Comments about Martin Vintage Series HD-28V Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I've been playing over 40 years and owned some great Martins in my life but this is by far the best. Have heard other people playing the HD28v but have NEVER heard a dude. Expensive but well worth it. You really are getting what you pay for here.

Comments about Martin Vintage Series HD-28V Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Hands down best guitar I've come across so far. I was set on a Gibson but they just didn't have the magic this guitar has. there's a reason it's five stars everywhere you look. I played some really nice collings guitars that were great, but not any better than this in my opinion. Mine arrived with perfect action and intonation, new strings, gorgeous woods. I played one of these in a store and fell in love, so I was thinking maybe in time mine will sound as good as this. Haha. It sounded better than that one right out of the box. The fretboard feels so good and I love the thicker neck. Craftsmanship is so much better than the competition it's almost unfair. Also, Martin seems to be the most consistent from guitar to guitar that I've seen. All the high end stuff should be this way but sadly it is not. This model is great for strumming, and would be equally as good for finger style I think. Any type of music sounds great on it. Drop d, slide, capo, it invites anything. When I owned a previous Gibson, I could still enjoy my old Washburn jumbo beater. Not the case at all anymore! It's collecting dust and will be for quite awhile I'm sure! I gotta thank Derek and also recommend him, he's been a huge help and an awesome person thru this journey of finding the right guitar. Took three different guitars, but I ended up with the best of the best. Buying something like this online is frightening to say the least, but I trust the guys at private reserve. They'll go play these guitars, get an idea of what you're after, and make sure you get that on your doorstep... For a fantastic price. Very satisfied with my new acoustic and glad the search is finally over! I highly recommend this guitar if you can swing it..

Loud! This thing is a monster and it's not even broken in yet. Played it next to the authentic 1937 and it held it's own for thousands less. I would like to have a gloss neck and adirondack top but who wouldn't, I've got no complaints. Now to get these finger-grinding Martin strings off of it and get a set of Elixirs. My hat's off to the boys in Nazareth.

Comments about Martin Vintage Series HD-28V Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

High quality wood and craftsmanship, you can see where the extra money went compared to a D28. I loved the D28 I had but there are differences, If you ask me I think the D28 may be a little overpriced. The sound of this guitar is amazing, Beautiful low end and rings like a bell. The neck has more heft to it then the D28, It is what a Martin should be, Impeccable. Also the case is heavy duty, a plus. I would give up my wife before I gave up this Martin in a holdup! There is no doubt. Musicians Friend is the best! The guys in the private reserve shop are great.

Comments about Martin Vintage Series HD-28V Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

This is my favorite of all my guitars, and I have many. If I could only keep one guitar it would be my HD-28V. I LOVE this guitar, and will never part with it. I give my kids anything and everything I can, but they will be waiting a long time to get their hands on this guitar. I almost never have to tune it, but I also keep it humidified and that makes a big difference.
Buy this guitar even if you can't afford it- once your wife hears the sound she will stop complaining and just say, "wow!"

Comments about Martin Vintage Series HD-28V Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I researched Martin guitars for quite a while before deciding to get the HD-28V. It is expensive, but worth every penny and then some. This is the holy grail of guitars. Some people say it is the best-sounding Martin. I can't really comment on that, because the HD-28V is the only Martin I have ever played. But I will tell you that I wouldn't be surprised if this is the best Martin. I think it is certainly the best under 5 grand. The tone and playability are second to none. Deep, rich, balanced, this guitar has it all. I literally cannot put it down. Like my title says, words cannot describe what this guitar sounds like and how elegant it is to play. If you are put off by the price tag, I recommend saving for the HD-28V for however long it takes until you can afford it. It's that good. This is a guitar I will always treasure and one which will give me a lot of inspiration.

Comments about Martin Vintage Series HD-28V Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar is absolutely the most beautiful looking and sounding guitar I have ever seen or heard. The quality of the fit, finish, and tone is second to none. I can see why the pre-war Martins are so highly regarded. Deep bass, rich mids, and clear highs. Had a good professional setup done with low action and it's a pleasure to play. It's an American crafted icon, the standard by which all other guitars are measured, and well worth the investment. Impressive heavy duty top quality American made case too.

This is the best guitar I have ever owned. I had a guitar that sells for a very similar price that I traded toward this one and it was worth the loss that I took to get it.

The best thing about this guitar is the rich and inspiring tone. It has a very good bass response, yet is much more balanced than some would lead you to believe.

I have Martin Tony Rice Signature monel strings. They are the only strings that really work for a guitar like this. They have a decidedly different feel than typical bronze strings. They bring out the full tone of the guitar without any hype.

Comments about Martin Vintage Series HD-28V Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

In 2008 I was looking for a proper acoustic guitar to use for recording and possible live use.

I went to Guitar Center and I played as many as I could: Epi Masterbuilt guitars (they were not in fact built by masters, and sounded like cheap imports), Yamahas (nice sounding), Gibsons (terrible workmanship on them and I will avoid their non-1960's guitars like the plague until I die). I think I even tried a Taylor or two.

I asked the salesman for a Martin 28. He said he had two- a regular 28, the other an HD28V. As soon as I had the 28V floor model in my hand I knew it was right for me- Clear highs, fantastic bottom end without the boom, and everything in between.

I A/B'd it against every Martin they had- another 28, the Clapton model, a 15, 35, and a 45. Nothing could touch the HD28V. NOTHING! I went home, slept on it, and went back and bought the floor model the very next day. 5 years later and it is still the finest sounding guitar I have ever heard or played. FYI, my lead guitarist has some choice vintage gear, including a 56 Martin, and he always mentions how great my HD28V sounds.

My advice: If you are looking for a quality instrument, one that you will not outgrow, look no further because the HD28V is the real deal.
