I just played this Ovation guitar at a local music store today. Although it was not the guitar I originally intended to look at, it was the one I liked the best after trying several in the Ovation product line (and others). The action is nice and low. The neck is narrow, much like an electric, but it has a nice solid wood feel to it. Definitely try this out if you are considering an Ovation.
I just bought this guitar about a month ago and have performed a few times with it. I have to say that is was a great buy. I was using a Yamaha Classical with nylon strings before.. for the past 25years... I went to the music shop looking for something inspiring.. I played a number of Ovations there and this one seemed to be the most comfortable... It plays like a dream... Very clear and crisp sound.. Once I got it home it's been VERY HARD to put down.. Action is alot faster than anything I've played before.. Definitely recommend this guitar to anyone who's serious about improving their sound, plugged or unplugged this guitar sounds great...Also a word to the wise... Make sure to put new strings on ANY guitar you buy... who knows how long they've been on there...:)
I owned Ovation Celebrity Deluxe, Applause, Ovation LX Elite and now i recently bought this KOA model hoping it would replace my celebrity deluxe (neck broke).I gotta say, this guitar lived beyond my expectation with minor disappointment. It has a very even response compared to the super shallow body and a nice low punch. It has warmth i've been looking for (martin guitar style) while maintaining the ovation brightness and crispness. The KOA look is just plain awesome to look at. Plugin is awesome but the pro OP would have been better. I only had two disappointments. 1. the onboard tuner tends to swivel back and forth by itself even when tuning in complete silence so you never know when you are fully in tune, but i always use my BOSS tuner to tune anywayz so no biggy. 2. The projection when it is not unplugged is pretty low. Well-balanced but compared to my other ovations, it simply doesn't project as well. not "loud" if you will. So if you are looking for a guitar to mic or to play without amplification, this may be a problem.
