I have had this guitar for 6 years now and have learned just about all that I know on this guitar. The thing that I struggled with initially was the shape of the body made it prone to sliding off of my leg while playing. When you get used to it, it's not a big deal at all. Someone commented that the neck is thick on this guitar, and I would actually say the opposite. Sure, it's no electric guitar, but as far as acoustics go, I've played muuuuch worse.

The greatest benefit to this guitar, it's biggest selling point as far as I'm concerned, is the way it plays through a PA system. I found this guitar incredibly well rounded and able to handle anything I wanted to play with it. The sound was great and a lot of that is owed to the fantastic electronics that come with this guitar. When you coupled that with its other benefits, there's no reason not to buy this guitar other than if you didn't like their tone.

The tone of this guitar isn't like other acoustics. It sounds different, but not a bad different. I like it, and anyone I know that's played it has enjoyed it. I would far prefer owning an Ovation to a Takamine or something like that. Honestly, I've loved this guitar and despite my other recent purchases, I won't be forgetting about it.

I got this as my first guitar, I've had it for a year now and it worked pretty well as a first guitar to learn on. Now that I've learned to play, I find myself wanting something with a better tone and lower action. I've thought about having the action lowered but I don't want to spend the money on a guitar that I don't really like. For the price, this guitar sounds pretty good, plugged in it can sound a little brassy though. I don't like the thickness of the neck, I've played two of my friend's Martins and When I picked it up I immediately realized what I'd been missing, so now I'm saving up for a Martin D-15. I gotta have some tone or I'm gonna go crazy.

Had it, Loved it, it broke.

Comments about Ovation Celebrity CC24 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar about 4 years back and have loved it ever since. The sound was always amazing, and it was very easy to play. I was able to help teach several people to play using this guitar because it is very comfortable. I definitely recommend it for anyone who is looking for a good low/mid priced guitar. What i was very unhappy with was the quality with which it was made. I recently found it broken in two pieces. It had snapped at the connection of the neck to the body. Upon inspection of the broken part, the wood that holds the neck together was very soft, and there was little to no glue where it should have been. The guitar i once loved was destroyed because of very poor quality in assembly. I gave it a good rating because its playability is phenomenal, but the quality (from my experience here, i've never heard this happen to anyone else) is questionable. Like i said, i've had this guitar for years and never had a problem with it, and it wasn't until i looked behind the scenes that i saw the cheap work. Loved to play it, not happy with how it was made.

Comments about Ovation Celebrity CC24 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar at the beginning of the summer as a birthday present. I had wanted an ovation for a while, and I was thrilled when I got it. So far it has even gone beyond my expectations in some ways.I really love the feal of this guitar, and the synthetic body feels great and is very comfortable. It came with the acton nice and high, which is a preference of mine. As acoustcs go, It plays somewhat more like an electric. The sound is wonderful. You would think that a synthetic guitar would sound worse than a guitar made of wood, but this guitar sounds great. Unplugged, it's really nice. Plugged in it blows you away. No buzzing anytimeAny person wanting a sturdy guitar that's good for traveling, look no further. I have bumped it thousands of times taking it places, on hand railings, walls, poles, you name it. But because of it's synthetic body, it doesn't leave a scratch. For anyone reading this review, I would recommend this guitar. It's just simply a great instrument, and I say go for it.

      Guitar of Many Sounds...

Comments about Ovation Celebrity CC24 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have owned this guitar for three years now, it has amazing sound, is incredibly durable. This guitar makes a good thrasher or just a nice guitar. I have had mine through water, drunks at parties, music festivals, and in the outdoors allot and I have no fret buzz at all. One of my favorite parts about this guitar is the versatility in sound, you can tune it low or high and it still has great sound no matter what. I've been using this guitar nonstop pretty much. I just keep changing the strings and it just keeps playing, it's invincible.

Comments about Ovation Celebrity CC24 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar as a present for myself for gettin in the band at my church. I have played guitar for about 4 years and I have played a few expensive guitars, but nothing comes close to my Ovation. I love this thing! There is never feed back, the built-in tuner makes it easy to keep sounding good. I believe that this guitar, even though it's and acoustic, sounds better than my American Fender Strat. Buy this guitar!!

      Good guitar for the price

      By chameleon3

      from Memphis

Comments about Ovation Celebrity CC24 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've owned this guitar for about 3 years, and overall I've been quite pleased.A few things to note:1) The onboard tuner cuts the signal from the preamp, which renders the tuner useless for live playing. It is, as other reviewers have noted, extremely accurate and handy for acoustic or tuning up before a show.2) Those with large hands beware: the neck is quite small relative to most acoustic/electrics.3) My tuners were less than fantastic. YMMV.It might take a while to get used to the bowl, but you'll grow to love it. Our other guitar player is quite a klutz, so the hard back has saved us numerous times :-)Everything else about the guitar is fantastic. I heartily endorse it for someone's second purchase (I'm assuming everyone learned on a klunker like I did). It's ideal to prepare you for the next level.

      Super Value

      By Pugsley

      from Michigan

Comments about Ovation Celebrity CC24 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

'Bought the Celebrity from used stock, (although tags were still intact,) must have been a showroom demo in perfect shape. Great playability & sounds great plugged in with a minor bit of Eq tweaking. I'm a "campfire strummer" at best, but still needed to find an inexpensive way to plug in for a few charity gigs. I upgraded from a non-acoustic Ibanez dreadnought that I love dearly, but this Ovation is really an incredible value. Neck has great feel. Simply tuned it up, (with the built in tuner I wasn't even expecting,) and started playing. Sure, you can spend a ton more on a Martin or Takamine if you're in that league, but for an entry level to average skilled player that wants to plug in with a great looking guitar, look no further. I couldn't be more pleased. Ovation deserves a "standing ovation" on this guitar.

I bought the CC24 about six months ago, and i love it. I went through a couple brands of string before I absolutely fell in love. If you want to make it sing beautifully do yourself a favor and out on a new set of Elixir poly's. In my case (52-11) wer perfect! Buy this baby!

Comments about Ovation Celebrity CC24 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I read all your reviews and headed to my local guitar shop. Tried it out and left very disappointed. The action is high, the guitar doesn't play easy and most of all the sound (acoustic only) is below average. It may be a good acoustic/electric guitar if you plan to have it hooked up to an amp all the time, but as far as acoustic only it lacks volume. I tried the Ibanez AEG20 and that was way better.

Comments about Ovation Celebrity CC24 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar about a month ago, and I've never played anything that sounds like this. I love the tone, and the action feels perfect. The tuners on it keep it in tune without ever having to worry about it. I tuned it when I first got it and havn't had to do it since. But I love knowing that when I do need to do it again, the on board tuner is always there. The electric acoustic sound it awesome on this guitar. It's fantastic.I am all around pleased with this guitar. Not only does it sound nice, but it's also beautiful to look at. I was lucky enough to get ahold of a CC-24Q which looks nothing short of stunning in real life.

      A Great Guitar

Comments about Ovation Celebrity CC24 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I played this guitar at my friend's grandparents house and it blows my Ibanez away. It's top notch quality (which can always be expected from Ovation) and the lyrachord gives a unique tone. It's crisp and clear. It stayed perfectly in tune the whole time, which always a plus. My only complaint (and this is more of a personal preference) is that the fretboard radius is a bit small for my freakishly long fingers. All in all, this is a fantastic guitar for a price that you don't have to be a celebrity to afford.

Comments about Ovation Celebrity CC24 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar 3 years ago, as an upgrade from nylon strings, and at the time i was just ecstatic about the massive upgrade. Its been good to me, apart from a strange anomaly where it breaks the g string all the time, even when its new. Its reliable and has a decent action in my opinion, though there is better out there, for the price? Im not so sure.Im in the market now for a better guitar, like a taylor or a martin, because, after i went to go record with my ovation, it sounded like a rinky dinky little toy. It might be the carbon fiber body. Now everytime I hear it, I think wow its to bright, "wow i wish it had a warmer fuller tone"When buying this consider, do i want to save up now for the best or use 350 now, and save up all over again for a better one later?

      from Philadelphia, PA

Comments about Ovation Celebrity CC24 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I was looking for a cheap acoustic-electric that would sound unplugged and plugged in. I was ready to leave when I picked up an ovation to mess around with. My friend had an ovation and I hated it. I liked this one and couldn't believe how smooth the neck felt. I first played it unplugged and thought it had a great tone to it. I plugged it in and was immediately surprised. Great guitar; so great that I walked out with it.

Comments about Ovation Celebrity CC24 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I was in the market for an acoustic-electric, and I've played around with my pastors' Ovations and decided it was for me.This baby is amazing. The tone is unbelievable, and it has the best tuners I've ever seen. My guitar is subjected to both burning hot and freezing cold temperatures, and I'm always able to pick it up and play at the drop of a hat. But even when it needs tuning, the on-board tuner is more than up to the job.The action is a little stiff, making my Phosphor Bronze Light strings feel heavy, but I wouldn't trade her for the world.

      Pleasantly Surprised

      By TheDiscipleJesusLoved

      from Mississippi

Comments about Ovation Celebrity CC24 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Between ordering my Ovation Celebrity CC24 and receiving it, I heard from every guitarist I know that Ovations sound 'plasticky'. When I actually got it I found it to have a nice rich sound. Others were surprised by it too. I haven't played it amp'd but twice and had a little feedback issue each time. That was easily solved with the EQ. The action is a little higher than I'm used to, but it's not too terrible and I'm getting used to it. I bombed because of it the first time I led worship at church with my new guitar. As far as the well known slipping issue due to the rounded bowl goes, it has a good sized flat spot on the bottom where it sits on your knee, so I don't have a problem seated. Also, because of the noisy industrial environment that I've worked in for the past 20 years, I tend to turn the sound hole up to hear it anyway. I'm not sure what the reason is, whether its the strings that came with it or the tuners or something else, but it also stays in tune much longer than my old guitar did.
