Comments about Martin Performing Artist Series GPCPA5 Grand Performance Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Any of the Performing Artist series instruments that I have played have all been pretty good. Not sure where the negative ratings would come from. The Martins stay in tune and play very well. Other brands cheaper lines don't come close. Also the more expensive Martins are only slightly better. I don't own a guitar that I have more than seven hundred invested. I have had several people go spend twice that attempting to get the sound of my CHEAP MARTIN.

Comments about Martin Performing Artist Series GPCPA5 Grand Performance Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is a rebuttal to Jean Luc somewhat half truths, true in the year 2016, a low end price for a high end quality Martin Guitar 2k is a fair assessment, and I base this on 1979 a D35-S cost 750.00 --- D18 a bit more, that's almost 40 years ago, inflation !
in 1987 a Taylor 600 series? 1800. that company was failing, beautiful guitar, wasn't as loud as the Martin,
perhaps Jean Luc he did get a lemon ---however, you living close to Nazareth is nor here nor there. hindsight is still only 20/20 at best, first complaint is 'Poor Construction' the white or black sticker on the inside where the model is listed, right below it say's ( 'Made In Mexico' ) but experience is the best teacher.
'Then the String Theory, it almost sounds like you use a micrometer screw gauge? 'nearly unplayable although the guitar kept good intonation' whats left?
I purchased a Taylor Big Baby from here, wanted to experience the rave, I liked the neck, I gave it away. the guitar it was inspected in California. that got me thinking, one per truck load?
came across a young man with a larger version Taylor with the right strings they sound fantastic! he didn't realize it didn't have a frame.
If I were on a wooden boat without a frame, intuitively I understand it's a matter of time for the conditions to work against this very fact.
Bottom Line: never been a better time to buy a Martin.

Comments about Martin Performing Artist Series GPCPA5 Grand Performance Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Haven't had good luck with any Martin under $2000. The action came through 9/64 +, considerably above the advertised spec, nearly unplayable, although the guitar kept good intonation. There's no listing of from the vendor or company website as to the country of origin. I bought this guitar knowing it was made in Mexico, which was inconsequential to the purchase, but found it odd Martin doesn't list that. Sent it back for a Taylor, which came out of the box to company specs and Taylor is very up front about their Mexican made guitars. I live close to Nazareth PA, wanted a Martin, but not enough of an acoustic player to drop the cash for consistent construction. I've had several over the last few years same problems.

Comments about Martin Performing Artist Series GPCPA5 Grand Performance Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this open box and then an additional 10% off. I could find nothing wrong with it and it has everything I wanted: Shape, solid wood top, pickup, tuner, etc. I'll need to get it set up sometime since it buzzes a little on the high E if I strum it really hard. Isn't as loud acoustically as some of my other guitars, but I usually play too loud anyway. Wouldn't mind if the tuner & buttons were a little different in function but I love the simple look of the little circular knobs. For the price of this Martin you can't beat it!
