OVERVIEW

Martin dreadnought with Fishman electronics.

The Martin X Series DXMAE Acoustic-Electric Guitar follows Martin's D-14 design. The guitar's dreadnought body produces big, rounded sound. Pairing the spruce-pattern high pressure laminate (HPL) top with a mahogany-pattern HPL back and sides, the Martin DXMAE guitar belts out full-sounding tone, defined clarity, and enough projection to sound spectacular in a musical arrangement. The Martin DXMAE guitar's mortise and tennon neck joint ensures solid construction with optimally resonant tone, while eliminating drop-off in the finer dynamics.

Martin X Series Guitars are crafted with HPL back and sides with a solid Sitka spruce top, patented mortise and tenon neck construction, and professionally installed Fishman electronics. The result: great-sounding, great-playing guitars that are environmentally friendly, and priced to fly out the door. X-series guitars are one of Martin's best values ever. The X Series affirms Martin's commitment to providing an affordable and competitive option to players dedicated to live performance.

Martin has always made prudent use of natural resources, especially rare or endangered tonewoods. At the same time, it's committed to building guitars of superior tone and playability that are affordable to every guitarist. Martin X Series guitars more than meet both of these criteria.

The DXMAE guitar's stratabond neck is crafted of wood multilayered under extremely high pressure. The laminate is then carved and finished in a conventional manner. The end result is a very strong guitar neck that provides definition and articulate sustain from note to note.

The modified low oval neck shape, 25.4" scale, 1-11/16" nut width, and 16" radius provide comfort and dexterity when performing intricate movements and progressions along the black Richlite fretboard.

The X Series Martin DMXAE guitar uses proven Sonicore pick-up technology with the Fishman Sonitone system featuring easy access volume and tone controls conveniently and discretely located just inside the guitar's sound hole.

Dressed in a satin finish with chrome tuners, and chrome hardware, the Martin DXMAE has the look and sound of a highly collectible Martin, but goes for a price that anyone can afford. Embrace the dream of owning your very own Martin guitar, at a price that is too good to pass up.

All Martin X Series guitars arrive stage ready. Just plug the DXMAE in and play. Martin also accompanies all X Series guitars with a limited lifetime warranty.

I recieved my guitar today and i was expecting to see a low buget kind of guitar and i was not expecting much in the way of sound either. Boy was i wrong on both accounts. When i picked the guitar up it had a very nice quality feel and looked very nice. Then when i started to play i really was suprized to hear a large smooth balance sound that was truly the Martin sound. The sound was very full and pleasing to the ear there again the martin sound i have come to love. The action was great..there was absolutley nothing to do but just enjoy this guitar and the frets were finished perfect.I also own a 2 year Gibson hummingbird and it seems like there is always something it needs done.Believe me or not but this all HPL martin sounds as good as my gibson.Im am not a gibson snob i just call it as i see it and hear it and this very affordable martin is great and the fishman pickup w/ the sound hole volume and tone controls are excellent. I did not think i would post a review on just a low cost martin but this model highly deserves it...

I bought this guitar for a friend because of the high praise in the reviews. It was said that the guitar was great right out of the box. Mine was junk, but my 52 years as guitar player/teacher/technician came to the rescue. I adjusted the neck,(don't these factory workers even know how to put a little tension on the neck?) I lowered the bridge saddle by 0.042 on the treble side and 0.077 on the bass and made it play and sound more like it should. If the guitar was going to be mine, I would have gone a little lower. The action in the first fret was good, so I didn't do anything to the nut. The frets were level all the way down to the body, but some were high on the bass side, (#16, 17, 18, & 19). I left them alone because who ever plays in that position on an acoustic guitar?
I would recommend this guitar to a person that has never played a guitar that was set up & adjusted to perfection by a caring guitar technician because they would not know the difference.

This one will be a permanent part of my sonic stable. Excellent value for that Martin sound and performance. Right out of the box I knew I had a quality instrument.

Was amazed that after tuning it up, it sounded Great right out of the box. Rich, full sounding. I play out on a regular basis, and this guitar more than measures up! The electronics work well and it can take a pounding without going out of tune. For the money, I can't think of anything that would sound better! I have a great 83' Fender Balboa electric/acoustic that I love playing but this is better.

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 DXMAE Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Purchased this as a gift for a family member and wanted a good sounding guitar at a reasonable price for a player just starting out. Tried a bunch of guitars and there was nothing even close to this one for sound, playability, and construction. Shouldn't be that surprised as this is a Martin, afterall, but even compared to an HD-28 this guitar held its own. Wish I had a guitar this nice back when I was starting out.

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 DXMAE Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I actually purchased this guitar on behalf of a friend who has always admired my Martin D-28 but felt his musical abilities couldn't justify a Martin. I have to say I was blown away by how similar the guitars are in sound and feel. The DXMAE is definitely cheap looking compared to my D-28, but that familiar Martin sound is there and that, after all, is what it's all about! Right?

          Great buy

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 DXMAE Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The ability to play a guitar well is dependant more than anything else on determination. The second best guaranty is learning on a good guitar. This is a good guitar.
This guitar is plain looking, but looks can be decieving.
Excellent, it is a Martin of course. Duh. It sounds great. Bass notes sound full and treble sounds clear. Action is low and easy to play. Intonation if perfect from fret to fret all the way down the neck.
You can spend less on a guitar and you will get less. You can spend a lot more, but not get much more. This is a good guitar for a beginner, if the beginner has a reasonable chance of staying with learning. I wish I had bought this guitar 12 years ago. I think if I had, I would be much farther along with my playing skill.

          What a value

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 DXMAE Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I cant put this guitar down. The action is perfect for me it sounds deep and full it has the musical tone and sustain of its bigger Martin brothers. I would love to own a D-28, but will be very happy with this for a long time. Cant be beat for the price
Not fancy but it also does not cost thousands of dollars. It is a plain great sounding, easy playing guitar. It looks and smells great. It lets players such as myself that would love to own a high end Martin but just cant afford it, still enjoy the Martin expierience.
Appears to be made like every other Martin with care and quality craftsmanship. just know that the body is not finished like the high end Martins and will require some care.
Talk about value. I tried several guitars that cost 4 times as much. They did not sound or play 4 times better. Great value for under 450 bucks

Incredible guitar for an incredible price.

          By dbag extra good

Comments about Martin X Series 2015 DXMAE Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Wow, right out of the box this guitar is totally playable. I was shocked that the intonation needed no adjustment. Was thinking about adjusting the action, but after a few hours of play, I think it's perfect. The neck is also adjusted to perfection.

The overall tone is extremely rich, much more so than you would find in a guitar at a similar price, even with the strings it comes with. The bass is powerful for such a small-bodied guitar. The trebles shine brightly and the mid tones fill the sonic gap.

The electronics are top knotch and upon inspection seem very well-made.

The only "downfalls", and these are *minor*, are the preamp battery is a little awkwardly placed and I would prefer the tone knobs to be outside the guitar, but adjusting the dials is fairly easy. Easier than I thought it would be. Also, I would prefer the input to be in a place other than the strap nut.

This is an authentic Martin guitar and at this price, you will find no better. This amazing little thing rivals its more expensive cousins. I would even recommend this as a starter guitar.
