Fair as an Acoustic but much better as an electric

The thing is built like a tank and the finish on the one I received is excellent. Its like a mirror and has no flaws of any kind. I was very surprised at the finish quality. The tuners appear to be well made and of heavy construction. They have a very bright chrome finish and they are very smooth operating. The pick guard looks ok but is somewhat cheaply made and I can tell that it will probably not stay on for very long. It is glued to the body with what appears to be a weak adhesive. This is a "peel and stick" guard. The strings are heavy gauge Daddario and need to be replaced with lighter gauge to promote easier playing. The sound when playing as an acoustic is not impressive. The lows are somewhat weak. The middle and high ranges are ok. Mine had one almost dead string. The overall sound volume is low. Using with an Amp is a different story. The Fishman electronics do a great job with this guitar. It has a completely different sound when played as an electric. I have been using it through a DigiTech RP55 Modeling Guitar Processor with a Fender Super Champ XD tube amp using the clean channel and also with an Ibanez 65 watt Sound Wave Bass amp with the tones set at neutral and with the tweeter enabled with super results. Both amps have given really great (and significantly different) sounds with this guitar. The Bass amp brings out great lows and mids and with the tweeter enabled the mid and upper ranges are further enhanced. I was very impressed with the sounds using both amps. One issue the 9 volt battery used in the Fishman electronics module is very difficult to install and replace on mine. The Fishman unit is supposed to lift straight up when unlatched allowing you to insert a battery located in a tray in the bottom of the unit. The soldered wiring in the very bottom of the Fishman unit in mine does not allow the unit to slide completely up and it takes a lot of effort to remove the old battery and replace it with a new one. Also, no instructions are included on battery replacement or operation of the electronics. Be sure to unplug the cord from your guitar when you finish playing or the battery will be dead because the Off/On switch is built in the jack! I have had a lot of fun with this guitar mostly as an electric. The sound is ok as an acoustic and very good as an electric especially if you have a processor with the amp to play around with.It is a keeper for me especially at the price.
Good price, well made, good electronics
Built like a tank, very solid, very good finish on mine, "but" heavy strings, battery replacement is difficult, pick guard is a "peel and stick", no instructions on electronics operation.
Good starter guitar for the money.

I've owned this guitar for about two years, and I was just looking for a cheap acoustic. This is my first acoustic and I didn't have much to spend. When I opened it up it already had some scratches and plenty of blemishes. The lacquer used for this guitar is very thin and cheap. It scratches very easily, the wood is also pretty thin. I've yet for anything to break on this yet. That being said the neck is starting to crack where it meets the body. It's very lightweight and has a low quality sound. I was not surprised that it didn't have outstanding tone but let down. Most other guitars within the same price range have a much better sound. The electric portion of the guitar is nothing to write home about. It's not very consistent on picking up all the strings. It gets significantly quieter around the b and e strings. The intonation of the truss rod isn't that good so the farther down you get the notes might be off. The saddle is slowly chipping just from the strings, and a piece of the nut broke off due to strings. The fretboard feels very cheap, and gets dirty fast. The fretboard dries up pretty quickly too. It gets out of tune fairly quickly. unfortunately the truss rod adjustment is done through the soundhole so you'll have to adjust with the strings removed. It is a nice looking guitar, definitely looks like a more expensive guitar. But upon a close look you can see that it looks very cheap. The pick guard stays on very well I have had no peeling yet. The jack in can hold a strap while unplugged but I do not recommend. There are no strap buttons whatsoever on this guitar. The tuning pegs are a little stiff and look/feel very cheap. The preamp sometimes cuts out and is difficult to get back on. I all around would not recommend this guitar unless you are looking for a simple guitar that you'll play every once in a blue moon. Doesn't live up to their slogan "fine instruments."

Comments about Rogue Grand Concert Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I got the first one and it must have been old stock. It had the fishman classic 4 pre-amp. It had a short in it. The neck had a hairline crack next to the body. The frets were horrible- like 20 penny nails that were pressed into the fretboard with jagged ends on both sides. I returned it. MF sent the replacement out with free upgraded delivery. This one was dang near perfect. I sanded down the bridge, changed the strings, adjusted the truss rod and it is a really nice sounding guitar. It also had the new pre amp that is featured in the photo. So I suggest if you want one call customer service and request that they inspect the one that they ship and ask for one that has the newer electronics in it.

At 2am my drunk buddy called me up & left a message "I lost my guitar in the pawn shop. If you get me a new one I will take care of it". So I got him this one. It has fair tone, & stays in tune pretty good. For the money you cant beat this deal. Everything works!

Comments about Rogue Grand Concert Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
After my Sister bought her Daughter a "Disney princess" guitar, I intervened. Seriously? "Disney Princess"? I saw this on Musician's Friend, & knew it was my duty to get it for her. it is small enough for her little hands, & the concert size is just right for her.
I am a semi-pro musician, & I played it for a couple of weeks BEFORE giving it to her.
If she learns to play, great If not, it goes back to me! Another cool guitar in my arsenal, right?
