Designed with Paul Allender of Cradle of Filth, this SE model by PRS Guitars features a quilted maple veneer with a Custom Allender burst finish, specially-wound Allender pickups, gold hardware, and bats-in-flight inlays.
Paul Allender, lead guitarist of the band Cradle of Filth, is known for his unique style. Paul didn't take any lessons when he was starting out on the guitar. This allowed him to develop his own style very quickly. With his strict right hand rhythm technique and his chromatic writing style, Paul Allender's sound is easily identifiable.
Paul started playing PRS when he left Cradle of Filth and started the band, the Blood Divine. He purchased a second hand CE-24 and used it exclusively throughout the band's days and brought it with him when he rejoined Cradle of Filth at the turn of the century. He then sent a design of his own to PRS. It featured a purple and black sunburst on a curly maple top and replaced the traditional bird inlays with bats for a darker but still classic PRS look. PRS built the guitar for Allender as a private stock model, but it eventually made it to production as an SE model.
Built to scream aggressive Goth rock.

I own several pop guitars Am deluxe strats, Custom LP, es-355, Hagstrom, Hofner, you get the idea. I also own a custom 24 and Santana Se model and I must say this guitar keeps up with them all. It has looks and it has guts and it sounds great. I am not a wammy bar dive bomber so the tuning is not a problem and It is silly to buy a guitar like this and then invest a couple of hundred more dollars in pickups and tuners. Nope I bought the guitar because of what it sounds like and how great it plays and man it does both very well.
this guitar is a great buy, although I'm not sure I would ever agree with the people who compare this neck to a JEM as it is in NO way that wide and thin. it's simalar to a JS 1000 model as far as necks go however it is 24 frets. great sounding guitar non the less though I love it very much. I have added a fernandez sustainer and a set of locking pegs... but other than that not much to change going active would probably take away from these prs pick-ups and all the fantastic tone they seem to give to this guitar. pick one up at your local shop and give it a try and you'll see what we're all raving about :-D
I am a player of many styles, and this is a very versitile guitar. The neck setup and the sound you get is great. You can get any sound from Santana and Neal Schon to Slayer and Cradle of Filth. definitely worth the money.
Beautiful guitar!!! Amazing inlays!!! Real class!!! Touch the tremolo, and you're going out of tune. If you buy this, buy some locking tuners and you'll be all set. GREAT GUITAR
I have used this guitar for everything from fast speed metal to bright Chords. Only problem is the strings like to go out of tune even with light tremolo use. Pickups have great high gain excellent for harmonics and dont give alot of feedback.
I got this for Christmas as an upgrade to the Dean I've been playing. The color and finish is what drew me in (the pics don't do it justice). I was playing it through a 15 watt Line 6 and had to use an array of pedals to get the sound I wanted and we pretty happy for the most part. I recently upgraded my amp to a VOX AD50VT XL, and now I can't put this ax down! This thing just sings! Awesome tones, sweet action and the perfect metal sound I've been looking for. I'm not a big Cradle of Filth fan, but this guitar is awesome. Buy it before the price goes up again!
I got this guitar for Christmas and it is awesome. Out of the box there were no dings or dents or anything like that. After a couple hours of playing through my Marshall MG Stack and a little adjusting it is perfect. Nice low action, fast neck and bright, crisp sound from the pick ups. I get really close to early Metallica and AC/DC sounds. Roll a little off the tone and it warms right up into a nice thick bluesy tone. Pinch harmonics are pretty easy and the frets are great. It is also fairly light and doesnt hurt after a couple hours of wailing away.As for appearance it is beautiful!!!! The purple and gold is fantastic. The bats are pretty sweeet to.Overall this is an awesome ax. I own an Epi ZW, Fender tele and an Ibanez RG. This is great for what I want it to do. Cant do everything but what gitar can. It is awesome.
Set up from factory was fair. Fret buzz at 7th and 8th frets after adjusting to my preferred string height, but after some fiddling, got it worked out. Pick ups are excellent for the price range, the color is outstanding. Don't care for the rough saddles, they're rough to keep clean.I truly enjoyed playing contemporary Christian rock on this guitar, it absolutely sang all by itself. I wanted a PRS, got this, and pleased with it.
I recently bought this guitar and I have to say, I prefer it over a Les Paul studio any time. The looks are amazing, although it looks brighter in the pictures, and it sounds great. No effects needed at all. I did switch the pickups to EMG 81/85 active however, just for a heavier sound. It may come delivered with a neck slightly bent forward or backward as most guitars do, however, when adjusted correctly, it is one og the best guitars you can get for its price. Wouldn't recommend it for those who play Alt rock or punk rock stuff, as you may not get the full effect and playability this possessed axe has to offer.
I my dad bought me this guitar for my 15th birthday I was between this and an ESP Viper but, because of the overall look of the Prs I bought it. Its a beautiful guitar but, I have a very hard time keeping it in tune for more than 2 to 3 days. The pick-ups are so so at first I hated them but, once you play it for a while you get an ear for the sound. I do have to say that I does have a very good sounding clean and distorted but, it is terrible about humming. Over all I enjoy it is a very good all around guitar you can pretty much play anything with it.
