After owning this guitar for a year I thought I'd write a review. I was surprised how good this guitar is for the money, great neck, low action OP-30 pickup, built in tuner, beautiful to look at. I don't think you will find a better one for the money. I use it on stage along side a vintage martin D-18S and a Taylor XXX-MS. I play a lot of different styles of Christian music. This is a great choice for christian acoustic rock. With effect petals I can go from a clear acoustic sound to a hollow body electric sound. Our bass player (not an Ovation fan) was amazed at what this guitar could do, how easy it played ,and how full it sounded. I use the Martin for traditional Bluegrass sound, The Taylor for country, Finger picking style, and Folk sound, but I always use the Ovation for the acoustic rock sound. Great plugged in but somewhat weak unplugged.

I recently ordered this guitar and when it arrived, I was surprised at how beautifully it played but how horrifyingly quiet it was. Honestly I felt as if I could barely hear the guitar. The sound holes make much less sound where they are, and if you don't have it plugged you cant hear a thing when playing with others. When this guitar is plugged in, it sounds better than any electric acoustic I have played.

1st Neck Crack

By NYLifeInNJ

from NJ

I've never preferred Ovation, but I bought this guitar for my sister because she has a problem with how regular acoustics feel. After 6 months, I suddenly found a crack at the neck joint. This is so far the worst guitar that I've ever bought.

read the fine print

By travelling

For startes mine showed up with the binding damaged. The back of the neck was very rough and the fret wire and fingerboard on the top edge was practically unfinished and chews my hand up. This is OK if you play classic style and don't wrap your hand around the neck like I do. For the haters this is a piece of wood glued to a piece of plastic. Don't even bother playing acoustically because it can't be heard so forget about campfire songs. The electric sound thru my Trace Elliots is incredible crisp clear bight with a warm mellow happy sound. On that it is worth the money but if you prefer/need to mike your acoustic again forget it. I own several Ovations that I do not want to travel with anymore and bought this to replace them and the CSE 44 is the worst of the lot. (30+ years of playing and using hundreds of GTRs)

Best Guitar I have ever played.

By titansmlb102

I get an amazing sound out of this, with the same tone and depth as my 1974 Takamine Acoustic. The tuner on board is great, and delivers. I have been playing with the strings it came with, and still sounds amazing. I cannot wait to see how it sounds with Elixirs on there. I have played this acoustically, and through the sound system at my youth group, and once you plug it in and mess with the EQ settings, it feels like you are playing a $1000 guitar. A rich sound with not a lot of buzz for this price? I'll take it!

Simply Amazing!

By Luke-6W3e0

I'll agree that you will certainly get better sounds out of other guitars, especially from an acoustic stand-point, but I'm always amazed every time I plug the guitar into an amp at the sound. It's unmistakable. It's got perfect mid's, and a clarity unlike anything I've ever played. When playing open chords or strumming it really is about as good as you can get. I've had friends in the recording business actually amazed at the unaffected sound of the guitar playing through a normal chord progression. The acoustic sound can sound a little "hollow" at times because of the plastic backing, but I've still yet to hear a guitar with a better sound under the $2000 range. Best money can buy for sure. No matter how many acoustic guitars I have, or will have, this will always be my favourite guitar.

Greatest acoustic I've played

I'll never buy another brand acoustic/electric. I've played Martins and Gibsons, but if you wanna play through an amp this is the only way to go.

Its Like Willie Nelson

By TeleTwang

from Southern Illinois

Ovations are like Willie Nelson, you either love em or hate em for the round back. I love em. I have 2 of these. Granted they do not have that warm low end of an all wood dread but you they are so crisp. They sound awesome plugged in. Throw a new set of Elixirs on em and and you couldn't ask for a brighter clear sound.

This guitar is not only beautiful it has a deep, rich sound and plays so smoothly. The built in tuner is very handy and the built in equilizer really lets you customize your sound. GREAT!!
