Martin HD-16R LSH Acoustic Guitar:

I purchased my Martin HD-16R LSH in June of '07. Insignificant. The tone is incredible. The set-up, was what I expected. I had been in the market for a new accoustic for 3 years. I played dozens of guitars...including Martins. Finally, I saw the HD-16R LSH liked the looks and took a chance. If I didn't like it I could return it. Well, that's it. I know longer need an accoustic guitar...EVER! I found my mate. Thanks Martin. Thanks Musician's Friend.

    Amazing

Comments about Martin HD-16R LSH Acoustic Guitar:

I went into the guitar store to check out the 314 and 414 taylors, but I saw this beauty in the corner of my eye so I had to pick it up. The first note resonated throughout the room as loud as the amped taylor. The sustain was just magnificent. No electronics, but it sounds so good and so beautiful, a mic will certainly do.

Comments about Martin HD-16R LSH Acoustic Guitar:

Played this guitar two weeks ago and again last week and today. I am definately going to purchase it. I've played guitar for about 35 years and have tried most varities of acoustics, electrics and everything in between. This is the best sounding guitar I have ever heard. Simple affordable beauty. BIGGEST BANG FOR THE BUCK. Try one on and you'll most likely agree. well... maybe. Every one has one... opinion that is. I will own one very soon. If you are shopping for something new, check it out.

    First review on here!

Comments about Martin HD-16R LSH Acoustic Guitar:

This is a great guitar. I think this guitar fits what many people look for - bang for your buck. The guitar does not sound like your typical martin dread. It is LOUD and balanced with a beautiful rich tone. A lot of dreads have blaring bass and this does not. Not to confuse, this definitely has the bass but it also has the mids and highs as well. This guitar can do well strumming and finger style because of this balance. Not many dreads can do that.I gave the guitar a rating fo 4 for features because it just a basic guitar with a large sound hole that give it a great sound.I gave it a ranting of 4.5 for quality because it was not perfect. I found a tiny pencil point dimple in the head stock and a tiny black mark on the binding. I got the guitar direct pick-up from martin not from store. These little imperfections are nothing.Lastly the guitar got a 5.0 for value. The guitar is great for what you pay.Overall, a 4.5 is a great rating. I think 5 should rarely come along.
