Hand-selected rosewood and hand-inlaid abalone purfling and rosette decorate this American beauty.
The Recording King ROS-647 Acoustic Guitar is perfect for fingerpickers who want amazing looks as well as amazing sounds. The body is crafted from hand-selected solid East Indian rosewood for deep mid and low presence, while the OOO-sized guitar's solid AA Sitka spruce top offers balanced tone and excellent projection.
The ROS-647 guitar's neck—hewn from a single piece of mahogany—joins the body at the 12th fret. Recording King adds hand-inlaid abalone purfling to the Century Series guitar's body and rosette for a luxurious appearance.
Fully-scalloped bracing enhances the guitar's projection and clarity. The ebony fretboard offers strength, crisp tone, and a highly desirable look. Other notable appointments include a slotted rosewood headstock, Grover butterbean tuners, bone saddle and nut, ivory and ebony dot bridge pins, a pyramid bridge, and a natural finish.
The classic 1920's design of the 12th Fret 000 ROS-647 is the link between classical guitars and modern steel string models. Very lightweight, but carefully braced for tonal warmth, the 12th fret 000 has earned a well-deserved spot in the pantheon of great-sounding guitar shapes.
The guitar's combination of the 12th fret neck joint and the resulting altered bridge creates a richer, mellower sound than many of today's brighter-sounding body shapes. Matching the rich tone and clear string separation typical of a classical guitar with the projection of a traditional steel string, the Recording King guitar's 12th fret shape gives guitarists the best of both worlds.

I play fingerstyle primarily and I ordered this guitar for the purposes of lessons and jams. I suppose I expected a certain level of quality from Recording King and I got that. What I didn't count on was the sound and volume. The tone is just great! That big thick neck and standard scale make for a robust and vintage tone. My instructor, fellow players, and I are constantly impressed by this guitar. The 1 7/8" feels great for fingerstyle and I play in both classical and "normal" position with it. This is one of the few guitars, because of the cost/performance value, that I would suggest ordering without playing. If you are after a OOO 12 fretter, then you already know what you are in for and you will NOT be disappointed.
When I received this guitar, I had hoped for it to live up to the all the rave reviews from this 12 fret series from RK. I've had the guitar for 2.5 weeks and play it around 2 hours/day. The sound is SO SWEET! I've been playing for 45 years, I own 11 guitars, 3 Gibson acoustics among other brands, this is the most responsive guitar I've owned to date. It has a very colorful woody tone, it's punchy and warm. ALSO, the nitro finish makes this guitar beautiful; I'm not a fan of the satin finish. The abalone inlay along the front binding is faultless. NOTE: These guitars out of the box will need to be set up. Intonation on the 2nd string is a little sharp at the 12th fret. A saddle adjustment will cure that. I adjusted the truss rod to give some relief to the neck; the nut is sitting the way I like it. VALUE: This guitar plays and sounds like a guitar 3-4X its price. I purchased a Silver Creek 000 HSC here from MF; it's a tight fit but OK.
