I have two Martins and a Taylor T-5. I ordered the LX1E for a gift for the holidays. I love BIG CLEAR sweet Martin FOLK SOUND. Received this MARTIN LX1E guitar in a timely fashion from Musician's Friend. In great condition. Depending on your amp or amp settings this guitar sounds fantastic and delivers as a full-sounding Martin Guitar. It also has the ease of playability typical of a well-setup Martin, it CERTAINLY is a Martin. I was playing with the Fender G-Dec AMP on one of the ACOUSTIC AMP settings.

THIS GUITAR SOUNDS GREAT, i.e., sweet Martin sound. Rather than order a much lower-priced cheapish sheepish tinty sounding "guitar," lots of "bang-for-your-buck here. Martin fully delivers with a convenient travel guitar with the sound! Thanks to Ed Sheeran, this model is quite popular now, and is sold out at other retail outlets. GREAT JOB MARTIN & MUSICIAN'S FRIEND.

This guitar is fun, but don't play it in front of a group for their entertainment. If you try to play hard the sound is not good. I am trying to sell mine now, as I am disappointed in the cheap materials used in construction. The neck feels too heavy and the body is too small to project acoustically. Martin Co. should just forget this project, as they will lose customers over this.

Comments about X Series LX1E Little Martin Acoustic-Electric:

This guitar is really well made and solidly built. It is not for a purists heart. The tone unplugged is muted, but sounds sweet, and lacks punch. The electronics are basic, but quite adequate. On board tuner works well but takes a little getting used to. Battery access couldn't be better. I'm ditching everything else and just playing this little guy for awhile. I can't keep my hands off of it.

Comments about X Series LX1E Little Martin Acoustic-Electric:

I've been trying to find a guitar that fits my body size for three years and I finally found it in this Little Martin. I am 5'3", 115 pounds, and female. I had to struggle to wrap my arms around my other guitars. The Little Martin has a nice rich sound that belies its small size. I have not had much experience with the electronics, but what little I have tried has been satisfactory. The onboard tuner might run a bit flat but you can compare it with your clip-on tuner. Overall, I LOVE this little guy!

Comments about X Series LX1E Little Martin Acoustic-Electric:

Got this as a "back up" Guitar for gigs. Having said that, it could be your main ax as well. This guitar comes with a very nice padded Martin gig bag.

Acoustically, don't expect a "full size" guitar sound. It does have a very nice sweet and (loud enough )sound with decent bass for its size.

However...Plug this into an amp or PA and you will be pleasantly surprised with the "big" full size Martin sound of this little peanut guitar.

Took a chance & ordered this (used )through Musicians Friend as it was the best price in our budget for a back up guitar.

Received the guitar in perfect condition, sounds great and everything (electronics) work fine. Changing battery (9 volt) is easy to get to. Could't find anything wrong with this (used) guitar....so I'm very happy!

I found this guitar at the Instrument and audio store downtown and legitimately had no intentions of buying anything there just browsing...and then I saw this little guy. When I first strummed it I was blown away from the sound that came from such a little guitar. I had always contemplated buying a nice mini or traveler because I'm constantly going places where I'm asked to "break out the guitar" so buying the "Little Martin" just made sense. Ever since I brought it home I have not put it down. Its sound and playability totally make up for how goofy I look playing it. I'd definitely recommend this guitar to anyone.

Comments about X Series LX1E Little Martin Acoustic-Electric:

I bought this guitar for my 8 year old grandson. He says he wants to learn to play and wanted an acoustic. Well, we'll see. I played a few 3/4 guitars at our local music shop and to tell you the truth for their cheap price they played really well but, they sounded terrible. I wanted to get him a better than average guitar that sounds good when you accomplish a clean chord, one that stays in tune and one with a preamp with tuner.
I considered the Baby Taylor and The Martin Mini. I read good and bad reviews on both. I decided on The Martin for no particular reason, the name I guess.
Anyway for me the neck is a little tight for my big hands but the more I play it the more comfortable I am with it. It's not for me but, I can see an adult buying one because it sounds good and it is small enough to travel with.
I think for the money it's a great first guitar especially for a young person with smaller hands and a good guitar in general for the price.

I don't write many reviews but I read them a lot and you really find yourself trusting what other people say. I first read about these on musicians friend. I was at a local guitar shop when I saw one hanging on the wall so I wanted to see what all the positive reviews were about. I was instantly surprised by how rich the tone was. I got home that night and ordered one from MF. I have had it for about 4 months and I play it every day. I am not being over dramatic. I really play it every day. That's why I bought it. Yes, I have more expensive guitars but I wanted something to sit in my living room and not worry about it getting damage or worry about the sun besting in on it. It's a fun fantastic little guitar. Easy to play and always stays in tune. For fun I decided to do some recording with it and it really sounds like a bigger guitar in the mixes. Really easy to record surprisingly. If you want a guitar that will be staring at you every day when you come home from work and is effortless to play, this is your guitar. I don't think I would ever gig with it purely because it looks kind of silly to hold, but its a nice little secret to keep in the house. Fun. Pure fun.
