Comments about Martin X Series 2015 00X1AE Grand Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I had been looking for a good parlor guitar to travel with, but all of those that I tried out were lacking in feel and sound. I had read about this fairly new product in Guitarist magazine recently and decided to give it a try. Although it has the same scale as a normal sized Martin, the body is noticeably smaller and I liked the yellowed antique look that one normally does not find on a Martin. I was originally disappointed when I took the guitar out of the box and played it. The sound was awfully tinny. The guitar was apparently strung with extra light strings. I put on some 12s and lowered the action a bit and after a few days of playing I was very satisfied with the mellow sound I was getting. This is my sixth Martin and I enjoy playing it as much as I do my more expensive guitars. Some guitar players may be put off by the Richlite fretboard and the laminate neck, but I am very pleased with the playability of the guitar. My first Martin which I purchased 10 years ago has the same laminate neck and it has held up well. I have never had to adjust the neck. I have not tried the electrics, as I don't ever plan to hook this up to an amp. All in all, a very nice guitar.
