12 strings provide the perfect voice for the brilliant high-end and subtle overtones generated by an all-carbon body.

RainSong WS3000 Cutaway 12-String Acoustic-Electric combines delicately refined performance with solid construction to make a great 12-string guitar. The sound is full of power and delicacy, and the guitar's durable craftsmanship make it ready to hit the road.

There is no better stage than a twelve string to appreciate the qualities of RainSong all-graphite construction and Projection Tuned Layering. Rich, loud, clear and balanced, the carbon sound of RainSong is only heightened and made more intense by the complex tones, overtones and sympathetic overtones specific to a 12-string guitar. The stability and strength of graphite compared to wood is very high. As a result, RainSong is able to set its 12-string action low and design its neck to be thin, comfortable and easy to play without fear of structural failure due to the increased tension of six extra strings. Includes case.

      Comments about Rainsong WS3000 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The first thing you notice is the sound. Clear notes surrounded by rich tone. The best sounding 12 string I've ever heard, and I've played every 12 string in the store in every music shop I've been in for the last 42 years. The next thing you notice is the wonderful action. Easy and light. After that the most amazing thing is that the next time you pick it up it is still in tune. I've spent more than half my life tuning 12 string guitars but I very seldom have to tune this one. When I do, it's because I was playing it very hard and very long. When I take it out of the case it is always in exactly the same tune it was in when I put it in the case. The built in tuner is nice. The pickup/preamp sound amazing when you plug it in. You might need a sound hole block for feedback if you're playing with a loud band, but in any other situation it's perfect. I'm selling off all my other 12 strings... I never play them anymore. A side by side comparison with my Martin is the richness of tone with both of them is almost indistinguishable from each other. But the Rainsong has the distinct note there in the middle, while the Martin is a bit muddled.

      Comments about Rainsong WS3000 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I hesitated to order this WS3000 twelve stringer the first time, having never played one and having no other choice but to order. As I waited for it to be restocked and shipped I got cold feet and cancelled. I then ordered a P12 because I camp for two months every year in the deserts and mountains of the west. When it arrived I immediately fell for it. Sure it lacks a bit of those good vibrations that come from wood but when you consider all its other pros, they far out weigh its cons. As for my P12, the little thing has a big sound. It booms bigger than any other parlor/travel guitar I played; and I played them all.

I began to believe so much in the attributes of my little P12's construction and material properties I decided that I'd reorder the WS3000. Still apprehensive over spending big money on a guitar sight-unseen, I worried once again about my descision as I waited its arrival. All those fears instantly melted away as soon as I got it and started playing it. Such a clean crisp sound, no typical muddy sound of many 12's. Nothing dead or dull about this 12. Great neck profile, wide yet thin and also stiff with great sound transfer. Great string spacing across the nut too. As for the action, it came factory set at 2mm, that's pretty low considering the factory specs are usually 2.75mm for almost all manufactures. I will eventually play around with lowering that a bit more.

Sounds crazy I know. But I successfully lowered my P12 from 2.75mm to 2mm, and will eventually experiment with a bit lower. I like low action and these Rainsongs are built to handle that. Rainsong obviously pays close attention to their manufacturing methods; it's really well built, solid as a rock.

Bottom line, it's not wood folks, when I play my wooden guitars you can more feel the difference than actually hear it. Sure they're a teeny bit warmer, but they are far from bombproof and maintenance free. Think about that before you knock carbon guitars. The trade-off is well worth it. Bring on the deadly dry air from the arid western deserts, the chilly mountain nights or the sweltering humidity of a midwestern summer. My Rainsongs are ready for it; are your guitars?

      Love It!

      By JDX

      from Central California

      Comments about Rainsong WS3000 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Highly recommend this product. I suspect after I own it for a few years I will give it a 10.
I had high expectations for this guitar when I ordered it. I was not able to find one locally which is one of the reasons I ordered it from MF (return it if I was not happy with it). This guitar has beat or exceeded all of my expectations except one. Very comfortable to play. Very evenly voiced across the fret board. Pull offs and hammer ons ring clear in the midst of chords. Very clean sounding. No dead spots on the neck. Holds tune very well. Very light as well as quite loud. The only thing I am not thrilled about are the shark inlays. But once I learned they were originally made in Hawaii and ship in a hard shell case that looks like a shark (hard to explain) I decided I could live with the inlays, of course producing uncredible tones helped over come the in lays as well...
Have not owned it to long yet but the construction appears to be flawless. No irregularities in the finish. Everything fits well and operates smoothly.
I sold a Taylor T5C2 12 koa to buy this guitar. Don't regret the decision one bit. This guitar plays better, volume from high to low strings is much more even and is designed to be played acoustically if you prefer.

      Skeptism gone!

      By Steve Horlebein

      from Gulf Coast

      Comments about Rainsong WS3000 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have wanted a 12 string for 25 years. 'Been considering the WS3000 for about 4 years. I have a number of fine guitars, both acoustic and electric, Martins, Strats, Les Pauls, etc. Investing in something not made of wood kept me reluctant if not feeling sacrilegious about such a purchase...you know, nothing could resonate like fine wood. Synthetic fibers sound shallow to a trained ear, have unbalanced overtones, have limited personality.

On the other hand, I've seen and played too many fine wood 12 strings with unstable action, routine intonation problems, and dead spots. Swaying my decision, I also live in a high humidity, subtropical climate (is there any other kind?) and seldom risk any guitar on our sailboat. I liked the notion that the stability of this guitar would not give me hassles on deck either.

I've had my Rainsong for over a month and it has renewed my enthusiasm for guitar playing. It was very impressive right out of the box. The clarity, speed, and the even brightness across all strings caught my attention first. The depth was better than expected and as good as I hoped. After a few weeks when the strings were "well" broken in, it still played with the same quality sound...Still clean, crisp and accurate. Today, the overtones resinate through just as well. The neck is just as fast. The precise, accurate construction is even more obvious, especially when using a capo on aged strings. The guitar responds well to both a strong or gentle attack. As I adjust to the guitar's characteristics and my ear grows acusstomed to it's nuances, the sound remains rich, fresh, interesting, and even surprising.

The electronics create a warm sound when amplified. I am undecided yet if sympathetic notes are picked up as well through a PA system.

This was a great decision. No regrets.

One final comment: Although a carbon fiber guitar is unlikely to appreciate in value as some fine wood guitars, all of my intruments are players, not intended as collector items. No problem! I won't miss out on a lot of fun with this one.

I just received my Rainsong WS3000 a couple days ago. I was really hoping it would be everything I have read and heard about. I have not seen one or played one yet. This guitar IS everything I expected it to be.
      Workmanship is flawless!
This is a very high quality quitar. It is easily worth what I have spent on it and will last my lifetime.
