Updated with new neck, new finish, and improved electronics.

The Custom 24 is the original PRS¦the guitar Paul Reed Smith took to his first tradeshow in 1985. A perennial favorite with musicians, this 10-Top model has been updated for 2011 with V12 finish, a Pattern Regular mahogany neck, and uncovered 59/09 pickups wired for the redesigned 5-way blade switch, which offers a dual humbucker option for the first time.

V12 Finish
Finish should enhance the look, sound, and feel of a guitar by accentuating the wood's inherent beauty and feel without hindering its natural resonance. And PRS Guitars' new "V12" finish does just that. Introduced at Experience PRS 2010, "V12" is a very thin, hard, and clear finish that will not crack or react with thinners. After roughly 12 years in development, it is halfway between acrylic and nitro but with a classic feel all its own. "PRS models with this new finish feel like old instruments," said Paul Reed Smith.

Pattern Regular Shape
Neck shapes have always been a high priority for PRS and a hallmark of PRS quality. A guitar should feel comfortable, like "home," as soon as you pick it up, and the neck is paramount to that connection. The new "Pattern Regular" neck shape is similar to the traditional PRS regular neck found on guitars made in the late 80's at PRS's former Virginia Avenue location.

This new neck shape reflects modern tooling and programming that allows PRS to even more preciously shape and consistently reproduce their necks.

Comments about PRS Custom 24 10-Top Electric Guitar:

If you love Strats or les Pauls get this guitar cause its the best of both worlds!
The guitar is amazing. Stays perfectly in tune. This PRS is extremely beautiful and the craftmanship is like no other. It kinda scares me to play it sometimes since its like a work of art. Its like playing catch with a picasso painting. If you get this guitar you wont regret it! the sound Is flawless, and the guitar is very easy to play from the start. Once you pick it up you cant put it down. I wrote this review just now after playing 3 hours on it. enough said,.... GET ONE!

Comments about PRS Custom 24 10-Top Electric Guitar:

It's one of the best guitars you can buy - no doubt. They hold their value and they are so beautiful and sound so sweet. Save your money and treat yourself to one. It might take a while but it's worth it.
Hot pickups that sound amazing in every position - 5 way blade switch (no more fumbling with that rotary switch!) Beautiful gloss finish - stays in tune and seems lighter than my previous Custom 24. The only thing I can say is I have to question the new open back tuners. They just don't feel quite as smooth as the phase 2 tuners.
What can I say - It's an American-made PRS - it's a joy to play. The finish (mine is black gold) is incredible. So stable and so easy to lay - the new neck shape is so comfortable.
Yes - it's an expensive instrument but it's worth it. This is a guitar you can keep for a lifetime. The only problem is when you get one you want to get another one. I'm not rich - far from it. I was able to get this guitar through saving my money and getting profit sharing through the company I work for. I also should mention I didn't buy it new. I got it off Ebay and it had a small chip in the finish on the lower edge that is pretty hard to see. I consider it a real bargain because I bought the guitar for the sound and playability - not to just hang it on the wall to look at.

Comments about PRS Custom 24 10-Top Electric Guitar:

I do love this guitar but i have found the v12 finish to be very poor in the durability area. For 3g plus you shouldn't have chipping of the finish when you bump it lightly. I think if I buy another prs i'll get a used one without this finish.
