The Luke guitar features premium tonewoods including alder, maple and rosewood, plus a mahogany tone block that runs from under the bridge to the neck pocket. The bolt-on neck of selected maple has a rosewood fretboard. An active EMG-85 humbucker in the bridge position and active EMG SLV custom single-coils in the middle and neck provide tons of sonic choices. The Ball Family Reserve Luke showcases a meticulously crafted electric guitar, perfectly fit for one of the world's greatest musicians.

I took a chance with the EMG pickup arrangement having never played them. I would highly recommend them at least as arranged and designed into the Luke.

As the other reviewer said, this guitar is just amazing. Although you may want to try out the other musicman that Petrucci designed, it may suit your style better. Luke is for the rocker, but even the clean sound is gorgeous. Once you plug it into an amp the experience is awesome, can't stop playing. Beats other guitars in this price range, some of them are not even close to this work of art.
