OVERVIEW

Designed in collaboration with fingerstyle guru Eric Schoenberg with a solid Adirondack spruce top.

Recording King have taken their collaboration with fingerstyle guru Eric Schoenberg to the next level with this great-sounding model, that features the O body style with an Adirondack spruce top. Adirondack has been a prized choice for guitar tops since the 1920's. It is generally considered to be more resonant than Sitka spruce and it also has a unique wide-grain pattern that makes Adirondack guitars aesthetically unique.

For many years, Adirondack spruce was rare or unavailable; even now, guitars with Adirondack spruce tops are among the most sought-after guitar models on the market. The Recording King Studio Series 12 Fret O-Style Adirondack/Rosewood Acoustic Guitar has a 12-fret O body sizes with solid East Indian Rosewood back and sides. It has a nut width of 1-3/4" and a 25.4" scale length - perfect for fingerstyle playing or strumming, and the one-piece neck is fitted to the body with a hand-cut dovetail joint. The fretboard is made from ebony, as is the pyramid bridge. Each guitar is finished with a thin coat of nitrocellulose lacquer for resonance. The classic slotted headstock adds the appropriate element of vintage style to these tonally superior guitars.

Comments about Recording King Studio Series 12 Fret O-Style Adirondack/Rosewood Acoustic Guitar:

I've been playing for over 50 years. I play everything, am seasoned in all genres , and habitually practice for around 2 hours a day, continuously learning new styles, etc. In short I take it seriously and know my instruments, preferences and why.
I have around a dozen or so great guitars and have owned at least a couple dozen or so other equally great guitars through the years, both electric and acoustic. I favored a wonderful Martin D-35 as my primary acoustic for years, especially for professional use...pretty much perfect in the pocket tones, resonance and feel. This guitar is in that quality range...construction, same quality materials and impressive craftsmanship.
Of course this has a much smaller body, which for me is a definite plus. It is by far the most comfortable
acoustic I've ever owned because of the size, the smooth action and general all around "feel". It's truly in a category all by itself, size and all else considered.
When I first saw it hanging on the wall in the store, I passed it, stopped, backed up, tried to get a fix on it. It reminded me of the Martin D-18 and D-28 in size but more like the D-35 in construction and this is what made me take it down and try it. But it was the sound that made me take it home. It has one of the longest resonance "rings" I've ever experienced. I love this guitar...and the price is a fraction of the value
I've gotten from it so far. And it will only get better with age. Unless you're financially able to have a guitar made, I truly don't think you can do better. And even then, the sound would only be marginally better... perhaps, but I doubt it.

Comments about Recording King Studio Series 12 Fret O-Style Adirondack/Rosewood Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar sounds good and fits comfortably into my lap. It's priced low so that I can leave it in the guitar stand and just grab it an play when the spirit moves me. The sound is surprisingly good for a 000 size guitar.
But I have some construction issues. The action is good up to about the sixth fret. After that it gets too high and I don't see an adjustment anywhere even though I got an Allen wrench with it.
It didn't come with any kind of manual.
The battery compartment is flimsy and poorly designed. The piece of plastic that holds the 9 volt in place doesn't have enough spring in it and has to be pried with a sharp pbject - making changing the battery on stage an awkward chore.
All in all a decent instrument for a beginner or for just knocking around.

Comments about Recording King Studio Series 12 Fret O-Style Adirondack/Rosewood Acoustic Guitar:

After changing out the standard string set with some Giannini's and bringing down the bridge saddle I was very pleased with the playability, tone and overall response of the Recording King. For an import I am very impressed.
