Comments about Mitchell Element Series ME2CEC Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I didn't have off the charts high expectations for this guitar. I'm starting with that to let you know just how badly this guitar missed. All I was hoping for was decent playing guitar and decent tone. I thought, based on other Mitchell reviews...and this one being the top of the line of the Mitchell's, that this wasn't unreasonable. Well. I was wrong. I'll start with the good. Nice, balanced tone. Very good in fact. That alone almost made me keep it. Now the bad. There was over spray on the finish. It was actually on the binding an not a little bit either. Very poor QC. Okay, not a deal breaker though. Fret work was so so at best with some sharp edges. Again, not a deal breaker. Now it gets iffy. The bridge was rough cut. By this I mean the rosewood piece looked like it was routed and never sanded. It (the bridge piece) also had gouges in it and looked completely unfinished. That really made me wonder about he construction in general. Not to mention it did not feel sturdy. Very light guitar. Again, considering I got this at a substantial discount, I was going to over look this. I pulled the (included) battery from the very cheesy battery access panel, unwrapped it and installed it. I pushed the turner button (which is recessed and a poor design) and nothing. I think it's maybe just me. Recheck to see that the battery was in correctly. It was. inserted a cable to see if the battery light flashed as it was supposed to. It did. tried another battery. Nope. Tuner just didn't work. That was the end. Called Musicians Friend to return it. That was easiest part. I can't help but wonder if this guitar was put on sale because MF knew of the QC issues. I sure hope not. I have since ordered another (and completely different kind) of guitar that was again, on sale. I hope I don't have similar issues. If so, it will be the last guitar I ever order from MF. In short, even at steeply discounted price, this guitar was a pleasant sounding (I tuned it using a clip on tuner and played it for about oh, 3 minutes), fairly easy to play (action was surprisingly decent) instrument that was killed by construction and QC issues.

Comments about Mitchell Element Series ME2CEC Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

this is a great guitar. great feel to it with a low action and absolutely no buzzing anywhere. the cut away makes it easy to play around higher up on the fret board.
ran it through my fender champion 100 and loved every second of it. a really great guitar for anyone looking to upgrade. cant wait to play this bad boy in front of some people.
