I got this guitar 2 days ago for christmas, and I am amazed. The tone is very rich, and I was surprised at how loud it was, considering it is only 1/2 wood. I had always heard that Ovations weren't loud. The Dj-4 is a dream. It's got the same features as more expensive Ovations and better. I love the built in tuner. Also, this guitar stays in tune very well. The finish (Natural) is beatiful. It matches perfectly with the brown neck and headstock. I gave it a nine in quality because there was 3mm nick on the neck when i got it. Not just a beginner guitar, I've been playing for 4 years and I have 4 guitars now, and this is my best. Buy this Ovation!!!

This is an inexpensive acoustic/electric and it plays and sounds the same way. The sound is hollow and tinny without any of the depth or punch of the more expensive guitars. I was a little disappointed -- I expected more from Ovation. The action is a bit high and the electronics were so - so. If you don't want to pay much... don't expect much.

Hate to be the turd in the punch bowl; I am NOT impressed with this guitar. The coloration is ugly as sin (too orange for my taste - looks like it belongs in a 1970's McDonalds), the shape is awkward as can be (guitar is always slipping, jutting out an odd angles; right arm perpetually uncomfortable, restricted), the sound is thin, flat, and unbalanced, almost strangled, even with an amplifier (hence "the quack" - I feel like I might as well be playing a guitar with only a low E, A, B, and high E); bass is obnoxiously omnipresent, mid-range simply gets lost - I find myself avoiding the low E and A strings as much as possible. In addition, the harmonics of these two strings are strange - the sound goes "sour" in the middle of a chord. You should not have to spend 30+ minutes "fiddling" with knobs to make an ACOUSTIC GUITAR sound worth a darn. Maybe I just have a bad apple, but I am NOT impressed with this Ovation. Find yourself a Fender Malibu if you want a clear, clean, crisp, bright sound, and a comfortable fit, straight out of the box.
i bought this guitar a few weeks ago and i love the sound i get out of it. it has great sound for the price.
Decided to get back into the Guitar - I took on a gig playing with my church chior. So, I had to decide on a guitar. Do I get the el-cheapo or do I get the $3,000 top-of-the-line. Well, I chose to go middle of the road. What a great choice! The action is low and plays very well. It's very easy to tune. And, the unique body really helps project the sound. I've yet to plug it in for a gig because it plays so loud. The common cords come through so clean. Wow - I am really pleased with this instrument!
It's hard to find a product in which quality and value exceeds cost, but this one does
I just got the guitar today and it has the nicest tone that I have heard. The body has a nice finish.
I have owned this guitar for a few months and I am very pleased with the sound qaulity also it's look. With the built in tuner you can get tuned quickly. I did change the strings to extra lights and lowered the action a bit but the guitar is still pretty good without that..Great for beginners and active or any type of level guitarist great for the low price. I highly recommend this guitar to anyone.
I boought this guitar almost a year ago and I love it. It is great for a beginning guitar. I have dropped it so many times and it still plays like it did the first day I had it. I chose it because my instructor who has over 10 years ofexperience recommended it to me. If you are just starting out, this guitar is very easy to learn on. But, if you are looking for something with good projection, this is not the guitar for you.
I own this guitar and use it for some solo work I do. It has a nice deep sound, and a very playable neck for an acoustic. The sound is nice through the right amp, and it stays in tune nicely. The only problem I've seen out of it is the wiring on the inside of the body came unglued from the wall (through fault of my own), which does not affect the sound or function of the guitar, but is visible occasionally, otherwise this is a nice guitar for a cheap price.
It has a beautiful tone. When plugged into an amp there are few guitars that can beat it. Has a great feel. If you're willing to deal with the rounded body, this guitar is for you.
This guitar is great!! After spending a few days reading and re-reading reviews of this guitar and many others, I decided to go with the Ovation CC026. Mainly because of the price. As soon as I got it out of the box I fell in love with this thing. It looks amazing and the sound is great. It doesn't sound too tinny like many acoustic-electrics can. The equalizer allows you to choose the sound you want you can get that nice warm bright acoustic-electric sound or go with a more shallow tinny sound. You will not be dissapointed with this guitar!!
