I recieved this as a gift from the parents even though I hand-selected it. I played the one at the local shop and I loved it, but when I decided to order it for myself I ran into some problems. I ordered it in black with the inlay binding. The inlay looked nice but around the binding is an aged yellowish look that doesn't match the guitar. There were scratches in the neck just next to the third fret marker on the side. The fifth-teenth fret on the second string buzzed due to the imprinted string (by the way since I used to guitar for about a month the strings have been getting intended, I think the frets need filing). But the major problem was that the bridge pick-up LOVES to cut out. I was doing a concert today actually is why I'm writting this, but the pick-up decided to cut out. It's also very bright, a great lead guitar but I play rhythm.
I got this guitar after my birthday, I was looking for something specifically for metal and that had a floyd tremolo system. I saw that Bananas at Large had it so I gave it a shot. The guitar was great and it looked outstanding. I walked out with it immediately. I couldn't find a guitar for the price that could beat the EXP, nothing can! Later I switched out the bridge with a duncan performer Detonator, and now it looks like a weapon! I love this guitar just as much as my Stratocaster. Highly recommend it!
Let me say that I don't like Peavey guitars because of the style of music I play. I play Metal. Having said that, I bought this guitar and I love it. Great sound, great tone. You will not believe it. If you want a neckthru design at a reasonable price, this is it. Mine is the black with the shell and white binding. This is a really cool guitar.
This is a great guitar the lead guitarist in my band has it but he has the one with the floyd rose. It sounds great and the quality is well worth the price. But if you get the Floyd Rose it's a pain to tune. But yet all Floyd Rose's are.
I've always been into unique/odd body styles for guitars such as explorers, V's, etc, etc. Immediately I was drawn to this axe when I saw it. It's glossy paint is very cool, along with an extensive neck, and body binding which shines beautifully. Once I plugged this thing in, whoa was I blown away, this thing shredds with no limitations due to its neck-thru design. I suggest you give it a shot!!!
This guitar is simply amazing. I got it as a graduation present and it wasn't that expensive. It's perfect for shredding and great for riffing. The tremolo on these seems to have a defect but I fixed that and recently put in a duncan designed pickup on the bridge. Other than the defect with the tremolo which is easily fixable, this guitar is perfect for metal and rock guitarists.
This is my first experience with a Peavey guitar and I have to say, I like playing it as much as I like playing my Strat. I'm Very pleased with it.
I just got this the other day, just in time to use it for a gig. Man, it is amazing!! The balance on this guitar is flawless for the guitar player that is more active from the 12th up. Pickups provide all the neccesary repsonse for Rock/Metal. Beautiful I might add as well.
One of my friends has this guitar and it makes my bc rich nj assassin with emgs look weak. He plays using the Crate 120 watt fullstack and I use the Peavey xxl halfstack and it still makes mine look weak, it has the pro sound that mine can have and works well with lost of distortion and bass. To discribe the pro sound im talking about, it sound very very clear, loud, strong chords and plenty of sustain without any petals.
A good guitar. A little heavy, but it makes up for it with awesome sound and playability. A little too pricey, however.
