straightforward tone, quality, and comfort in an attractive, no-nonsense package

The Stripped 58 is a vintage-inspired singlecut perfect for more traditional single-cutaway players, the 58 has a classic, resonant voice that is eminently recordable and gig ready. It is also instantly comfortable to players who grew up playing short scale guitars. The “Stripped” 58 will take everything you’ve got and keep asking for more…get your hands on one today.

The Stripped 58 incorporates the following new features:

V12 Finish
Finish should enhance the look, sound, and feel of a guitar by accentuating the wood's inherent beauty and feel without hindering its natural resonance. And PRS Guitars' new "V12" finish does just that. Introduced at Experience PRS 2010, "V12" is a very thin, hard, and clear finish that will not crack or react with thinners. After roughly 12 years in development, it is halfway between acrylic and nitro but with a classic feel all its own. "PRS models with this new finish feel like old instruments," said Paul Reed Smith.

Pattern Neck Shape
Neck shapes have always been a high priority for PRS and a hallmark of their quality. A guitar should feel comfortable, like "home," as soon as you pick it up, and the neck is paramount to that connection. Perfected after years of prototyping, the new "Pattern" neck is an updated Wide Fat PRS neck style based on Paul's pre-factory design. These necks were found on the instruments built for Carlos Santana, Peter Frampton, and Howard Leese from the late '70s to the mid '80s.

Whether in woodworking, machining, or cast and die work, patternmaking is the art of arriving at a perfect standard that can be duplicated or used to create new designs from by "offsetting." All PRS necks came to be as a result of offsetting from this original, Wide Fat design.

PRS Two-Piece Adjustable Bridge
Previously only prototyped on Private Stock guitars, the new PRS two-piece adjustable bridge now comes standard on select PRS models: the SC 58 and the JA 15. The bridge plays a crucial role in the tonal path of a guitar by transferring the string’s vibrations to the tonewood. When executed well, the bridge will enhance the wood’s natural resonance. This two-piece bridge has added weight and mass, creating more contact points, which, in turn, create a more resonant, musical instrument. Similarly, machining rather than casting, gives the brass and aluminum bridge a stronger sound. “I am calling it the ‘new two-piece adjustable sound transfer bridge’ – I’m very happy,” said Paul Reed Smith.

Phase III Locking Tuners
PRS Guitars Phase III tuners are very smooth, high-tolerance pegs feature an elegant design with larger buttons, an open back, and closed housing. Includes case.

Comments about PRS Stripped' 58 Electric Guitar:

Excellent Guitar stays in tune and sounds great. Very solid feel. Im a hard rock guitarist so I did switch out the pickups to the 250's to give it a little more bite. The original pickups sounded great as well but way more vintage which doesnt sound as good when the gain is turned up. A lot of people are turned off because of price but I feel like you get what you pay for. And I have never had such Excellent customer service as I receieve from the guys down at the PRS factory. I had an issue with the saddle screws falling out of the bridge so I called PRS and no hassel sent me a new bridge out right away. Thats where your money goes everyone cause you will not get that from any other guitar company.

Comments about PRS Stripped' 58 Electric Guitar:

This is too nice to gig. I have some used hot rodded LPs for that. The pot arrangement is different than an LP, I prefer the LP. One pot on the PRS is too close to the bridge, but that is just how I play..I have the same problem with Strats. But the PRS plays wonderfully, is bullet proof and is gorgeous. You can get a good or bad Les Paul (although Gibson has uped their game), but every PRS I have owned or played has been perfect. I also much prefer the two piece LP style bridge and tail piece. Thanks PRS.

Comments about PRS Stripped' 58 Electric Guitar:

It's a PRS, just beautiful guitars to look at and play. It's a hefty price tag but you get what you pay for I guess. I would probably have gone with the full SC 58 but the color I wanted is not available.

I've wanted a single cut PRS since I was a teenager, and I'm glad I waited. The 2 piece adjustable bridge design looks so much better, at least for single cuts.

If you're debating between the SC 58 or Les Paul (standard), it's all about preference IMO. You can't go wrong either way. However, I think PRS has distinct themselves from Gibson by creating an instrument as well as a piece of art. Literally speaking, I could hang it on a wall and people could admire it.

          PRS Stripped 58

Comments about PRS Stripped' 58 Electric Guitar:

I was at first disappointed in the level of flame on my particular model however I bought it to play not to look at necessarily. It's still a gorgeous guitar and I'm nitpicking I guess. Ended up keeping it anyway because of the sound and playability.
PRS' take on the Gibby LP. Tune-o-matic style bridge, single cutaway, 24.5" scale, volume and tone knobs for each pickup, bird inlays, etc.

It's "stripped" because compared to the standard SC58 there is no neck binding (which I prefer) and the maple tops aren't necessarily highly figured or "10 Top." The one I got has a one piece top instead of bookmatched.
Built like a tank. Impeccable craftmanship and level to detail.
I rate a 5 only because it's a high priced guitar. No "bang for the buck" it that sense however still worth every penny. It's not going to magically transform you into a great player but you are getting the best quality production guitar out there. It doesn't get much better than this.

Stripped 58 - PRS Does it yet Again!

          By TC Lover

          from Central New York

Comments about PRS Stripped' 58 Electric Guitar:

What can you say, it's a PRS. I love everything about the two I own. The very best build quality, materials, and tone make them King of the Hill in the guitar world. Others come close, but just can't quite match this company.
All one really needs is riight here. The 57/08 pickups are not over-hyped, they are simply amazing. 3-way selector provides three very distinct tones, all incredible. Two volume and two tones controls, great control at your fingertips. Simplicity has never been this great.
PRS quality control is un-equalled by any other US manufacturer, nobody else is in the same league. Every Gibson I've ever bought has had some sort of defect, whether it be a scratch or poor finish work. PRS is different, nothing leaves the factory that isn't perfect and beautiful. Enough said.
Okay, so they are not cheap. Nothing with this much "touch labor" is cheap. The combination of build quality and remarkable tone make it well worth the price.
