Updated with new neck, new finish, and improved electronics.
The Custom 24 is the original PRS…the guitar Paul Reed Smith took to his first tradeshow in 1985. A perennial favorite with musicians, this 10-Top model has been updated for 2011 with V12 finish, a Pattern Regular mahogany neck, and uncovered 59/09 pickups wired for the redesigned 5-way blade switch, which offers a dual humbucker option for the first time.
V12 Finish
Finish should enhance the look, sound, and feel of a guitar by accentuating the wood's inherent beauty and feel without hindering its natural resonance. And PRS Guitars' new "V12" finish does just that. Introduced at Experience PRS 2010, "V12" is a very thin, hard, and clear finish that will not crack or react with thinners. After roughly 12 years in development, it is halfway between acrylic and nitro but with a classic feel all its own. "PRS models with this new finish feel like old instruments," said Paul Reed Smith.
Pattern Regular Shape
Neck shapes have always been a high priority for PRS and a hallmark of PRS quality. A guitar should feel comfortable, like "home," as soon as you pick it up, and the neck is paramount to that connection. The new "Pattern Regular" neck shape is similar to the traditional PRS regular neck found on guitars made in the late 80's at PRS's former Virginia Avenue location.
This new neck shape reflects modern tooling and programming that allows PRS to even more preciously shape and consistently reproduce their necks.

Comments about PRS Custom 24 Left Handed Quilt 10 Top Electric Guitar:
FIT & FUNCTION: AMAZING!!!! Holding this guitar in your hands, you can just tell how much pride and care went into it. This guitar feels magnificent. The tone is stellar, -best clean tone I've ever heard, and it still dirties-up very well. Perfect guitar for low-mid gain use. If Cadillac made a guitar, this would be it, -high quality, luxury guitar. I love it.
-If I had a complaint, it would be the tremelo, This guitar has a "Strat-style" tremelo, I normally play a Floyd Rose Tremelo, which works better for me. No worries though, I just took the bar off and put the it back in the case and have been playing this guitar (almost) constantly since it arrived.
LOOKS: I got the 10 Top Charcoal burst , and it is the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen. For a little more, for me, the 10 Top was the way to go. -I mean you're already paying for a PRS, might as well get the extra-pretty one, right?
PACKAGING/OVERALL: My guitar shipped free, it came with a LEFT HANDED PRS case and all the case candy. I'd never seen a left handed case. Case was in a box, wrapped in foam and then another box. The whole transaction was very pleasant.
It's expensive, but I had to jump at the chance to have one. For lefties, there are only so many of these amzing instruments out there, and now one of them is MINE!!!
