The 25th Anniversary Mira, has a very deep blue hue, which from a distance reflects a highly polished finish. The neck is set in a pocket which provides a stable connection to the body. The nut and bridge carry the strings at a wonderfull height, which enables the player to enhance the tone with a fluctuating vibrato. The soap bar pick ups transfer a warm projection of sound and fullness that adds to the mixture. The volume controls roll like butter and provide a very smooth volume swell. The tuners maintain the thresholds during bends and rapid hammering. The guitar is almost like a heavenly harp, floating in a pool of cool mist. If every note was like a falling rain drop. Then step into a dark shower that drizzles into the ear canal and flows through the auditory ganglia of pure musical cleanliness. Holding the Mira while bathing in a mixture of a blues shuffle can make any fan bend over and reach for that bar ofsoap. This guitar wants you to touch it. And it makes you feel like exploring places that an average musician would just be to hesitant to pack up the trunk and risk the journey. This instruement is made to be used in a special way. Every square inch of this guitar seems to sing in a cosmic shower. You are never alone while washing your soul, or even while noodleing while scrubbing between your toes. This Mira is 25 years of a dirty blues. And the soapbars have just enough clean power and slap. But you'll never miss a spot with this guitar, because it's watching your back, while another may be holding the shower gel, while washing your back.
At first I didn't care for the Mira, too plain, almost pawn shop retro. But then curiosity got the best of me, so I tried out a 25th Anniversary Soapbar in Sapphire burst - I changed my tune VERY quickly! While this is a fairly simple, straightforward design, it has a lot going for it. Think of it as an SG Special-type of guitar and you're in the ballpark. Lightweight and very well balanced, it hangs nicely with no head dive. The Seymour Duncan made P-90's are wonderfully versatile, with a lovely snarl when cranked, and then cleaning up nicely with a turn of the volume control. This is my first P-90 equipped guitar, and I have to say that I severely underestimated these pickups, they are an abslute joy to play. That would also describe the guitar as a whole! You get that quality PRS construction, finish and setup. When seen up close, the beauty of the Mira really shines through. It's the little things that make a great guitar, and PRS are the masters of those little touches. The Mira lives up to it's pedigree in every way.
