First, a few things to let you know where I am coming from:
I bought the Rogue and mandolin pack a few years back. The mandolin is fun to play around with and I keep the guitar next to my computer desk in the basement where I infrequently work from home. The 6 string guitar in the pack needed lots of "Tweaks "like truss rod adjustments, sanding the saddle down very rough frets etc. It was fine to use to learn a song with, take camping, and let my drunk friends use without really worrying.
I have a 12 string that I keep in my living room and play almost daily for fun. It was a gift from my wife. Over the 14 years I have owned it I have had the frets dressed twice and a full fret replacement once, and added a pickup. I love the guitar and will never get rid of it. The cost of maintaining it has well exceeded the cost of purchase. My frets are just starting to show signs of wear again and I figured it may be worthwhile to get a second 12 string to keep in the living room for routine playing and keep this one off to the side. I did not want to spend a lot of money.
Already having experienced with Rogue I was fully expecting to do a few hours of tweaking just to get it to a satisfactory level. I was very surprised in a good way. I took it out of the box, tuned it up, and put it on the stand where my other guitar has been for years. The action at the 12 fret was respectable, tuners were fine, no sharp fret edges, no defects and the sound was OK. It is almost a perfect copy in body and style to my beloved 12 string which means that playing either is the exact same experience except for the sound.
Out of the box the sound was a bit week, tuning slipped and the strings really were not great (but not bad) . After a month, I put my regular strings (D'Addario phosphate Bronze). That pretty much solved all of my little niggles. The guitar sounds significantly better, looks great and plays great.
If you are a casual player, even a really good player, this guitar is fine for practice, jamming and song writing – get it. If you just wanted to play around with a 12 string - get it. If you are a gigging/recording musician you already know to go elsewhere.
Once I wear the frets down I'll just give it away and purchase another one (next time in black).

I kept this for a week before exchanging it for an Epiphone DR-212. I found it unsatisfying to play and own a guitar that just plain looked cheap. The Epiphone sounds better, though not dramatically so, but the fit and finish are so much better.
      No special features
Sound quality and playability are surprisingly good for a guitar this inexpensive. However, the cheapness shows in the build quality. The finish was poorly done where the neck meets the body. The two halves of the herringbone trim did not always line up well. The color of the natural finish has a yellowish tint that I didn't like. Also, there was a lot of play in the tuners, though that was easily fixed by tightening the screws.
If you're looking to spend as little as possible on an acoustic 12-string, this is a pretty good deal. I can't say anything about long-term reliability, though, because I kept it such a short time.

Comments about Rogue Herringbone 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this so I could take it camping and leave my 40 year old Fender 12 string at home. This thing sounds awesome, even with the factory strings. Set up was pretty good, stays in tune for days at a time, and looks great to boot! If you are looking for a budget 12 string to jangle around on, do not hesitate to buy this.

I also bought the Musicians Gear deluxe dreadnought case for this and it fits like a glove.

Comments about Rogue Herringbone 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

bought mine in the fall of 2004. S/N 40402 is stamped on the neck/dovetail block . Has a nicely natural finish. I keep it tuned to "D", to avoid any bridge damage/top bulging.Guitar sounds great, even w/ the (what looks likes a very thin 2-3 ply laminated top). I use a thin pick mostly on my twelve strings and the sounds compares to more expensive ones. Construction looks good on inside and outside. Only mods I have done on this one is to install an endpin jack/ w/ preamp w/internal condenser microphone. The string height at the 12th fret is still 2MM, which for me is "ideal" for me,as I can barre chord a "Bm" chord at the 7th fret real easily. This guitar is a great buy at this price. Great sounding also!!!!!!! It maybe 10 years old, but still sounds and looks ( and the present price is the same now as it was back in 2004).

Comments about Rogue Herringbone 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar is everything I was looking for. I've been growing to widen my field in guitar for good practice, so I turned from electric to acoustic for a change. I came at the right time, because for the price, I was sold. I felt hesitant at first, as if the price would've left it with only adequate quality. But, it's has a strong, bold, yet punchy sound to it. It's very, "In your face," if you will. It requires a little more coordination and finger strength if you're coming from a 6-string, but I'd still highly recommend this.

It was however missing a strap nut, but that's no where near important in my opinion. Strap or not, the quality is awesome!

Comments about Rogue Herringbone 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

At this price tag you can't go wrong! I searched and tried many similar sounding guitars that sell for over double the price. I was hesitant should I pick this guitar or the Epiphone 212? I decided to give this one a shot, it arrived faster than expected. No cosmetic imperfections, looks great but has a minor problem in performance craftsmanship..the nut is lower than it should at the higher strings (B and E) and keeps on buzzing. I wanted to return it and by the Epiphonem but thought I can fix this problem. I loosened the strings, removed the nut and inserted a piece of plastic from an old credit card and glued things back. Now it sounds like a pro guitar with no issues. Stays in tune and always ready. I may replace the nut later with a better quality one but so far I am satisfied.

Comments about Rogue Herringbone 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

I always wanted a twelve string, but wasn't ready to invest a lot in one yet. So, I found this deal, and I don't regret getting it. It plays just fine, sounds fuller than a 6-string for accompaniment. All in all, it does what I want it too. But, it's just not a guitar that will blow you away. You have to spend A LOT more money to get that effect...

WOW . . . I ordered this and received it in about 4 days (awesome). Unpacked it and was amazed at the finish on this beautiful interment. I tuned it up and the sound is incredible. This is my first 12 string guitar, I have played others Name brand guitars in stores and that friends have owned and this guitar compares well with all I have played. I have never been the type to get caught up in a Name, if it sounds good plays well and is reliable I am proud to play it/own it. Time will tell about reliability but at this time all I can say is I am so glad I made this purchase!!!

Comments about Rogue Herringbone 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

I have a 30 year old Norman 12-string. It was showing its age and needed too much work. I saw the Rogue Herringbone-12 online, read the reviews, took a chance, and ordered one. I've been playing it for about 10 months now and have come to treasure it.

When it first arrived, because of the very reasonable price, I was expecting some issues, but was pleasantly surprised. It's been a real treat. I usually use intricate finger-picking which can sometimes be a challenge on a 12-string. But this guitar has the right balance of string placement. Even the standard strings are good quality.

The blend of natural harmonics is quite remarkable (where a dominant string generates sympathetic harmonic overtones on adjacent unplayed strings . . . something that contributes to the richness of a 12-string sound).
