Looks awesome, plays great ! I love it ! Really impressed with the sound and playability. The finish work is excellent. Frets are dressed to perfection and the action is perfect. Came out of the box tuned and ready to play, intonation is dead on. This is an amazing instrument for the price.
The neck is great, kinda like an Ibanez, starts out a little fatter at the neck and tapers going up. High frets are much much easier to play than on my LP. TUSQ XL, D'addario strings (my favorite), locking tuners, Shallow "C" neck, excellent sustain.

The guitar looks cool and includes some nice features for the price range but please don't be suckered in like I was. The volume/pickup knobs rub the inside of the guitar where they sit, The jack location is super inconvenient when you use a strap. I could not keep it in tune and the tuner locks don't work. When you use the pickup splitter the pickups hum. The craftsmanship isn't so great. I would recommend this guitar to a beginner if it was two fifty cheaper. I returned mine and spend fifty more and got a way nicer guitar with less "features". Please pick something else if you're considering this guitar. You can find better guitars in this price range with companies such as Ibanez, Schecter, Epiphone.. There are more out there but you get the idea. Good luck and happy guitar shopping.

Comments about Mitchell MD400 Modern Rock Double-Cutaway Electric Guitar:

Best guitar I own. I can honestly compare this to a professional level guitar. The craftsmanship on the neck is sleek. I personally like lacquered necks because of how smooth they are, and the radius works perfectly for hands big and small. I'm amazed at the quality of this guitars pickups. They are Alnico pickups. I would play this in the studio, and in live performances. It nearly compares to a professional PRS, which it is copied after.

Comments about Mitchell MD400 Modern Rock Double-Cutaway Electric Guitar:

I saw this at the local Guitar Center, played it and fell in love with it. I have plenty of guitars of all prices and age, and makes, but I could not get this guitar out of my head so I ordered it on MF the next week, I have the Natural model. The beautiful mahogany with the veneer of flamed maple is stunning. The set neck into the body looks as its part of the body: superior craftsmanship. Comparing this guitar against more very expensive guitars, the value of the MD 400 beats them hands down. I love the coil tap feature and these pickups offer great sound versatility. Sharp crisp tone from the bridge, and sweet bottom tone from the neck pick up : It has a 3 position pick up selector, with the coil tap. I only wish that it had a 5 position selector to offer more sound combinations. The neck construction with its beautiful binding and 24 frets is flawless. The locking tuners is a great idea, It arrived perfectly set up. Intonation perfect throughout to the 24th fret. This guitar stacks up with the best. The quality of the imports from the Asian manufactures are now every bit as good or better than the much more expensive domestic guitar makers.

Comments about Mitchell MD400 Modern Rock Double-Cutaway Electric Guitar:

I felt compelled to write this review to help others who might be on the fence about this guitar. I certainly read reviews and find them helpful in my decision making process. That and this guitar is just that good IMHO.
I wrote similar review on Guitar Center website told the story of how I fell in love with it and what not, here I will comment on the guitar itself.
It's beautiful, feels awesome, fit and finish are really really good. Fret work is top notch, I cannot find a single flaw in its appearance. Made in China, but craftsmanship is excellent.
The electronics seem fine, the pick ups are a little hotter than I want but I have no plans on changing them out or anything on this guitar for that matter.
I have been playing 35 years and have owned guitars that cost 10 times more than what I paid for this one I honestly don't think that they were any better or any worse than this one. I am guilty of turning my nose up on the Mitchell brand but curiosity got the better of me. I like this guitar so much I ordered another Mitchell brand guitar. This time I opted for the MS400.
There is just one thing I don't really care for, that is the angle of the input jack, I am sure I'll get used to it, it is just odd.I certainly don't consider this to be an entry level instrument the quality is top notch.
The price... Well it is just awesome for what you get!

Comments about Mitchell MD400 Modern Rock Double-Cutaway Electric Guitar:

Play a lot of my own music, but play covers as well. Don't let the price fool you. You get a great guitar for the money. Honestly, forget a low end Epiphone or squire. Neck is great and fast. No fret buzz. Got it two weeks ago and haven't played any other guitar(I have many) except the other Mitchell I bought. This guitar rocks. Love the mini humbucker!

Comments about Mitchell MD400 Modern Rock Double-Cutaway Electric Guitar:

I was attracted to Mitchell for an odd reason. I want a guitar for every letter of the alphabet. Needed an "m". Mitchell looked like they offered a decent product at a good price, so I got the MD 400 in purple. I'm perfectly pleased with what I received. A great playing, great sounding guitar. No flaws.
Played it through my Vox AC15, my Line 6 Spyder IV, and my Marshall MG100HDFX and it sounded great!
I was so happy with it, I ordered an MH400!
Bottom line: the guitars look great, feel great, and you can't beat the price!
The necks feel close to Ibanez, so, if you like a thinner neck, this is the guitar.
The MD400 has a mini humbucker in the bridge. The only con is it plays at a lower volume than when you switch t a middle pick up. Nothing that can't be resolved when practicing.
The MH400, Green Lemon is beautiful! Cleaner pups, more sonic versatility. Still waiting to put it through a 100 watts because the baby is sleeping. I'll let you know when I do! Get it! Great guitars for the price!

Comments about Mitchell MD400 Modern Rock Double-Cutaway Electric Guitar:

With the purchase of this guitar, that makes number 85 for me. So I feel that my opinion of this guitar should mean something. I own all brands of guitars, Fender, Gibson, P.R.S, etc. I have played in a band for 24 years, so believe me when I say that for the price of this guitar, you really get your bang for the buck. I payed less than 400.00 with free shipping. When I got the guitar, it was almost in tune after being shipped. The setup was great and the finish is very impressive. All I had to do was set the intonation on 3 strings, and that's it. There are so many people hung up on saying if it isn't a Fender, or Gibson, or some other name brand, then it's junk. Whatever!!!! I have a P.R.S. custom 24 that I payed $3000.00 for, after playing it maybe 10 times the clear coat started coming off the neck around the 12th fret. Drove to P.R.S. in Maryland to have it repaired, took 6 months to get it back. They did however do a great job at no cost, got a tour of the factory, met Paul Reed Smith plus he signed the back of the head stock. Long story short, There is good and bad in everything out there. So play what you have, and enjoy it. A lot of great music has been recorded through the years on cheap guitars. So yes, I recommend this guitar very much!!

Comments about Mitchell MD400 Modern Rock Double-Cutaway Electric Guitar:

I was looking for something new and thought I would give Mitchell a try. I know they are MF and GC's house brand. I have had many guitars, Squier, Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, G&L, Epiphone, Etc. This guitar is amazing for the price. I purchased the natural version for my collection. The guitar came out of the box almost in tune and intonation was spot on. The finishing of the body was very similar to Epiphone or G&L with a few oversprays etc. still very nice. My biggest complaint is the frets, they are finished on the edges well and there isn't any high spots. The problem is the fret surface is rough, not a big deal just needs a little sanding and polishing, but some will not go to the trouble. I think most would not care and it wouldn't bother them, but it did bother me.

The pots are ok, the switch is ok, the pickups were actually pretty good. Bridge is pretty hot and the neck is very warm. The coil splitting on the neck reduces the output by a large margin and way more than the bridge pickup. I don't think that is a huge problem, but some might.

The hardware is pretty good. The bridge seems decent, the knobs are nice, the turners are some of the best I have had in the sub 500 range.

All in all I am pleasantly surprised with this guitar. It will definitely be in my rotation.

Looking at the other Mitchell models now.
