Rainsong

The RainSong JM3000 Jumbo 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar combines the large-sized sound chamber with lightweight graphite construction to deliver extra-loud and deep tone that superbly counterbalances the extra treble strings. This is a 12-string guitar that is great for strumming and finger style, full of power and delicacy, and ready to hit the road. The all-graphite construction of the RainSong JM3000 makes it the only 12-string acoustic-electric guitar that is able to stay in tune at concert pitch and to withstand temperature and humidity variations; qualities that every seasoned 12-string player has long pined for.

There is no better stage than a 12-string to appreciate the qualities of all-graphite construction and Projection Tuned Layering. Rich, loud, clear and balanced, the Carbon sound of RainSong is only heightened and made more intense by the complex tones, overtones and sympathetic overtones specific to a 12-string. The stability and strength of graphite compared to wood is very high. As a result, RainSong is able to set its twelve string action low and to design its neck to be thin, comfortable and easy-to-play without fear of structural failure due to the increased tension of six extra strings.

Best of the Composites

Overall:
Great 12-string for road use, and not bad in the studio. The acoustic sound is loud, but a bit brittle. By beefing up the lower string guages just a little, it sounds bigger and has better bass. Elixir Polywebs smoothed the sound a bit, compared to the Nanowebs that came with the guitar. It sounds excellent plugged in. The big deal, however, is the advantages of the composite build. It's rugged but very light weight. And it stays in tune better than any 6 or 12 I've owned, and the action is always the same--regardless of temp or humidity changes. I can use it for acousting strolling or plugged in, indoors or out, and never worry about the action or intonation changing. As with most twelves, the neck should be wider. And for the money you pay, it should come set up better. Action is high and frets need dressing. There's no adjustable truss rod, but the neck is true enough. So you have adjust the bridge saddle and/or the nut, and dress the frets to improve the action. Messing with the bridge saddle always risks the sound of the transducer pickup. I was told Rainsong will set it up according to your specs if you ship it to them, but I haven't confirmed that. I give it only four stars across the board, mainly for the price/quality-of-setup ratio. And because it comes with a decent, but low-end hardshell case.

I received the Rainsong JM3000 12 string guitar a couple months ago. I have been very happy with it. The only two problems I have is I find it a little jangly unless plugged in and I have had trouble finding a capo that works well. That isn't much of a problem as I sing most in the open keys anyway. But sometimes I like to use a capo to change the voicing of certain keys, especially A and D

I recieved this guitar about a month ago.  I was a little bit hesitant about purchasing a non-wood guitar, but I have not been disappointed. The only problem I have is when I use a capo I get a little bit of fret buzz from the octave D string.
