I picked one of these things up 3 years ago in a pawn shop and fell in love with it. By the time I had the money it had already been sold. I have been trying to get one ever since. Well, it came in today and I got to tell you, I am so glad I finally bought one. One of my friends came over and played it and said he was going to get one ASAP. Don't let the name or the price fool you. I now own 3 Rogue guitars: a bass, the 000 acoustic, and the herringbone 12-string. Honestly, If any of them ever broke, I wouldnt hesitate for a second before buying another. Rogue guitars are economically priced and quality built. They are tough AND they sound good. I highly recommend these guitars for the beginner, and for the seasoned player looking for a good sounding guitar that they can go anywhere with without worrying about it. Bottom line: Get One of These Guitars, you won't regret it.
The features of this guitar include 12 strings slung between a bridge and a nut. What more features can you ask for. It has nice light colored binding and a paler colored top than pictured. But don't let that worry you, it looks nice enough. The strings that come on it are crap, switch to your preferred string set when you get it. I have Martin Marquis lights on it and they make it sing.
It has a few bumps and bruises on the finish, but what reasonably priced guitar doesn't. I've never been a stickler for looks anyway. As long as the defects don't affect the sound I'm fine with it. But honestly I think this guitar could pass most people's inspection. Put some quality strings on it and all physical defects go away and this guitar just sings. Its not a Martin, nor a Gibson, but if you want a 12 string that you can actually afford, this little thing is just the thing for you.
This is the cheapest 12 string your going to find, but it certainly isn't the worst. I've played guitars that cost much more than this that play only as good as this thing. Best valued 12 string I have found so far.

I kept this for a week before exchanging it for an Epiphone DR-212. I found it unsatisfying to play and own a guitar that just plain looked cheap. The Epiphone sounds better, though not dramatically so, but the fit and finish are so much better.
No special features
Sound quality and playability are surprisingly good for a guitar this inexpensive. However, the cheapness shows in the build quality. The finish was poorly done where the neck meets the body. The two halves of the herringbone trim did not always line up well. The color of the natural finish has a yellowish tint that I didn't like. Also, there was a lot of play in the tuners, though that was easily fixed by tightening the screws.
If you're looking to spend as little as possible on an acoustic 12-string, this is a pretty good deal. I can't say anything about long-term reliability, though, because I kept it such a short time.

Comments about Rogue Herringbone 12-String Acoustic Guitar:
WOW . . . I ordered this and received it in about 4 days (awesome). Unpacked it and was amazed at the finish on this beautiful interment. I tuned it up and the sound is incredible. This is my first 12 string guitar, I have played others Name brand guitars in stores and that friends have owned and this guitar compares well with all I have played. I have never been the type to get caught up in a Name, if it sounds good plays well and is reliable I am proud to play it/own it. Time will tell about reliability but at this time all I can say is I am so glad I made this purchase!!!

Comments about Rogue Herringbone 12-String Acoustic Guitar:
I have a 30 year old Norman 12-string. It was showing its age and needed too much work. I saw the Rogue Herringbone-12 online, read the reviews, took a chance, and ordered one. I've been playing it for about 10 months now and have come to treasure it.
When it first arrived, because of the very reasonable price, I was expecting some issues, but was pleasantly surprised. It's been a real treat. I usually use intricate finger-picking which can sometimes be a challenge on a 12-string. But this guitar has the right balance of string placement. Even the standard strings are good quality.
The blend of natural harmonics is quite remarkable (where a dominant string generates sympathetic harmonic overtones on adjacent unplayed strings . . . something that contributes to the richness of a 12-string sound).

The style of guitar strap for this guitar has the regular notch hole at the bottom, but must be tied to the guitar at the top of the bridge.

Comments about Rogue Herringbone 12-String Acoustic Guitar:
Not bad for the price but there were some minor flaws that if I would have known i would have purchased a bit better guitar. I was looking for a 12 string but couldn't afford much. All the reviews pointed to this guitar as a pretty good one for the money. The tuning keys are better than expected. so far with new strings it is staying in tune. The strings that came with the guitar were soooo old and flat that I had to change them right away. the low E string was black! The fret board in one area is slightly recessed and feels rough. But considering the small flaws it plays remarkably well though not as robust as a 500 plus guitar. I had to really adjust the neck on this guitar as the neck was so bowed back I had to loosen the truss rod alot. But after I did it played quite well. Since I have the guitar I will keep it as it works for dinking around.

Comments about Rogue Herringbone 12-String Acoustic Guitar:
First, a few things to let you know where I am coming from:
I bought the Rogue and mandolin pack a few years back. The mandolin is fun to play around with and I keep the guitar next to my computer desk in the basement where I infrequently work from home. The 6 string guitar in the pack needed lots of "Tweaks "like truss rod adjustments, sanding the saddle down very rough frets etc. It was fine to use to learn a song with, take camping, and let my drunk friends use without really worrying.
I have a 12 string that I keep in my living room and play almost daily for fun. It was a gift from my wife. Over the 14 years I have owned it I have had the frets dressed twice and a full fret replacement once, and added a pickup. I love the guitar and will never get rid of it. The cost of maintaining it has well exceeded the cost of purchase. My frets are just starting to show signs of wear again and I figured it may be worthwhile to get a second 12 string to keep in the living room for routine playing and keep this one off to the side. I did not want to spend a lot of money.
Already having experienced with Rogue I was fully expecting to do a few hours of tweaking just to get it to a satisfactory level. I was very surprised in a good way. I took it out of the box, tuned it up, and put it on the stand where my other guitar has been for years. The action at the 12 fret was respectable, tuners were fine, no sharp fret edges, no defects and the sound was OK. It is almost a perfect copy in body and style to my beloved 12 string which means that playing either is the exact same experience except for the sound.
Out of the box the sound was a bit week, tuning slipped and the strings really were not great (but not bad) . After a month, I put my regular strings (D'Addario phosphate Bronze). That pretty much solved all of my little niggles. The guitar sounds significantly better, looks great and plays great.
If you are a casual player, even a really good player, this guitar is fine for practice, jamming and song writing – get it. If you just wanted to play around with a 12 string - get it. If you are a gigging/recording musician you already know to go elsewhere.
Once I wear the frets down I'll just give it away and purchase another one (next time in black).

Comments about Rogue Herringbone 12-String Acoustic Guitar:
I'm happy with this guitar. The price was affordable, and as a back-up to my Yamahas it'll do. The action is great with one minor glitch: The fifth fret was a bit high, so I worked it down a tad with emery cloth. No more buzz. The tuning keys were a little squeaky, but Teflon lube did the trick. For the price, I'd recommend this instrument for players of any skill level.

I own an electric 6 string, and an acoustic 6 string but I wanted a 12 string, but was afraid to spend too much money on one incase I didn't like it. In steps this Rogue Herringbone! It is awesome, suprisingly much easier to play than my 6 string acoustic! Will definitely be looking into Rogue for future purchases!!!

Comments about Rogue Herringbone 12-String Acoustic Guitar:
Whatever your expectations are of this instrument, erase them all and aim higher! It's the cheapest 12-string guitar on this website and it's easily one of the best of it's kind. I had read review on musicians friend saying that the finish or the woodwork was of poor quality, but I personnaly think that those people have no idea what their talking about.. The only thing I COULD complain about is that the finish leaves alot of fingerprints (I have the black model)
Anyways, if you're lookinf for a good 1st or 2nd 12-string guitar to add to your collection, this one plays/sounds amazing and it really does stay in tune! (I've had mine for 3 weeks and I'm madly in love with it. Also, I've been playing guitar for 8 years).
