Updated with new neck, new finish, and improved electronics.

The Custom 24 is the original PRS¦the guitar Paul Reed Smith took to his first tradeshow in 1985. A perennial favorite with musicians, this model has been updated for 2011 with V12 finish, a Pattern Thin mahogany neck, and uncovered 59/09 pickups wired for the redesigned 5-way blade switch, which offers a dual humbucker option for the first time.

V12 Finish
Finish should enhance the look, sound, and feel of a guitar by accentuating the wood's inherent beauty and feel without hindering its natural resonance. And PRS Guitars' new "V12" finish does just that. Introduced at Experience PRS 2010, "V12" is a very thin, hard, and clear finish that will not crack or react with thinners. After roughly 12 years in development, it is halfway between acrylic and nitro but with a classic feel all its own. "PRS models with this new finish feel like old instruments," said Paul Reed Smith.

Pattern Thin Neck Shape
Neck shapes have always been a high priority for PRS and a hallmark of our quality. A guitar should feel comfortable, like "home," as soon as you pick it up, and the neck is paramount to that connection. The "Pattern Thin" neck is an updated version of PRS's traditional Wide Thin neck. This new neck shape reflects modern tooling and programming that allows us to even more preciously shape and consistently reproduce our necks.

Comments about PRS Custom 24 with Pattern Thin Neck Electric Guitar:

I bought my first PRS Custom Guitar about 6 months ago. Let me put it this way. My Gibson Les Paul case I just noticed has a think layer of dust from the lack of use. All I play is my PRS now. I love that it is American made and handmade. It is beautiful. Even after six months of regular playing it still has not lost its "Wow" factor. The action is super low and the tone is perfect.

Comments about PRS Custom 24 with Pattern Thin Neck Electric Guitar:

orver all I love the guitar there are not dislikes,
My PRS custom 24 from Musicians Friend came very well package for delivery .
I gave it a 9 and not a 10 because it is very expensive , the pickups setup is right on, I brought my strings down low with no buzz, perfect neck, and awsome guitar
the quality is super, worksmanship is flawless ,again great guitar
this is a fantastic guitar even if it is pricey, but if you worked so hard to be a musician, don't you think you deserve a perfect instrument. pluged into my JVM Marshall then to my Fender twin reverb, man did it sound like their was a concert going on put a boss delay, and a boss compressor, add a little distortion and away you go.muscians paradise lol

Comments about PRS Custom 24 with Pattern Thin Neck Electric Guitar:

Got this a few weeks ago in the Eriza Verde finish, and all I can say is....Wow! The quality of this instrument is unlike anything I've ever seen in a mass-produced guitar. It was flawless out of the case, and set up perfectly. This is what Gibson and Fender should aspire to be. Each position of the blade switch gives a distinct tone that sounds great. Allowing both humbuckers to be active (also in single-coil mode) is a bonus, too. The quality just drips off of this instrument; you can tell that it was painstakingly crafted by hand. Sure it's expensive, but for what you get, it's worth it. The tone, the playability, the details are all first rate. PRS has a new loyal customer.

Comments about PRS Custom 24 with Pattern Thin Neck Electric Guitar:

I have nothing bad to say here. This is a perfect instrument that does everything extremely well. Don't take mine and other reviewers word for it, go get your own! You will never regret it!
I love the 59/09 pickups, a major plus over the older HFS/Vintage combination. Amazing punch, yet very articulate. Never was a fan of the rotary switches, the 5-way blade switch was a key feature in my buying process.Trem is rock solid as always. New Phase II tuners are deadly accurate and stable as can be. Perfect feature set!
Not much to say here. PRS build quality takes a back seat to NOBODY!!! The tone just drips out of this guitar, a pleasure to play every single time I pick it up.
PRS guitars are not cheap, but nothing with this feature set, build quality, and tone ever is. They are so very consistent, unlike that "other" big ticket guitar maker in Nashville.

Comments about PRS Custom 24 with Pattern Thin Neck Electric Guitar:

First off, let me say this this guitar is simply amazing from top to bottom. If you can afford this guitar, you can rest assured that it will live up to the PRS reputation. Ive played Gibsons Les Pauls for the past 10 years, but in my opinion, this guitar kills them in every category. Sorry Gibson lovers! It just screams quality and the tone is remarkable. Very easy to play. Some say that the tone PRS guitars give are very generic and dull.. I couldnt disagree more. It sang when played through my Vox AC15C1, clean and dirty. Handled everything i threw at it very well and then some. Cant wait to start playing some gigs with this bad boy. My only complaint, which is very small, is that the volume and tone knob have very light resistance to turn them. guess im just use to my Les Pauls. Regardless, they function flawlessly. Very happy with this purchase and would highly recommend this axe to a friend.
