Comments about Mitchell MDJ10 Junior Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar with Gig Bag:
Bought this for a child who wants to take lessons. Honestly I was not expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. it appears to be a decent instrument. It sounds sort of tinny due to its size. It certaily does not have the sound of a full bodied guitar at any rate but I did not expect it would. The guitar arrived set up pretty well, just putting it in tune was all that was needed.

Comments about Mitchell MDJ10 Junior Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar with Gig Bag:
I bought this little guitar as I was suprised at the quality of wood and craftmanship it was made with. I play a little of everything and I can pull a good sound out of this guitar. I am very happy with it. It looks like a full size guitar that was shrunk down. I enjoy looking at it as much as I enjoy playing it. For the cheap price you can't gp wrong. I could have bought any guitar I wanted and I chose this one, so price was not an issue for me. It has the best construction, sound and price for the guitars in this line up. This guitar will fit in a locker at work or school. Its small enough to take any where and sits comfortably on your knee like a full size guitar. I also own a Martin back Packer travel guitar which is nice for what it is, but I enjoy this more. Dont expect it to sound like a full size guitar, but understand it is a smaller size and plays very well and will give you the freedom to go any where and have a good time doing it. One word describes this guitar: BEAUTIFUL. Be happy Mitchel is doing a great job bring this to us.
Comments about Mitchell MDJ10 Junior Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar with Gig Bag:
Pretty. Good peice of furniture. Just doesn't sound good. And, the cheapie gig bag smelled strongly of smoked meat and wood smoke. It was a little disconcerting actually. There are good sounding runs of this little guitar out there. I have played them. Mine wasn't one of them. I returned it. I was hoping that with a good set of strings, maybe a bone bridge and nut, etc. I could wind up with a pretty good sounding travel acoustic. Wasn't going to happen with this guitar. I exchanged it for a Martin LXM.
This is a beautful little guitar. It is the best LOOKING 3/4 size on the market right now. The finish on mine was near perfect and the attention to detail was quite good. It was a great piece of woodworking for the price. The little guitar has a great neck, good balance and an easy feel to it.
Despite it's looks, an acoustic guitar is about sound and this one doesn't have it. At least the one I recieved didn't. The one I recieved had great projection, it was actually louder than my larger, brand name, folk size acoustic. But, the tone was tinny to the point of being annoying. Loud and annoying is a bad combination. I played others at Guitar Center before ordering this one and their tone seemed to be much better, so perhaps I just got one from a bad batch. But, I could not envision myself playing this guitar for any length of time.
This could possibly be a good kids starter guitar if you can't afford the money for something better. The neck is good and plays smoothly. The balance is good. You could learn on this guitar but I would hesitate to train a kid's ear on it for long if they are all going to sound like the one I recieved. The tone on this little guy is no better than the twenty or so dollar First Act acoustics from WalMart.
Comments about Mitchell MDJ10 Junior Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar with Gig Bag:
An excellent instrument for the price!
For the price, this guitar has a lot of nice-ness to it. It's a beautiful instrument and for (as of now) the price it comes with a case and a strap. So, for the market, it's a good deal as I compare prices.
For the price, this is a great guitar! I played this one, a Baby Taylor, a Mini Martin, and a Yamaha 1/2 size classical. The Martin had the most warmth in its sound. The Mitchell and the Baby Taylor both have a brighter sound; the Taylor has a little more volume and projective warmth. The Yamaha was also warm (due to the strings) but the neck width seemed (predictably so) a little wider, which might be something to consider if you're buying this for a child.
If price were not a problem, the best sounding guitar on the market was the mini Martin.
Value wise, I feel like this guitar excels compared to the others (considering price, construction, and sound).
Comments about Mitchell MDJ10 Junior Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar with Gig Bag:
I bought this guitar as a beat-around; all I wanted was something that stayed in tune reasonably well and was playable for the lowest possible price. I got what I wanted. Just keep in mind that the thing sounds like a $100 guitar, not a $1,000 one. I played the mini Taylor and Martin and both sounded like real instruments...this doesn't. However, it does sound nice with my brass slide. Can you say delta blues? For serious music, I'll stick with my Martin dreadnaught, for playing at the beach, I got my Mitchell.
Comments about Mitchell MDJ10 Junior Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar with Gig Bag:
I purchased the Mitchell MDJ10 about 6 months ago to play on those long, slow nights at work. I have been extremely satisfied with it. No travel guitar, regardless of tonewood or quality can match the resonance of a full sized instrument but the little Mitchell does a great job of delivering great sound. I was thinking about purchasing the Larrivee or the Taylor mini guitars but after playing the Mitchell I couldn't see why I should pay 3 times the price for a name brand guitar that sounded the same as the Mitchell. The quality really impresses me. THe back is beautifully bowed and the craftsmanship seems to match that of the premium brands. The Mitchells are made by Japanese craftsmen in Indonesia and they truly do a wonderful job. My sister has been wanting to learn guitar but has tiny child-sized hands that just can't play the basic chords on a full size. I will be buying her one of these sometime in the future. The Mitchell also comes with a good quality, basic gig bag. I wish it had a shoulder strap, but are you really going to complain when you're getting such a great instrument for $120?Take my advice, buy this guitar. My full size guitars include a $4000 Larrivee and a 1969 Ovation Custom Balladeer. I know and appreciate the sound of a well-made instrument. The little Mitchell is one of them.
Comments about Mitchell MDJ10 Junior Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar with Gig Bag:
I played this in store while looking around i spotted it,and said cool (Mitchell are good guitars) had to try it out. As an adult player with smaller hands i found it very comfortable to play and it sounded nice. It did stay in tune after i tuned it up. As good as a martin quality wise. Highly recommend this guitar to anyone beginners to season players also a good travel guitar.
