Martin

A comfortable size with solid tonewoods and tasteful appointments.

A true traditional 000 acoustic guitar with a shorter 24.9" scale and appointments that match Martin's D-18 dreadnought. The shorter scale yields a lighter, more delicate feel to the string action. The 000-18 has solid mahogany back and sides, Sitka spruce top, polished gloss finish and a hand-fit dovetail neck joint, producing a slightly brighter tone than its East Indian rosewood counterpart, the 000-28. This is the perfect guitar for the intermediate and advanced player. The 000-18 includes deluxe Martin hardshell case.

Comments about Martin Standard Series 000-18 Acoustic Guitar:

I bought the 000-18 new in 1969, loved it for 5 years, liked it for another 5, and played it little for the next 35 years. I keep hoping I'm going to start liking it again, but I find myself playing my Yamaha dreadnoughts and 12 strings (awesome!), my cheap Ovation, my Guild classicals, and my other classicals instead. All of these were purchased used for 8 to 22 times less than the 000-18. I'm a value guy and, though I have played many fine Martin guitars, unfortunately mine isn't one of them. I wouldn't recommend a friend make the investment unless he or she played the individual guitar he intended to purchase and loved the sound.

Comments about Martin Standard Series 000-18 Acoustic Guitar:

I bought my first Martin in 1978 and have been a loyal Martin owner ever since. I purchased this 000-18 after learning about Martin upgrading the 18 series from a mahogany neck and bridge to ebony. I was quite excited in anticipation of a perfect body size with the enhancement of a faster ebony board. Unfortunately this guitar played great but fell short in the dynamic sound department. It was just awful. I am very disappointed that this particular axe made it out of the Martin factory. I have been to visit the holly grail of guitar making in Nazareth, PA twice and would go again tomorrow if it wasn't 3000 miles away. Truly great people committed to making a guitar for your and your children's lifetime. This poor guy was just a dud. I sent it back to Musicians Friend no questions asked. The customer support at MF is amazing and I will purchase from them again.

    000-18 review

    By jimmy wroten

    from Meadville, MS

Comments about Martin Standard Series 000-18 Acoustic Guitar:

The nstrument looked and played great, and it sounded good also, just not exactly what I was hoping for, therefore I returned it for another Martin product!
I recentlly purchased a Martin 000-18 after much consideration. Upon recieving the guitar it looked and sounded great, but simply didn't have the sound that I was hoping for. My son and I already own a Martin D-18, HD-28, and 000-28. While the guitar sounded fantastic and had adequate volume, I was hoping for a slightly warmer, less brassy sound. I returned it to Musicians Friend and swapped it for another model. I guess I was hoping for a sound similar to my HD-28 in a smaller sized guitar. This was not the model for that.
The instrument met every expectation as far as quality and appearance, as I would expect no less from the Martin company. The issue I had with the instrument was directly related to a specific sound I was hoping to obtain.
Recvieved an additional 15% discount. Certainly worth the money if the guitar has the sound that is desired.

    Soft and Lovely

    By Peter Hyatt

Comments about Martin Standard Series 000-18 Acoustic Guitar:

The 000-18 has the most beautiful soft mahogany sound to it. For any fans of mahagony, little is needed to be said. For fingerstyle, it has a very special sound to it; and is wonderful for acoustic blues. It is a no frills guitar, with all expense in the instrument itself. It is beautiful in its simplicity. I have a picture of Bob Dylan playing the 000-18 in 1970. It for for fingerstyle folk and blues. I love it for fingerpicking Christmas tunes and use it every day in practice. The sound is soft and it is beautiful. This is a great guitar for the cost.

    Beautiful Tone

Comments about Martin Standard Series 000-18 Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar radiates with beautiful tone! One gets the impression that this tone is in the wood of the guitar, eager to come out, wanting wholeheartedly to please appreciative ears. Play an E on the third or fourth strings and you will hear the most beautiful vibrations ever created. Magnificent!

    All around favorite

Comments about Martin Standard Series 000-18 Acoustic Guitar:

I own a number of very fine guitars (Martins, Taylors, Alvarez-Yairi) and this guitar is the finest in my collection. Note: I do own a 1955 000-18 so it's mellowed through the years! This is one fine guitar with great mellow sound, easy to play. It has a bit smaller body than some other guitars, but does not lack on sound. Very rich. You'll love this guitar!

    Review

    By Mr. Dealio

Comments about Martin Standard Series 000-18 Acoustic Guitar:

I've owned this guitar of around 5 years own and my only complaint is that it's neck just dosen't feel right to me I'm pretty sure its a C shape but it's really thin and makes bar chords difficult. Its sound is really bluesy, its not that good for modern stuff in my opinion its more raw blues and light rock to it. Its also a martin and martins always have a sound of their own. I'd rather have a D-28.

Beautiful Small Body Guitar With Great Sound

    By Disastermx

    from Ft. Washington, PA

Comments about Martin Standard Series 000-18 Acoustic Guitar:

I was going to buy a D-18 and the night before I was going to my local music store, I was noodling around at a different store and played this OOO. It was so loud I made up my mind that night and bought it. It is great, comfortable, loud, with a balanced tone, playes well all the way up the neck, and ym only complaint is that I like ebony more than rosewood. Get this guitar, you will be happy.
