Redesigned neck to offer a slimmer, faster profile.

The Martin D-28P Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar features the High Performance Neck found on Martin's popular Performing Artist series guitars, redesigned to offer a slimmer, faster profile and more comfortable spacing in the first frets and faster action as the player moves up the fingerboard. The bridge spacing has been increased as well to provide more hand comfort when resting on the bridge.

The D-28P is constructed of East Indian rosewood on the back and sides that provides this model with the bass response and tonal projection that makes the D-28P the first choice for acoustic musicians.

Comments about Martin Standard Series D-28P Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Wow-took her out of the case and proceeded to change to .010 strings. Big mistake! I assumed that I would need to fine tune the 28 like I did on the D-16 but I was wrong. 013's (factory specs) are the way to go. Kiss the FEDEX driver, open the box and case, tune her, and feel the sound of an amazing guitar. Right on tuning with the Grover's, combined with the the slim neak are a plus...then the sound! I love my D-16, but there is nothing like the big leagues!! The sound!! Wake the neighbors at 2am sound, combined with soft and clear..wonderful creation from Nazareth. Thank you who built 1620731.

Comments about Martin Standard Series D-28P Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I had purchased a D-28P, it had a dent in the neck, I contacted MF and they said they would either give me a discount on it or replace it, I replaced it. They asked no questions just took care of me, paid shipping and had a new one in my hands quickly. This is a high end Martin guitar, nuff said. But; it also has a 1/16" wider finger board at the nut giving less taper and the saddle spacing is 1/16" wider allowing more room for my fingers, and it's slimmer in the back of the neck allowing for easier movement up and down the board. Great Guitar

Comments about Martin Standard Series D-28P Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

The neck is wider by 1/16" and the string spacing is also 1/16" wider while the back of the neck is slimmer than a D-28. Mine had a dent in the back of the neck, Martin said that it couldn't happen at the factory, I guess they don't make mistakes, But MF paid for me to send it back and they will replace it, I couldn't ask for more than that. The one I had was a little flat in it's sound imo. but each Martin is a little different and the more they are played the better they get, or at least my HD-28 and my D-35 has over the years. The neck being a little wider on this D-28P is nice as it gives a little more fingering room on the board. Martins don't make the only awsome sounding acoustic guitars but they were the first and set the standard.

        Unbelievable!

Comments about Martin Standard Series D-28P Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

        Speachless.
The Martin D28P. WOW!! That about sums this instrument up in one word. I have owned many guitars in my lifetime including a Taylor 310, Martin d16, Martin DXM, Martin D1 etc. NONE have come close to this instrument in ANY category or aspect of the instrument.

I've been yearning for this model of Martin since I was a freshman in Highschool but financially it was always out of my reach as I'm sure most of you reading this understand. However, after 25 years of playing everything else, I finally made up my mind to stop "Settling" for other guitars and financed this purchase. I am not sorry for this decision.

This guitar plays and sounds like no other. You will NOT be sorry if you drop the cash on this baby.

The playability of this D28 is so smooth and responsive that I honestly look for Martin Co. to make this neck standard on all of their models in the coming years. Or at least make it availible on all models. It is simply amazing!! The greatest innovation in the guitar since "x-bracing." I've heard this someplace else and it is TRUE!

I have very small hands so I decided on the D-28P with the "high performance" neck. Let me tell you, WOW! I've played many d28's in my life, both brand new and early models from the 40's and 50's but none with this neck. Words cannot describe the increase in playability. I mean, c'mon, we all know a D28 plays like silk, but if you haven't played on the "P" neck, go to your nearest dealer and pick one up. You will be in awe just as I am. There is no "taper" to the strings. On most guitars, the strings get further apart as you go up the fretboard, this is not the case with the "P" neck. The strings are comfortably spaced from nut to saddle with no "taper" and the neck itself is thinner, not in the width of the fretboard, but the neck itself making it an absolute dream to play. Whoever designed this neck needs a raise and a promotion!

STOP procrastinating, STOP talking yourself into other models and other manufacturers. You know this is the guitar you really want. If it's at all within your means to make this purchase happen- MAKE IT HAPPEN! You won't be disappointed I promise you!

I'm going to wrap this up now and go play my new baby until I lose consciousness!
This isn't your buddy's Epiphone / Fender or your rich friends Guild or Taylor. This is the original American work of art. This is an instrument that you pass down to generations to come. Your grandchildren can enjoy this guitar as much (if not more by that time) as you. This instrument was made not only to perform miraculously, but to stand the test of time.
Quality? Isn't that a synonym for Martin?
For an ACOUSTIC guitar? I get that question along with the 'shocked' tone of voice very often. Anyone who doesn't know about guitars is clearly taken back by the price. Anyone who DOES know about guitars will tell you- this price for a Martin D28? Worth every dime!
