Comments about Martin Road Series 2015 DRSGT Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar is amazing. The action and truss rod came perfectly adjusted right off the bat and this guitar plays and sounds like a dream. I had some doubts about the sound quality when it is plugged in, but hooked up to even a small amplifier the sound is breathtakingly clear. The trebles, basses and mids are perfectly balanced and the factory Martin SP strings are like butter to play. I have played far more expensive guitars that did not even come close to the quality, tonal and aesthetic, of this wonderful guitar. I am incredibly pleased with Martin and their lineup of instruments and would HIGHLY recommend this to a friend.

1st one received had shipping damage MF immediately set-up return, inspected and super packed another and shipped immediately. This is not only a great instrument but MF customer policies are the best in this line of business. Probably why I buy so much from them

I love the look and feel of my new Martin guitar, it's much easier to play than my last guitar (unknown brand). I'm already practicing more almost every day, because it's more fun to play and the sound is also quite good.

Comments about Martin Road Series 2015 DRSGT Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

First the good stuff. The guitar sounds really good to me, natural and plugged in. Nothing but compliments from people who hear it. I think it has good note separation and is responsive to my touch, both picking and strumming. It seems to be very sturdy and I feel confident taking out to gigs. It is a nice looking guitar, not too plain, nor too dressy. I think it is appropriately modest and the gloss top is a nice touch. Because of the sound hole controls you will need to cut a suitably sized hole in your feedback buster, if you use one.

Not my preference stuff. The neck is a tad narrower than I like. This wouldn't be much of an issue except the edge at the fretboard is pronounced. Coupled with the soft v profile of the neck it can be uncomfortable at times, but nothing I can't deal with. I would prefer the controls not be in the sound hole. The wires inside came loose after a couple of days and I had to reach in and re-stick them to the guitar. I figured I would need to do this, but not after only a couple of days. No problems since then, but it's only been a few weeks.

Now the not so good. I felt like I needed to return the first one since it had a "hump" at the 12th fret. Really, it was a dip as the fretboard sank away with the body, a classic dehydrated guitar situation. I felt like that was not appropriate for the money I was paying. I was not satisfied with the service I received from MF during that process. The replacement was pretty much the same, but the guitar sounded noticeably better and the problem wasn't causing any fret buzz, so I decided to keep it and try to re-hydrate the guitar myself, rather than go through another experience with MF. It hasn't worked, so far, and the issue persists. Since this is a product review the lost star is not for MF, but for Martin. I expect better from them. I have since noticed examples in guitar stores than do, and do not, have the same defect on this same model.

Overall, the guitar is working out fine for me.

Comments about Martin Road Series 2015 DRSGT Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've been a Takamine guy for many years (the Japanese made models, specifically the black EF341SC and also the John Jorgenson signature) and do own a Gibson dreadnought with Baggs dual source pickup, so I've owned some decent acoustics. I've also performed live for many years. I am extremely pleased with this Martin DRSGT and although it doesn't look as fancy as the Taks it is now my go-to guitar. Out of the box the action/setup was very good (I would say the action is medium to medium low, definitely not low) but low enough that I can solo with no problems all the way up the neck. The medium Martin Lifespan SP strings sound fantastic (I usually play D'addario Lights). A little extra wear on the fingers (being used to lights...) but the tone is so wonderful, lots of sustain on this guitar as well, just blows my other acoustics away. Plugged in the sound is definitely that piezo sound but but not a lot of quack. Compared to my old Taks with the palathetic piezo pickups and fancy preamps, the Martin actually sounds slightly better plugged in using the Fishman Sonitone pickup. I think the piezo's still sound like, well a piezo, but they sound better than they did 10 years ago so I think the technology has improved a bit. The thing smells GREAT too, call me crazy but that "new wood" smell is just awesome. I got my DRSGT on sale for a couple hundred off and I feel I got a great deal for a Martin guitar with solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides with a pickup without breaking the bank on a D-28 or higher end model. Killer deal and couldn't be more pleased. Just wished they made this in sunburst or shaded top, I'd buy a second one for sure.

Comments about Martin Road Series 2015 DRSGT Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Most all brands of guitars have unique sounds according to what one is looking for *( listening for ), and therefore each to his own. On this particular guitar above, the Martin DRSGT, for the money, it is totally awesome. Yes you will play, hear and feel a difference in more costly guitars, even Martins. However for the price, I would recommend this guitar, especially since it was on sale, with another 20% discount. I got an awesome buy.

Comments about Martin Road Series 2015 DRSGT Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar has the distinct Martin tone, took it to my luthier for his opinion. He put a mirror in the soundhole and remarked it looked like a Taylor inside (in terms of craftsmanship). The cheap plastic battery cover on the preamp would rattle on plucking the low E but an down the fretboard. Tried tape to dampen things but it didn't work. MF accepted the return with no questions asked. I ended up with with one of Yamaha's FG180 reissues instead, another very fine dreadnaught.
