I've had my N1 for about a week now after going back and forth reading reviews about it. It is beautiful out of the box and is well made. The strings that it came with were uncomfortable to me, so as per other reviewers suggestions, I put extra light strings on it, and noticed the difference in the action right away. Now it plays easy and sounds great. Has such a nice warm tone, once I pick it up, I hate to put it down.
The Nostalgia N1 is amazing for a value guitar. The action is nice and low (with light gauge strings). The tone has much fuller lows and mids than I've heard on other cheap guitars. The guitar just sounds fuller. I also own the Washburn D100, which offers more clarity but at a cost of sounding thin, and a bit tinny in comparison. If you are a beginner not looking to spend a lot of money, buy this guitar, you won't regret it. If your an experienced player looking for a practice or beater guitar, this is it.
Excellent value for a low priced guitar. Tried most of the value pack's and Rogue's in this price range-this BLOWS them away. Nice tone, action and well made instrument, Highly recommended!
I hadn't seen any reviews anywhere for this guitar or really any Michael Kelly guitars, so I figured I would shine some light. I bought this guitar as a gift for my nephew thinking if it didn't seem like good enough quality I could return it. But that's not necessary, this guitar sounds really good for what it is, construction seems decent as well. The only knock that I can see so far is the glued pieces(neck/body joint, baseboard) are slightly sloppy, not really noticeable unless you look hard and given the overall sound, it's not a dealbreaker at all. The strings are close to the fretboard, making bar chords easier to get for a beginner. It comes stringed already, but I'd recommend putting on some decent strings (Martin/D'addario) and you are good to go. Of course I don't know how the construction will hold up over time, but out of the box it is well worth the low price.
I purchased the N1 at a local music store, at a more expensive price than on here too, I paid around 120 for mine, and I'm not complaining. It was a great value at that price, and an even better value here. It sounds wonderful, it's made well, with a full mahogany body, and it just has such an amazing tone, full and warm. I love this guitar, and I had my doubts at first, as I bought it on a whim. Completely worth it.
I bought this guitar. for playing when I go camping because I didn't want to bring 1 of my more expensive guitars. It played fairly good rite out of the box. But after I did some minor truss rod adjustments. It plays like a dream. there was a very minor blemish under the finish, but hardly noticable. Other than that it looks and plays great. Checked out several other guitars in theis price range. And even bought a ooo rouge, because I hapened to have a case laying aroud that would fit it. I am now gonna be using the old ooo case as a suite case. I took a chance on the N1 and very pleased with the out come. if your wantin a inexpensive durable guitar to kick around with I think you would be happy with it. A very good value for the money.
I'm saving for a Martin D-18 so I didn't want to spend much on my "back porch picker". Boy am I surprised! The N-1 is the total package of quality, good deep sound, and looks. All I did was put on a set of Daddario bronze lights and it sounds great and stays in tune. The action lays low without any buzz also. Great buy for the buck. KRice
I am a beginer and I didn't have very much money to spend. I went to stores trying different guitars in my price range and couldn't find this specific one, but was told that it was compared to the Mitchel. I bought this guitar and when it came I was very suprised at the quality for the price. If I were to have seen this guitar without knowing the price, I would have thought it cost more than it actually does! The tones are nice but of course needs new strings put on. Also, don't think that me being a beginner keeps me from knowing what quality guitars look like...I grew up around music and I know what they look like! I will be playing on this guitar for years!
I was some what sceptical about this Guitar when I ordered it, having several guitars and playing for over 30 years I thought well if it does not meet my standards I'll sent it back, well it arrived yesterday and when I opened up the box I was in Shock, WOW!!!!!, what a well put together Guitar "A REAL KEEPER". after tuning it up and playing it for about 30 minutes it stayed in perfect tune, the finish is flawless, just a real nice addition to my collection, Kudos to Michael Kelly Guitar Company for their care and craftmanship in this Gem!
