Phenomenal Value

Comments about Martin OMC16GTE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I originally bought a Taylor 414ce; sounded great until I plugged it. Shortly afterwards, I returned it and got the Martin. HOLY COW, what a difference! I recorded a short track (everything flat; and the guitar, I scooped the mids a little) and listened to it twice. I won't be using a compressor/limiter, no harmonic exciters, no graphic or parametric EQs, no modulation effects, etc... it simply doesn't need it~!! I don't know if I just lucked out and got an exceptional guitar or they all sound an play like that because there was only one in the store. I strummed one chord and fell in love with the guitar. Playing it for a few minutes only confirmed my initial impulse. If all OMC-160GTEs sound and play the same, these guitars are ridiculously undervalued. BUY THIS GUITAR!! You will NOT be disappointed.

unlimited potential...

Comments about Martin OMC16GTE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

First off, let me say that iv'e owned and played tons of different acoustic guitars.Taylor and Martin???their just different. The OMC model in general is a guitar i've had my eye on for a while.Well guess what, now it's affordable without sacrificing quality.micarta fret board and sapele back and sides sound great. In fact i challlenge anyone to a blind test to solid mahaghony vs. sapele. (i was very skeptical myself). as with any guitar the proof is in the pudding and this thing has deep lows defined mids and sparkling high's.Since it is brand new you will have to wait for it to open up a bit.I just slapped some elixer light's on it, tuned it a half step down and im in hog heaven. Not to mention the on board tuner and effects iv'e yet to play with.great buy, know it's gotta open up over time, and go for it...

Comments about Martin OMC16GTE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

just got this gem today. ive had a taylor 714ce roughly $2700 guitar. Im not gonna tell you that this sounds as good or better than that. But, its not worse sounding in tone, just different. bass to treble is distinct and crisp, not muddy at all tried out the 1 series omc. not bad but doesn't touch this. definitely worth every penny. hope this helps

Not Thrilled

Comments about Martin OMC16GTE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I recommend you try this Martin, but I'm returning it.I have owned and played many guitars, and I am shopping for a versatile acoustic/electric with a 1 3/4 inch nut. I have recently strummed several new Martins, Taylors and other brands in stores. Liked similar Martin models so I took a chance on the OMC-16GTE. I am partial to Martin Guitars. The the finish and construction were superb and the guitar is beautiful. The size of the guitar was a perfect fit. I didn't like the feel of the Richlite finger board though, and I may need more stock in the neck. This was a low oval, similar to another Martin I own, so maybe I was too quick on judging that.I expected more volume unplugged and the neck was not comfortable for me.This Martin was simply missing that wow factor when I played it. Hey, guitars are like that. Sometimes they speak to you and sometimes they don't. I picked up a Martin DM years ago. It is a plain and simple value Martin with a sound that knocks your socks off. After a professional set up, it rivals its pricier siblings, that's for certain. Same story with a Telecaster I recently bought - knew it was mine after the first bend.

Comments about Martin OMC16GTE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The sound is absolutely amazing. A rich, full sound that delivers well on bass notes as well as mid and highs. I bought it in America and then brought it home to the UK. I played at medium sized venues (400-500), and I lent it to a friend who played in larger venues (2000-3000) in London, but during sound check the pickup essentially quit after a loud cracking noise coming from the guitar.
I tried solving by contacting Musicians Friend who told me to contact Martin (in the USA!) and then Roland.. I then went into a certified Martin Dealer in Central London who called every which way in the USA and was told that I would have to send the guitar BACK to America to Roland who could sort the pickup. Shipping alone would cost hundreds and hundreds of pounds.

It's ridiculous, really, and it's been 4 years with NO solutions.
