The celestial voice of PRS shines on with coil-tapping, a set neck, and old school vibe.

The PRS Guitars Mira is an electric guitar for today's players with classic feel and tone but with the quality and stability you've come to expect from PRS. The Mira guitar features a thinner, solid mahogany body, 24-fret neck, matching pickguard and trussrod cover, Mira pickups, 3-way pickup selector and a mini toggle coil tap.

Latin for wonderful, Mira is also the name of an unusually fast moving star located approximately 350 light years from earth. PRS gave their Mira star treatment with 24 frets, 25" scale, 10" radius, regular neck shape. Also features locking tuning pegs, PRS non-adjustable stoptail, Abalone moon inlays, East Indian rosewood fingerboard, a solid mahogany body and neck, Mira treble and bass pickups. Controls include volume, tone, 3-way blade switch and mini toggle coil tap. This combination of features lends a new voice to the PRS lineup.

    PRS Mira...Regular Neck

Comments about PRS Mira Double Cut Electric Guitar w/Moon Inlays and Standard Neck:

    9
I bought this Guitar about a year ago... and spent that amount of time gigging with it in a local cover band. I think I can give potential buyers an honest opinion about the Mira. I lean toward playing long scale guitars like Strats because they fit my hands better. The Mira falls into this category and the regular neck feels pretty close to my Strat. The build quality on this guitar is really nice. I've never owned a PRS but at a glance it was flawless. It stays in tune very very well. There were absolutely no dead spots on the neck, and the low action makes playing long hours like butter. The tone on the Mira can cover a wide range of styles, especially with the coil tap, which of course brightens up the tone when you flick it. After playing on it for a year, I really felt that the only weak spot on the Mira was the stock pick ups. The neck pick up in particular was just way too muddy and washed out. After some research, I had my local guitar tech run a complete set up on the guitar and put in a DiMarzio Humbucker from Hell in the neck position and a Fred DiMarzio in the bridge. The new picks ups absolutely changed the tone profile of the guitar for the better. Both pickups give the guitar more balls and harmonic clarity. On the clean channel through my Fender VM... its almost acoustic-like. The H-bucker from Hell was designed to brighten up the tone and did so in spades. When you run both together in the middle position on your drive channel. I could swear I was playing through a single coil strat. Definitely no regrets on purchasing this great guitar. With the stock pick ups I would rate it a four out of five stars but with the higher quality DiMarzio's in there it's a five. I can't put this guitar down. Life's too short to play on crappy guitars... so don't. Treat yourself to this guitar and smile for days. Play it hard for a year and have the neck adjusted by someone qualified... 9swap the pick ups and let her rip!

    Sweet Unique Midrange Voice

Comments about PRS Mira Double Cut Electric Guitar w/Moon Inlays and Standard Neck:

I have had this guitar for a little while now. I have to say that if I could have purchased one several years ago I wouldn't have spent thousands buying Gibsons. Very useable sounds. Sweet vocal quality in the midrange. I have to say that the people who complain about the coil splitting losing volume have obviously never had any experience with coil tapping. It is impossible to turn off half the pickup and not lose some volume. It is a minor thing, for me at least. I generally roll back the volume a bit on the humbuckers. When I split the pickups I just turn it up. Great sound, perfection in workmanship. Well worth what I paid for it.

    Understated and Cool

    By Motutron

Comments about PRS Mira Double Cut Electric Guitar w/Moon Inlays and Standard Neck:

The first thing I noticed about this guitar is how light it is and how long the neck looked compared to the body. I was skeptical. Then I played it. WOW! It is so comfortable and so well built. Please don't be fooled by it's modest (if not downright homely) looks, this guitar is impressive. Fast neck, beautiful electronics (try rolling the tone knob all the way back on the neck pickup), excellent hardware. With the locking tuners you can change your strings in a matter of 10-15 minutes. This guitar has one of the best coil tap functions I think I've ever had the pleasure of using. There is a very wide range of tones you can achieve with just the on board electronics. The three way toggle will quickly become the most useful tool in your effects arsenal! If something were to happen to my beloved Mira, I would order another one without hesitation. If you like versatility and excellent quality at a reasonable (it's a PRS) price, quit messing around. BUY ONE NOW!

    PRS Mira a good find

    By David Jay

    from Vienna Virginia

Comments about PRS Mira Double Cut Electric Guitar w/Moon Inlays and Standard Neck:

I have the black Mira w/birds(08133359) classic slim neck. I play without a whamy or pick and in this the Mira is a tone machine. Like in other reviews the mid between the two picks can muddy but the amp volume can solve this. It plays well on Fender Deville Deluxe and the Messa 50/5 express. I like 6L6s. String wise the Mira sets up well with locking tuners (mediumheavy Dean Markley or DeAdario). The build and finish is the best and the tone is fantastic in both lead and solos. Though I would have liked seperate tone and volume controls like the Custome 24. The selector knob will stab you if you get tender picking fingers. The Mira replaces my Epi Les Paul very well. The Gibsons are great but in turn the Mira replaces the Tele/Stratfenders. 'Try "I Know A Little". Buy it for the scale length, the birds, but for the rich buy the PRS custom 24, they are both beautiful any way.

The only electric guitar you will need.

Comments about PRS Mira Double Cut Electric Guitar w/Moon Inlays and Standard Neck:

I was trying out guitars because I wanted a better guitar when I happened to try out the Mira. I have had a Double Cutway Les Paul, an SG Standard, Les Paul Junior and some Fenders I have been pleased with. I played this guitar and it is the best guitar I have ever played. It is the best Paul Reed Smith I have ever played. The neck fit snuggly in my palm with fast low action. The intonation was perfect. Plugged in I could get any sound I wanted. If you are considering an electric guitar, buy the Mira. Need a back up, get another Mira. It is the only electic guitar you will ever need. It is my next guitar purchase. It should be yours. You will not be disappointed.

    Amazing guitar

    By Urksongs

    from Seattle

Comments about PRS Mira Double Cut Electric Guitar w/Moon Inlays and Standard Neck:

I thought I wanted a Gibson or Fender and was having difficulties finding an SG or Strat that not only stayed in tune perfectly but also spoke to me. But then I saw the Mira, fancy retro in appearance, but then I plugged it in! If you're looking for a high quality American-made guitar (with a solid wood body and rosewood fretboard) check out the Mira.Things of note about the Mira: The is a slight drop in volume between the humbuckers and singlecoils (the singlecoils being the quiter of the two), but a little getting used to preparing for the difference by adjusting the volume knob solves any problems--plus, you're not going to find a guitar that IS a singlecoil AND/OR a humbucking guitar. I bought one that has the crecent moon inlays (saving hundreds of dollars), if you want the birds, that's all you'll get by paying extra. Super quality, I got it a week ago and have two blisters. I've been playing guitar for 15 years and should have gone with PRS sooner. They are more consistantly quality-guitars than are Fenders and Gibsons of the same pricerange.I play mine through a solidstate Fender Princeton, a GNX4, Line-6 FM4 and a Line-6 Delay. Now I can acheive a Jimmy Page sound followed by a Hendrix tone, followed by my own sounds on the fly--and nothing is "emulated:" This is the real deal.
