Artist Series
Artist Series is now “The Award Winning Artist Series” – winning competitions and receiving rave reviews in the States, Europe and around the world. It’s a truly designed line of guitars that stands tall and sounds sweet in the solid top guitar market.

Hand-selected solid tops; forward shifted scalloped bracing, awesome tone and player experience….

The term “solid top” refers to the soundboard of an acoustic guitar being made of solid wood, rather than being laminated. However, just because the top is solid, it does not necessarily mean the sound automatically benefits from this feature. The tone of the instrument only improves significantly when the whole guitar is built correctly to really release the energy a solid soundboard can generate. Artist Series guitars are built to do exactly this.

Each model is designed to get the best out if its components, and for them to work together to produce a tone and player experience rarely found in affordable instruments. These components include Ibanez's FSTM bracing system, bi-level bridge, real bone nut and great quality tone woods. FSTM is a forward shifted X brace design. Both the X braces and asymmetric tone bars are scalloped. Moving the system forward allows for a larger soundboard, which is optimized with a solid maple bridge plate for both strength and energy.

The sound is warm, open and powerful, and both the treble and bass registers are clearly present and balanced in relation to each other. These guitars feel right and are exciting to play and responsive. Dig in and they shout right back at you, treat them gently and they whisper and respond instantly to the lightest strum or pick.

The solid ‘A’ grade Sitka spruce and cedar tops are hand selected from quartersawn wood. This ensures consistent quality, and its no secret better guitars are made from better wood. Ibanez tops not only look great, but they are stiff and strong and finely grained.

Comments about Alvarez Artist Series AD70SB Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

This is a great guitar. It is as light as my Martin D-19. Very comparable.
Also, I bought the generic Musician's Friend dreadnought guitar case and
this is a good fit for Alvarez dreadnought guitars. If you find the guitar on
sale, buy it.

    • Flat picking

Comments about Alvarez Artist Series AD70SB Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I play finger style but I like the tone and the power of a dreadnought shape, and this guitar has all the features that I need: a rich powerful sound with fat basses, but still balanced enough in order not to overwhelm the mids and the trebles, and a 1 3/4 wide neck which is rare in a dreadnought but important when you finger pick. The guitar is very well built for the price, and the sunburst finish is well executed and looks gorgeous. I am very picky with the set up but the instrument arrived from Musicians Friend in perfect form: straight neck, low action, no strings buzz, correct neck angle. Cherry on the cake: the guitar was on sale and I saved plenty of money. Alvarez is really raising the standard as far as value for money is regarded !

Comments about Alvarez Artist Series AD70SB Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I upgraded from a beginner, laminate top guitar. This is a beautiful, solid top guitar with forward shifted bracing with a beautiful, rich sound. I love playing it. It has such a great sound, I love it more and more each time I play it. I shopped around quite a while for a guitar, and I feel like this was the best value I could find, especially when it is on sale.

Comments about Alvarez Artist Series AD70SB Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I am having trouble getting the set up right to play better. I think I would rather send it back for something else, Maybe an S6 seagull or X series Martin without the electronics.

Comments about Alvarez Artist Series AD70SB Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Agree with Charles in Charge. This guitar is very resonant. The photos don't do it justice; the back and sides have a rich gloss finish. Consistent with the photos and contrary to the specifications listed, the guitar neck has a satin finish, not gloss. I am picky and I did not find any flaws on my guitqr. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a low to intermediate priced all acoustic dreadnought.
