Deep dreadnought body and Steve Miller approved N2 neck.
The Dreadnought is the traditional workhorse of acoustic guitar music. With a large, deep body and wide waist, RainSong's Studio Series S-DR1000N2 Acoustic-Electric Guitar has the powerful bass and ringing treble of a great rhythmic guitar, but still maintains a wonderfully balanced sound, with clear distinction among individual notes. From rhythm to lead, the DR makes its presence known. Capable of cutting through admirably in any acoustic setting, the DR is loud enough to compete with banjoes, mandolins and other traditional volume hogs.
The N2 neck is a result of an extensive, long-term collaboration with the renowned artist Steve Miller and Master Luthier John Bolin. The neck design is based on a modified "U" profile that has been popular in guitars since the 1950s. The N2 has a substantial feel that is ergonomically sound and results in better transfer of string vibration energy to the soundboard. The N2 features a truss rod that is accessible from the head stock. Graphite does not warp or bow with changes in humidity and temperature. The purpose of a truss rod in the N2 is to allow customization of the relief to suit individual preferences.
Featuring a tough, non-glossy Fine Texture finish, the Studio Series scales back on flashy appointments to deliver the signature RainSong sound and playability in a rugged, road-worthy package. Includes case.

Comments about Rainsong Studio Series S-DR1000N2 Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I have owned the S-DR1000N2 since it came out. I bought one of the NAMM demos from MacNichols Guitars. From day one - it had me!
I traveled a lot with my son's HS; Select; and college prep baseball teams. I was always paranoid about traveling with one of my "good" wood guitars. I always had 2 choices with a wood guitar: 1)Leave it in the hotel room and risk having it stolen or damaged; or 2)Take it with me in the car and let the heat/humidity destroy it.
Finally my wife suggested I get one of the carbon fiber guitars I had been wanting. So I got the S-DR1000N2. This guitar is almost indestructible. It is heat/cold & moisture resistant. I can take it out of the car when it is almost too hot to touch and it is playable - and in relative tune. The surface is scratch resistant and the neck is warp-proof and strong. I take it outside without a moments hesitation. If we are playing an outdoor gig - you will see me on the Rainsong for sure.
And if the peace of mind was not enough... the guitar has really great tone. I won't get silly and compare it to my high end Taylors or Martins, but it has a full rich tone that I truly enjoy. It is a cannon too. It puts out all the sound you need. I keep it in my rotation of guitars that I keep out on a stand by my easy chair as a daily player. I take it to all my band rehearsals. Of course it has the great Fishman Prefix +T Electronics so I can play out with it as well.
You will love the N2 neck on this guitar, developed with Steve Miller. My son's reaction to the neck - "that plays like my Les Paul." The CF neck stays straight and true, but it has a truss rod if you want to change the action a little.
One added benefit is the cool texture of the guitar's surface. It is a herringbone patterned weave and it makes a cool scratching rhythm sound when your fingertips/nails hit it.
One reviewer here loved the guitar but gave it a "1" because "it did not come with a hard shell case." I won't comment on his intelligence. The gig bag is padded & tough. It has pockets for my tuners, capos, my iPad, iPad mic stand holder and a book of lead sheets. It has 2 shoulder straps. It is the nicest gig bag I have ever used. It is great for travel and gives this tough guitar all the protection it needs.
