Comments about Recording King Classic Series 12 Fret OOO Acoustic/Electric Guitar:
Not a bad guitar at all. Intonates great. Stays in tune. Pickup has a bright "electric" sound to it, but judicious use of EQ yields decent results. Overall construction quality is pretty decent as well. Does it sound like my Martin 12 fret? Absolutely not. But than again, Its 1/10 the price. Nice wide nut width and wide string spacing at the bridge makes this an excellent guitar for fingerstyle stuff. The neck is chunky. Superchunky in fact. And the grain pattern of the top is pretty ugly, but I'm sure that varies from guitar to guitar, so I guess I got an ugly one, but it plays well and has no structural issues.
Overall, happy with my purchase.
Comments about Recording King Classic Series 12 Fret OOO Acoustic/Electric Guitar:
I bought this at a shop and paid a little more, but that's okay since the style and company was new to me. I'm going out of my way to write this because I'm so impressed. This model is a no-frills ax with great sound and playability for this old-timer. It's a blues machine for a finger-style player first, picker/strummer second. At the store where I bought it, the salesman and I compared it to a used $3500 Martin 000. It was almost as good. They've skimped on the extras (no neck dots, body binding, cheap tuners (which I'll replace), and put in a decent pickup that gets the job done. They also left the logo off the neck so no one will know you're not playing an old classic. If you do this for a living, I recommend this one for everyday. It's light, sounds big and has a lot of dynamic range, good, bouncy feel for finger style, punch for percussive strumming and a pickup. If you drop it you can get another one. You'll be happy, I think.
