Comments about Rickenbacker 330 Electric Guitar:

I've been playing guitar for over 40 years, and at one point or another, I've owned almost everything, but until recently I've never owned a Rickenbacker. I was a Gibson man (still am), I love the resonant FEEL (if that makes sense) of Gibson necks, and Rics felt stiff and unyielding to me--good, perhaps, for banging out chimey chords, but not for playing leads and expressively bending strings, as is my wont. I have always loved the look of Rics, but I always found them to be pretty much unplayable.

A couple months ago, I bought a new 4003 bass (ruby red--so pretty!) and I adore it. That tone! Like no other. Then I started playing the 6-string Rics hanging on the wall at Guitar Center--360, 330, and that little solid body, 350 or whatever they call it--and for some reason, now I found the necks quite comfortable, although definitely different from my Gibson 335.

I found myself liking the 330 more than the 360, although I do love the shark fin position markers of the 360. This 330 is so fun to play, and fun to hear the sounds you're making as you play it. It has the hi-gain pickups, not the old school toaster tops, but it still has plenty of that Rickenbacker chime if you want to go clean. But if you're like me and you lean more to crunch, it does that beautifully, too. Clear crisp sound with plenty of tonal range depending on your pickup configuration, very nice smooth feel to the neck, and of course, the look is just the best.

Comments about Rickenbacker 330 Electric Guitar:

As a child of the 60's I've always been entranced by the appearance and sound of Rickenbackers, especially the 12 strings. I owned a 12 for almost 10 years and traded it because of the narrow fingerboard, making it difficult to play in first position.
This weekend I purchased a 330 6 string, more because I was trying to complete my "collection" than thinking I'd bought an instrument I would actually gig with. Man, am I pleasantly surprised! I've only played it through my Marshall 215C (not the greatest clean tones) and love the clean sound. Ran through some if my favorite classic rock oldies. Hit the overdrive and am pleasantly surprised that this guitar can rock with overdrive, great tones albeit not as loud as a humbucker equipped guitar, but reallyu nice tone.
Rickenbacker touts the strings the guitar comes with as "Rickenbacker" strings....what an embarrassment to such a fine manufacturer. The first thing I did was to replace those with some pure nickel 10-46 (Gibson Vintage Reissue...my favorite string). Following the instructions I adjusted the truss rods (dual) to achieve an almost straight neck. That was the only adjustment I needed to make. This guitar has less fret buzz, with only my basic setup, than any of the 20 or so other quality electrics I own. It plays beautifully. The polyurethane coated African Rosewood fingerboard is really fast, for both chording and single notes. I took a while for me to get used to the radius of the neck for string bends but that is fine after two sessions of playing the guitar.
Fit and finish are perfect. A unique feature is the 5th knob allowing mix of the neck pickup with the bridge pickup when both are engaged...very useful...wish all my Gibsons had this feature.
All in all, I see myself gigging with this guitar in my classic(50's through current) rock band. In summary, I satisfied one of my guitar dreams from the collector's point of view, but also have another quite useful instrument that will be gigged often. Get one!

Comments about Rickenbacker 330 Electric Guitar:

I have both a Rickenbacker 330 six string and a 330 twelve string. Just awesome quality guitars! Seems like Rickenbacker quality is always dependable. The one piece solid maple body creates this incredible rich range of tones, especially when it is compared to other lower quality laminate guitars. You will pay more for a Rickenbacker, but you get the assured quality of an American made product. Worth every penny for the years of enjoyment you will get out of the instrument.

Comments about Rickenbacker 330 Electric Guitar:

The minute the Rickenbacker arrived, I tore open the box and plugged it in. Right away, I could hear that perfect Ric tone, even through a garbage 15w amp. The fretboard and action are pretty spot on for me.

Overall, I was incredibly thrilled with the factory setup and haven't actually changed a thing on it.

So far, the only downsides I've found are pretty common complaints. The knobs and switch do feel a little cheap, especially in comparison to the rest of the instrument. The 330 does do a pretty good job of staying in tune but now and again the B string will just wonk out. This may be due to the amount of work I put on that string (I don't feel like I do anything extra there but I've got to try and be objective) OR the fact that Colorado can be pretty volatile with guitars if they're not being humidified all the time.

At the end of the day, I got an instrument I've wanted since I was about 6 years old and I can honestly say that my next guitar will almost certainly also be a Rickenbacker.

Comments about Rickenbacker 330 Electric Guitar:

This is my second Ric (I also own a 360), and they sound almost identical, which is a tribute to Rickenbacker quality control. Both are gorgeous instruments without a flaw. Both arrived with nearly perfect setups, though I ended up putting on lighter gauge strings. I doubt I have to describe the sound to you. Most people call it "jangly", but I find it more "chimey". It's tone is as unique as a strat or tele. I love it.

While I love the Ric sound I find to get the very best out of it requires a certain amount of compression. That's not a bad thing, just a bit of a caveat if you don't already know. I know a lot of players use a Jangle Box to cover that.

To sum up, this is a pro-level instrument and there's a reason it has so many 5 star reviews.

Comments about Rickenbacker 330 Electric Guitar:

I have owned this guitar since 2006, and it is just a fabulous guitar. I own Gibsons (Les Paul and SG), a PRS McCarthy Hollowbody 1, and this guitar is right up there for tone and above them for looks. Regarding looks it is my favorite guitar to look at (Fireglo finish). Playability is excellent. Has a very unique sound. I play it through a 1976 Fender Vibrolux and a couple Marshall 2204 amps. Has a nice woody sound. Not as jangly as most people describe it. The sound is very unique. It does what it does and that is what can make your tone/sound unique. Its only limits are ones people set for it, and by that I mean you have to spend time with it to dial it in with your amp of choise. A great tube amp does it wonders. If you have limited experience with a 330 then it may not give you what you want. Be patient with it and think outside the box. It does a lot more than the Beatles.

Comments about Rickenbacker 330 Electric Guitar:

The 2014 Rick 330 is a fine instrument. Its a great guitar to own and its also more versatile than some people give it credit for.

The build quality is high and the factory setup was good. I did lower my neck pickup down for more definition. Its a matter of fine tuning to your amp arrangements. The guitar delivers the goods just learn how to use the tone, volume and blender pots to customze your sound for the amp you are using and the type of song you are playing.

I really like having a the 330 six string to go with my 660 12 string and it's a nice addition to my hord of Fender and Gibsons. Get a piece of American music history with a nice USA made Rickenbacker.
