I have owned this guitar for 15 months and overall I am very pleased with it. Mine came with a ding in the binding, but does not affect playability at all. I was a little angry about it because it was not a blem that I paid for. But I didn't want the hassle of sending it back. Over time one of the tuning keys did tighten up a little on me. It does stay in tune pretty well.I always tweak out the tuning before each practice anyway. If I play longer than an hour I have to tweak it again. But thats what guitars do, they go out of tune when you play them. This was my first guitar and I have been happy overall. The neck is straight as an arrow and no signs of cracks or warpage anywhere. The upper registers are slightly sharp, so it probably needs a truss rod adjustment. But I haven't taken the time to take it to a tech for that. The electronics are surprisingly good too. It sounds great plugged in.I keep lighter gauge strings on it, because the heavy gauge strings seem to bind up in the nut and make tuning more difficult. Since this guitar, I bought a Les Paul Studio, and I am planning on buying a Taylor acoustic. But I will always keep my Rogue. If your expecting a Taylor for a $***, then don't buy it.But if you just want an everyday player and work horse, then you won't find a better guitar for the money. And it does have good tone.

I was looking for a guitar to buy as a Christmas present for my daughter. Of course when it arrived, I had to check it out to make sure it was playable. It was. I listened to the tone. It was nice. I then attempted to put the 9 volt battery in. What a joke. No instruction and to pop off the top to insert it you nearly rip all the wiring out of the guitar. When I finally got it in and secured it, I plugged in the amp and the distortion from the bad connection was unbearable. If I held the guitar real still I could see that it would have been a nice sounding guitar acoustically and amplified. As it stands, it's junk. I didn't buy a new guitar so I could pay to get it repaired. Bottom line, I sent it back as fast as I could and didn't look back. MF wasted my time on this baby, now I'm still looking for a gift at the last minute.S

Great for the price

Great guitar for the price. Admittedly, I am a beginner, however my guitar has been played by more advanced guitarists and they were impressed. Change the strings, and you've got a pretty good guitar for the price. Electronics are okay, not great, but enough for anything I need.

The acoustic part of the guitar is all around good, but the electric side gave out on me only having it for a year and a half.

Decent guitar for a beginner

By Anonymous

I bought this guitar around 4 months ago as more of a campfire guitar since didn't want to spend a lot of money on something nice with a lot of potential to be damaged. I have to say, I was impressed, but not stunned. The finish is nice, and if you change the strings, it sounds halfway decent. However, the electronics can be a real pain, and I get some fret buzz on my B-string. The electronics aren't the greatest, and they go through batteries like a Hummer through fuel. Overall, it's a very good deal for a beginner, but if you've got the money and you're advanced, pick up something nicer.

It freak'n smokes!

Seriously. This guitar is so cool. Me, I have been playing for 30 years. Ok, it is not an expensive, solid wood, aged gibson or martin. But, if you want a guitar that is well made, and can hang the way you want a laminated box to hang, then this is it. In some ways, guitars like this get our best. We are unaffraid of hurting them, and we have a different approach. I love this guitar because it is so cheap, yet so well made. I change tunings with ease, amplify, and laugh at how the thing rings. Whatever. Some people won't have the fun that I am having, but remember, IT ONLY COSTS A LITTLE OVER A BILL! COME ON!!!!I love it.B

Great deal

I bought this as a practice guitar - one to toss in the car for the weekend or around the campfire. I've been pleasantly surprised at its full sound - even plugged in. The only drawback I've seen is the tuners - they don't seem to hold it in tune consistently, I'll probably upgrade these. Otherwise, you can't get a better deal - and it looks great, too!

Excellent!!

By Krackhead

Just got the guitar and what a great buy! Upon opening it up, first of all there was a suprise...a free wire! Next, I took the guitar out of its packaging which could have been done a little better...and I checked out the guitar. There were a couple minor chips on the top which were barely noticeable but could have been avoided with better shipping. Its not really something worth returning it for a new one though. I went ahead and strumed the thing and it sounded really good and much better than my old ovation celebrity deluxe. Next I tested the preamp. Getting the battery in was really odd. I never really saw a battery go in like that on an acoustic/electric and so It took me about 5 minutes to figure it out. An owners manual would have been nice...I finally figured it out and plugged it in and it sounded really good...just like some of martin's instruments do...The finish also looks really nice. It's a good thing I decided to go with the gold waranty because the electronics look like they may be a problem in the future with normal use. However, This guitar is worth the money immensely..Go out and buy one if your looking for an acoustic/electric and cannot afford it.. You won't be dissapointed.

UNBELIEVABLE

By Blu-Gras

from Guin, AL

I have been playing the gutiar for 45 years. I have owned just about every major brand. I have a Martin, Gibson, Fender and now I have a Rogue. I have to be honest and say I would just as soon play my new Rogue as any of the others. I can't believe the guality for that price. I play at Church every Sunday and Wednesday. All I wanted was just a practice guitar, but this will be the one I use all time. Thanks Musician's Friend for offering such a deal as this. your are truly a "friend" to the musician. I would recommend this guitar to anyone. Oh, what a bargain! That comes from experience.

Pros and Beginners Alike

Beyond expectations. For the price you pay, absolutely a steal. Sounds great and give it up to the person who put that extra attention to detail with the paintjob!!! I am enjoying every minute of playing with it. Only drawback so far, was the way you insert the battery, it's not as easy as it seems, but overal quality is amazingly fantastic. Highly recommended!!! Whether you're a pro or not, it's worth it!
