A few years back I sold my `67 D-35 "Brazilian" after thirty five years and finally having come to grips to grips with the fact I`d never play like Doc Watson. A few years after that "guitar withdrawal" set in and I picked up a new OM 21. What a sweet little guitar, albeit with a sweet big voice. I love this thing!
The size is perfect and the guitar projects almost as well as the D-35 did.
I considered the OM-28v as it`s a bit fancier but could detect no difference in the sound and couldn`t justify the added cost.

THE OM21 IS A PERFECT MATCH FOR THE CHANGES MADE TO 2012 D18. I love the 1 3/4 nut width. The 000 body size makes this guitar perfect for song writing but it has the depth and power of dreadnaught. I agree with Dick Boak who works for Martin, he says that the om21 is the best Martin made for the cost.

Athough I've only owned the guitar for a week or so, it met all of my expectations. No complaints! Would make same purchase again!!
I recently purchased an 0M-21 after several months of debate. I already own a Martin HD-28, D-18, a low end PA series. My son has a 000-28. I initially purchased a 000-18 but returned it because it didn't sound as I expected, although it had a great sound, just different! The 0m-21 sounds and looks great! It is warm with a nice, deep tone and simply keeps on ringing when played. To me it sounds better than my son's 000-28, but it's not quite as pretty because it lacks the 28 style binding, etc... What matters to me is the sound, and it's there! It sounds as good as my HD-28 but not quite as loud and a lot more comfortable to play, as I'm not a large man. That's what I was hoping for and I got it. I absolutely love it!! Having played the 000-21 and the 000-28, I would purchase the 0M-21 again in a heartbeat!
As with any Martin that I have purchased, the quality is there!!

After several months of decision making, this was the guitar I chose. I have no regrets. The pure tone and naturally balanced sound is unmatched by many guitars even at a higher price-point. The sound is very flexible from finger style to light to medium strumming. If you need a bass-centered sound or need to cut through a-lot of other instruments however, this isn't the guitar for you.

I've owned my OM21 since 1994, a 1994 build. If you like fingerstyle, the 1 3/4 neck width at the nut is ideal. The tone of the rosewood/spruce combination is rich, and subtle. If you need a really loud strummer, I suggest going to a Dreadnought, but the OM can be strummed to medium loudness without issue. With minimal adornment, you have the best of what a Martin can provide, but don't have to pay for the extras. I give this guitar top honors, and is an heirloom quality instrument.
