Designed for working and traveling guitarists on a modest budget.

The Martin DRS1 Dreadnought Left-Handed Acoustic-Electric Guitar marks the return of Martin's Road Series, which was originally introduced in 2001, designed for working and traveling guitarists on a modest budget, who require their instrument to be durable without giving up the quality of its sound.

The top, back and sides are crafted of solid sapele and braced for resonance and projection. The DRS1 neck is built with multilaminate Stratabond for extra rigidity and durability, and the belly bridge and fingerboard are made of Richlite that achieves a similar look to ebony.

This DRS1 comes equipped with the Fishman Sonitone sound reinforcement system, which has a preamp mounted in the soundhole with rotary controls for volume and tone. The Sonitone is powered by a 9 volt battery and has an end-pin jack. Includes case.

Sapele Martin is superb

Comments about Martin Road Series DRS1 Dreadnought Left-Handed Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Quality is perfect...no messy glue inside....perfect key placement....actually the sapele sounds like a mahogony Martin and half the price. The sound is very Martin...musical, sweet...ya gotta hear it to apprecitate the amazing value here....I compared a Breedlove, Taylor and Epiphone and this was the most full bodied / musical of them.
I bought a Martin DSR 1 Last Christmas because I wanted a lower cost acoustic to play at my daughters house for my NEW grandson.

I have a Gibson Jumbo Acoustic circ 1935 re-issue and a Taylor 355 12 string and I wanted a " knock" around acoutic.

Sapele......HUH...I did not know what this was until my local guitar expert put this guitar in my hands.
What a wonderful suprise.....full Martin musical range...balanced...perfect low, mid & high tonal balance.
Neck is that stratabond and is smooth....easy to play...richlite neck & bridge.....I've been playing since I was 12 years old and this is one of the best discoveries I have had in guitars.

Play it everyday now....I can leave it out of the case with no fear of nicks, scratches.....and it seems to get better out of the case.... it's breaking in quickly....I looked at many guitars more expensive and less...this is the best choice for the money and it's ALL WOOD top, sides and back......Nice suprise from Martin.
Beautifil guitar right out of the case....no adjustments or string change needed
best value in this price range compared to Taylor, Gibson/Epiphone, Breedlove.
