Don't Forget

The first time a split personality is a good thing.

The Michael Kelly Hybrid Special can deliver screaming electric and sweet acoustic tones from one single guitar. The Hybrid Special is the perfect stage and studio instrument. Instantly switch it from full acoustic tone to ripping electric guitar! Want more? The Hybrid Special can also BLEND both tones together for almost infinite tonal combinations ” creating endless variations of a two-axe wall of sound attack!

Dual Amp Capability
If you are performing live with a Michael Kelly Hybrid Special or using one in the studio, you will love its dual amp capabilities! When using a Y cable (sold separately), the Hybrid sends a signal from the acoustic pickup to one amp and the electric pickup signal to another. Since nothing can reproduce an acoustic signal like a full-range acoustic amp, this will really enhance your performance! You can also run directly into two channels on a mixing board for live or studio applications that will allow you to tailor the sound and maximize each tone. Don't have two amps or a mixing board? Don't worry. With a standard guitar cable on the Hybrid Special Guitar, you get a single signal that you can plug into any amp. The amazing Hybrid Special gives you a vast array of tonal possibilities, with 2 Rockfield SWC coil-tapped humbuckers and very versatile controls.

Comments about Michael Kelly Hybrid Special Spalted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

The guitar is fabulous (esp. when price is compared to other hybrids from Taylor, Godin, etc).

Musicians Friend service was awesome, as usual.

Michael Kelly's customer service, however, is abysmal. I used their "contact us" email to ask for some info on the guitar's controls. My request was totally ignored. This is my second MK purchase. It is also my last. It's a cool guitar, but there are other makers of cool guitars who don't ignore customers.

I'm indicating "yes" to the recommend bottom line strictly because the guitar itself is excellent. The purchase would have gotten 5 stars if the manufacturer had bothered to respond to a simple inquiry.

If I was evacuated, the one thing I would bring...

Comments about Michael Kelly Hybrid Special Spalted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

Is my Michael Kelly Hybrid Special! I had already put a Schecter Ultracure Robert Smith Signature Model on layaway at the Guitar Store I frequent. I played it every week for a long time either before or after my Guitar lesson. I was ready to make the last payment (about 6 months had gone by) and then I saw the MK on the wall. I HAD to play it!It was so beautiful! The spalted flame maple is awe inspiring. That is all good, but how did it play? WOW! For the first time EVER, I felt like a guitar was custom made JUST FOR ME! The fret board is Rosewood with 22 medium-jumbo frets, almost exactly the same as the Schecter, EXCEPT it was a little smaller and much easier for this girls' little hands! All of a sudden, my power chords were powerful and not muffled because I couldn't quite get my fingers all the way around. I love this guitar! For females, I think it is perfect! I like the Schecter too, but for my hands, the MK fits better. It sounds and looks hot too!

I am completely in love with this guitar. The semi-hollow build leaves room for everything from sweet acoustic sounds to heavy humbucker tones. I would highly recommend this work of art for any routing musician. Leave the rest of your guitarsenal at home!

Comments about Michael Kelly Hybrid Special Spalted Maple Top Electric Guitar:

I have owned this guitar for 18 ish months now. It took some getting used to coming from a stratocaster but after getting to know it it has truly become a great companion. I got a heavier gauge of strings (11-52) on it and it really came to life (and that caused it to stop going out of tune so easy). This guitar sounds INCREDIBLE. Its tone is so unique and sweet. It can hit warm lows and crisp clean highs. The acoustic setting is spot on. You can shift and blend and play with the tone in so many cool ways. Overdriven in all settings kills, I never imagined it would sound as ballsy with any level of drive. It is easy to play, it wants you to play it.
      Plus it looks great.
