Martin

Lefty 12-string with Fishman electronics.

Martin has always made prudent use of natural resources, especially rare or endangered tonewoods. At the same time, it's committed to building guitars of superior tone and playability that are affordable to every guitarist. The X Series more than meets both of these criteria.

This X Series 12-string left-handed guitar features patented high pressure laminate (HPL) mahogany back and sides with a solid Sitka spruce top, patented mortise and tenon neck construction, and professionally installed Fishman electronics. The result: great-sounding, great-playing guitars, that are environmentally friendly, and priced to fly out the door. This is one of Martin's best values ever. The X Series affirms Martin's commitment to providing an affordable and competitive option to players dedicated to live performance.

Martin's X Series D12X1AE Left-Handed Acoustic-Electric Guitar features the D-14 fret auditorium body design, producing full, robust sound. Pairing the solid Sitka spruce top with mahogany-pattern HPL back and sides, the D12X1AE belts out rich clarity with plenty of projection. The mortise and tennon neck joint ensures optimal tone resonating from the instrument, while virtually eliminating drop-off in the finer dynamics.

The stratabond neck is a multilayered wood creation, bonding layers of wood under extremely high pressure. The material is then carved and finished in a conventional manner. The end result is a very strong neck that provides definition and articulate sustain from note to note.

The modified low oval neck shape, 25.4" scale, 1-11/16" nut width, and 16" radius provide comfort and dexterity when performing intricate movements and progressions along the black Richlite fretboard.

This X Series model features proven Sonicore pick-up technology with the Fishman Sonitone system, including "easy access" volume and tone controls conveniently and strategically located just inside the sound hole.

Dressed in a satin finish and featuring chrome tuners, chrome hardware, this guitar has the look and sound of a highly collectible Martin, but goes for a price that anyone can afford. Embrace the dream of owning your very own Martin guitar, at a price that is too good to pass up.

All X Series guitars arrive stage ready—just plug them in and play. All X Series guitars also include a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

              Comments about Martin X Series D12X1AE Left-Handed Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

After selling my Taylor 12 string several years ago, I got the bug to get another 12 string acoustic. I was going to buy a Seagull until I noticed the Martin one and realized that I had never owned a Martin guitar before. I'll admit I was worried since it was made in Mexico and I was afraid it might be sub standard compared to one made in the USA. I'm happy to say I was very, very wrong. The sound blew me away straight out of the box and I didn't even have to touch the trussrod since the action was perfect. This guitar is an excellent value for someone who might not be able to afford a top of the line model, but would still like to own a Martin. I couldn't be happier with this guitar and now have only to ask myself why I didn't buy a Mexican made Martin sooner?!

Sounds like a more expensive guitar

              Comments about Martin X Series D12X1AE Left-Handed Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

For the price, this is by far the best 12-string option for a lefty. The sound is perfect whether you're plugged in or just playing acoustic, and there are no playability issues. The thing looks great too.
If I have any gripe at all it's that the guitar doesn't stay in-tune as well as my Fender or Ovation, but I'd have to say it's a better buy overall!
