Comments about PRS SE Angelus Standard Acoustic Guitar:

I own too many acoustic guitars and didn't need another. I found this at a new retail shop in Dallas when I went in to check the place out since they opened here in the last year. I played well over a dozen acoustics, including Guilds, Martins, Taylors, and Gibsons. Some good instruments. I was about done when I noticed the PRS instruments seemingly tucked away amongst the others. I remember being very impressed with the high end Pual Reed Smith acoustics I played a couple of years ago. Before I even picked one up I noticed the prices. Hmmmm. As I reached for the first PRS I took in it's beauty. I picked it up and examined it to verify the usual PRS build quality. Solid.

I played the rosewood with electronics and the Mahoghany backed one. Impressed by both I couldn't get over the price of the Hog version after I played it. Both were extremely comfortable, well made, and sounded fantastic. The tag indicated that the Mahoghany guitar was laminate but it sure sounded like real Hog to me. Since I had everything in my sound palette covered I walked away.

I couldn't stop thinking about this guitar. How good it sounded. How well built it was and how good it looked. I thought that it even sounded better than the mahoghany dread that I was using for that sound. Long story short I went back and bought it after A/B ing it. Got an incredible price brand new with a decent PRS case. I was able to sell 3 of my other guitars so I netted a profit. Admittedly, one was an old electric that I had been planning to get rid of anyway.

Turns out that this guitar has a back made of solid Hog and laminate sides. The top is a surprisingly nice piece of sitka for an inexpensive guitar. This guitar is better suited for the finger picking that I do and is a nice strummer too. Can change the sound profile with the strings. I love this guitar and still cannot get over how much guitar I got for the price. I thought the price would make it easier for me to take out of the house and travel with than my more expensive acoustics but I have very quickly become attached to it. Family members that play fell in love with it too. A definite keeper.

Comments about PRS SE Angelus Standard Acoustic Guitar:

Obviously a beautiful guitar. Once you get your hands on it, its clear that the construction is solid. That being said, its also incredibly light.

Velvety high ends that don't get too tinny. Lows could be a little deeper but the more I play it the less I notice that. Could also be the strings. Nice low action makes playing a breeze.

Considering the model without pickups is still around 700.00, its a pretty expensive guitar. But you're getting some sound here that you'd expect from a much more expensive piece of wood.

Recommend getting it set up by a pro.

Comments about PRS SE Angelus Standard Acoustic Guitar:

A very well built guitar, great looking and detail. The minute I got it and started playing I realized that this is a type of guitar designed by electric rockers that wanted an acoustic angle. I put lighter stings on and it helped bring out abit of the range for some blues, country, folk type, but it still didn't sound right. so I returned it. First one I ever had to, feel bad about it, but Im stuck in a shack in Montana and I can't drive 150 miles to test a guitar. This is a very nice axe for acoustic rockers.
