OVERVIEW

Honoring Carlos' legacy with an all-new SE Santana.

Carlos Santana's influence as a PRS guitar player led to the development of Paul Reed Smith's SE electric guitar series, which launched in 2001. In honor of that legacy, PRS has created the all-new SE Santana. The SE Santana is the first guitar in the SE series offered with a 24-1/2" scale length and is also the first SE created using the same silhouette as Carlos's revered American-made PRS models. The wide-fat mahogany neck promotes fleet fingering on the 22 frets adorned with "old school" birds while PRS-designed humbuckers offer clear, well-defined tones from clean, to crunch, to hot, full-crank mode. The PRS-designed tuners and PRS-designed tremolo keep you in tune no more how adventuresome your playing may become. This guitar and its appointments honor Santana's skill and style better than ever and offer players great quality and value. Case Sold Separately.

I have been playing since 1968. I am currently in a power trio trying to emulate Gov't Mule. I own two Gibsons(Les Paul Standard & 61 reissue SG) and a Fender (Coronada Stratocaster).

I recieved the PRS Santana SE yesterday. I have been unable to put it down. I am impressed with the quality of workmanship that has went into this guitar. It is actually less flawless than my SG(pick gaurd not fitted properly).

The intonation was dead on out of the box. I adjusted the truss bar and the individual saddles to get the super low action that I prefer. It only took 5 minutes to adjust the action and reset the intonation.

I like the fact that the first thing you see in the documentation is instructions on how to adjust the trust rod if the action is not to your liking. I was planning on installing Schaller strap locks, however upon closer examination the strap retintion knobs are at least 1.5 the size of the strap retention knobs on both my Fender and Gibson.

The vibrato seems to be much more responsive than the vibrato on my Strat. The sound is sweet and the guitar is simply beautiful. For an off shore made instrument I am truly amazed at the quality of workmanship.

I've been playing guitar for 20+ years and play in a gigging local band. I saw the great reviews for these Korean made PRS guitars and thought I'd try one out since they were so darn cheap. Well, the saying holds true, "You get what you pay for." Seriously, these aren't a great guitar--not at all. In fact, I compaired the PRS SE side-by-side with an Epiphone 100 that cost half as much and the Epiphone blew the PRS away in every category but especially in tone. The PRS SE just sounds tinny and I guarantee you that Sanatana is NOT playing through a guitar that is set up like the SE--not ever close. Anyway, save your money and buy a used made in the USA guitar or any Fender or Gibson guitar--they just sound better.

Comments about PRS SE Santana Electric Guitar:

Very nice guitar in all aspects that really matter. It sounds good, plays easily, looks absolutely gorgeous in red, with a nice tone. My only complaint with it is that it is uncomfortable to hold and play while sitting... which is most of the time, for me.

Comments about PRS SE Santana Electric Guitar:

I already had 6 guitars that consist of a Fender Strat Jimmy Vaughn, Fender American Deluxe Strat and Tele, Gibson Les Paul Class Gold top 1960 reissue, Epiphone Custom model made in Japan with two P-90s, and a Ibanez S series. My only reason for giving the kind of guitars I have was to establish that I know a little about the quality of guitars. When you take into consideration that the American Deluxe Strat and Telle are now going for a lot, the Les Paul was more than they were and not even being made now, there is a lot of money in just those 3 guitars. Because of that, I was always under the impression that there was no such thing as a non-American made guitar under $1200.00 worth having. After reading one article after another about the PRS SE series, and seeing how low they were priced I didn't think they could be sold that cheap and still be really good. Then an add caught my attention that talked about PRS making a Santana model SE with the birds on the neck. With nothing more to do I decided to go and try one out. All of my guitars are made well and play great but I paid a high price for them. When I picked up the PRS SE Santana and started playing it over one of the amps, I couldn't believe the price tag on this guitar. Not only does it look like a guitar that would cost more, it plays like a much higher priced brand. The pickups on this are amazing, and when you switch from the neck to the bridge or both pickups you can really hear a difference. Because the neck is a 50s style it takes a little getting used to but once you do it is amazing on how well it plays. This is a must try guitar for any type of player, and after trying it out I purchased it in a heartbeat. When I got home I plugged it in my Marshall JVM410H and the different sounds I could get blew me away. I wouldn't tell PRS this but I would even pay more for a guitar like the SE Santana. It is a great addition to the guitars I already have and much lower in cost.

Love the feel of the neck and balance of the instrument. After locking down the bridge, filing the nut, adjusting the truss and saddles, installing 11 gauge strings and changing out those ugly orange knobs it's as sweet as it can be. Great buy!

Comments about PRS SE Santana Electric Guitar:

This is a cool guitar and very good for the price range, but what PRS isn't? I really like this guitar's jazzy/bluesy warm tone it has. Unfortunetly that is about the only sound it has. If you are looking for a Rock guitar this is NOT FOR YOU! It provides very good quality and sounds for certain styles, but in my opinion it lacks versatility and the ability to do much else than play Santana's style of music. Yes, I would reccomend this, but to a blues or jazz solo player, but not to a rock/punk/or metal player.

se Santana is a fun guitar to play. If your a fan of Gibson necks. Its not your typical PRS neck with the longer scale. this has a very rich full power balls out clean and distorted sound with out having to have an active pickup, and great for recording as well. looks cool! feels cool! Also their is no lock in nuts for your tuning on this model so you better stretch those stings good before whammy in out

Comments about PRS SE Santana Electric Guitar:

The PRS SE Santana is one heck of a guitar. Quality and craftsmanship are similar (if not better) than some of the lower-end Gibson models.
It looks, sounds, and feels amazing and offers a lot of guitar for a very reasonable price. The neck pickup has a nice, deep, bluesy sound to it and the bridge pickup is perfect for lead tones. The tremelo system is comparable to that of a Strat and the tone quality and sustain is comparable to that of a Les Paul.
This guitar is the ultimate gigging machine due to its reliable, high quality construction and simple controls. The shorter scale makes it easier to play and sing at the same time, and its neck is very easy to play on.
The set-up out of the box was decent, but you should always have a luthier or your local guitar shop set up any new guitar. The only thing I would change would be to add locking tuners, but intonation isn't really an issue after set-up.
In summary, this guitar is worth every penny and you will not be disappointed.

My guitar tech, who is very picky, loved this guitar when I brought it in for a setup. He said it was the best Korean made guitar he had ever seen, and was a great overall guitar, period.

Feels great, and has a beautiful finish (I have the yellow). Lots of bang for the buck.

Been playing acoustic for a long time but am kind of new to electric. Even though I play mostly acoustic this is not my first electric, so I do have a frame of reference against which to judge, and I have to say I am very well pleased with this purchase. It plays good, action is fine as is, and sounds good as well. Packaging was good, it was well protected and arrived in perfect shape. It is not necessarily made clear in the description, but mine came with a very nice gig-bag also. Finish and workmanship seem to top notch on all aspects of this guitar, haven't noticed any flaws at all. If you choose this instrument I don't believe you will be disappointed.
