I have a story behind my review...I first seen a double neck ovation 4 years ago when I watched "No Quarter : Jimmy Page and Robert Plant" and I always wanted one since. Now, 4 years later (and 4 years of playing guitar later) I seen these avalible online and I was stunned. I went to guitar center just to play this one (although I also played an SG there from epiphone, and was dissapointed, but anyways) I was just stunned. The six string played like a good acoustic should and the twelve strong was the best 1 string sound I have ever heard of. This was my first time playing an ovation, and I look foward to buying products from ovation, especially this one (when I get the money). For all of you musicians out there who want to be different while at the same time getting a beautiful sound, save up for this guitar : its worth it.

So I went shopping for a new 12 sting last week. Stopped in to the local music shop and saw this double neck ovation. Had the salesman tune it up and i gave it a try. Horribly unbalnced but hay it's a DDB neck acoustic so oh well you know. Well after putting it back on the wall we all hear a crack. Didn't really know where it came form. When then a few more and bam. The strings pull the bridge right off the body. Maybe this was just a lemon of a guitar i played but if you are looking at this guitar to buy. take a nice long close look at it and be sure it isnt going to fall apart on you.

Nicely Done!

By ShizzyBrane

from Kansas City

I am impressed with this guitar. The sound and sustain of the 12 string is so beautiful even when unamplified. When plugged into an acoustic amp with slight echo/delay, this 12 string neck becomes an absolute powerhouse. The 6 string neck has a rich, deep sound to it, and is suprisingly easy to reach and play. The finish is beautiful, as is the rest of the body.My only gripes would be 1) the placement of the pickup switch, when I sit down and play, the switch pokes me in the chest.2) the weight of both necks take a little time to get used to... but if you want both a quality 6 string and an amzing 12 string at your disposal, this is a GREAT purchase.

Nice Axe

By Palomino Mike

from Arizona

Other than the action being a little on the high side and that silly switch placement (what were they thinking?), I love the tone quality and versatility of this guitar. However, it does take some getting used to. It's reasonably priced and it's a nice unique show piece. Consider attatching the strap near the nut on the 12 string neck to balance it.

Dream

By Maximo Medeiros

from Georgia

This guitar is a dream. The pre amp is excelent, with with nice shaping with the mid button variations, besides the three graphic sliders for low/mid/high. The only thing lacking is something one should do by oneself: ( I plan to ) install a magnectic pick-up on the six-string so as to have 12 strings acoustic/six strings acoustic AND (or ) electric. Can't live without it, is my no. 1 guitar!

Loads of Fun!

By lettheledout

from North Carolina

I recently bought this guitar mainly because I've been wanting a good twelve string and this guitar intrigued me. I have to say it plays awesome. The only thing that has bugged me is that the six string has some fret buzz, but I'm sure I can have that adjusted. It's really fun and really impressive. If you love acoustics you'll love this baby. The playability is great!

A Working Musicians Axe

By Death Watch Cat

from Deltona Fl

It was love at first sight, and after six years of spilled beers, being knocked about on stage by over enthusiastic revelers, and being played 4-6 nights a week, we are still together and still loving it. The problem with the switch placement is a real concern- you can inadvertantly switch neck pickups while playing. I saw a crack developing in the bowl after one raucous gig three years ago and applied super glue liberally to the area and have effectively saved the guitar. I would have preferred a slightly wider neck on the 12 to facilitate fingerpicking. The 6 neck is simply wonderful. The sound is great, though I have shorted out the entire guitar several times with sweat- takes about an hour to dry out and come to life. If it ever does kick on me, I plan to replace it immediately.

Outstanding Playability and sound

By Guitar Wizzard

An absolutely top notch guitar produced by Kaman music. It has every feature that you could ask for and some that you don't ask for. Being able to switch from a 6 string to a 12 string on stage without the inconvenience of switching guitars is great, the electronics are top quality and the sound is out of this world. I would recommend this to any musician who plays both a 6 or 12 string, you will be the envy of every musician around you, and will wonder how you ever lived without it.

I love my Double Neck Ovation!

By Ivey Menzietti-Ellis

from Maine

I waited a long time for it to arrive, but when it did it was well worth the wait. It sounds great and is very handy for the work I do. I play on a 4 masted schooner and switch between my 12 string, my 6 string guitar and my banjo. It's very handy to only have to carry on two instruments. Plug this baby in. You can't go wrong.

The best guitar for show

By Ed Navarro

from San Juan, PR

See all my reviews

This guitar has a great action in both arms. The sound is amazing, so you can play your favorite acoustic song in 12 strings and then change to 6 strings just in seconds. And the look? you need see the faces of the people when they see the guitar for the first time.

Sweeeeeeet

By The Doctor-wlMAT

from Palm Desert, CA

One, or should I say two, of my 30+ guitars. This is my only double neck. I can't believe the playability of this guitar. Both necks are great. It does take a while to get comfortable with the positioning of the 6 string neck, but after a couple of hours, no problem. Haven't used it "on stage" yet, but it is fun to jam with. This guitar, coupled with my Bose tower PA makes for an easy playing experience.
