OVERVIEW

A marvel for its price, the traditional dreadnought design makes for one very playable guitar with a great, full tone. Perfect for strumming or fingerpicking any style of music, it's no wonder this guitar has been so highly rated by our customers. Features a genuine spruce top, die-cast tuning machines, 25-1/2" scale nato neck, and bound rosewood fretboard. It's easy to tune and stays that way. Rich, resonant sound and excellent projection and intonation make this a first guitar to be proud of. It's also great for camping or as a second guitar. Each guitar ships with genuine Martin strings for a quality sound right out of the box.

Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options.

For the price this cannot be beat. I've been playing for four decades. I was looking for a guitar that came as close in appearance to a Martin D18 I once owned, and I cannot afford one now. Rogue fits the bill with the old-style plain rectangular headstock, the standard dreadnought pick-guard. The tuners were a little sticky out of the box, since the guitar arrived tuned down, and you do need to know this: expect your RA-100D to arrive needing further setting-up. Mine came with the action a tad high and the notes at the low end did not play true because of the higher action, so the nut and saddle had to be shaved down. The neck was straight, however. If you order through Guitar Center, like I did, they will happily assist in the set-up for a reasonable charge. Once it is set up, your toes will turn to cupcakes. I could not believe the sound and playability. The tuners are in full gear (get it?) and the tone is great for a guitar at this price. I'll report back after time has passed, but right now I'm in heaven.

I got a Musicians Friend gift certificate as a Xmas gift from one of my many students (I teach guitar full time)that just about paid for this guitar. What a deal, right? They used to be, but sadly not anymore. Years ago I could recommend this very model to students and they would always be great. Guitar looks great, straight neck, good tuners, and great tone! But their manufacturer can't seem to place the nut accurately in the last two years, making it impossible to tune well. I know this because my students who have bought this very guitar all have the same issue- poor intonation, all because of the same manufacture's defect. The problem is ABSOLUTELY that they place the nut in the wrong position by about 2 mm. I know this because it is impossible to tune this model now with open strings and no capo- the dead giveaway is you can get the chords in one key to sound good, then switch to chords in another key and tuning is just awful- that indicates severe intonation problems. However when you place a capo on any fret on the guitar and then play from there, tuning with my Snark tuner is successful and tuning is PERFECT with all chords in tune in all keys- perfect intonation. After I narrowed down the problem I noticed that the nut on this guitar was placed about 2 mm. to the left too far vs. all my other identical sized, but more expensive and professional, dreadnaught sized guitars in the same scale size. That's it! So I knocked out the nut, routered out 2 mm. from the end of the now exposed fretboard to match the distance between the nut and the first metal fret with my good guitars, re glued the nut into the new position and presto- perfect intonation! Musicians friend is SO close to having a perfect and inexpensive beginner guitar in their lineup- please just call the manufacturer and ask them to recalibrate their CNC routing machines to place that nut correctly- it's a manufacture's defect that would be EASY for them to correct!

Comments about Rogue RA-100D Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I love the feel of this guitar. I am just learning to play guitar, but have been playing the bass for years and have been around a lot of guitars and guitar players. I have played Martins, Taylors, and Guilds, not to mention other less expensive guitars. In my humble, non expert opinion, this sounds almost as well as any of the name brand guitars, and way better than any of the cheaper ones I have played. For the price, I couldn't be happier.

Bought this for my niece as a first guitar. It has a very nice sound and the action is pretty good too. Plays fairly easily too. I bought this guitar at the recommendation of the Musicians Friend associate as a beginners guitar.I was looking at a lower model but spent the extra 20 to get this model and glad I did.

Comments about Rogue RA-100D Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

This is my second RA100D. Like a big dummy, I gave the first one away. I needed an inexpensive beater I could take to work and leave in the office. These Rogue RA100Ds are perfect for that. The sound, vs. build.vs. playability, vs price makes it hard to beat. Like any new guitar, It required a setup. After a good setup, new strings and bone saddle this guitar might not make it to my office. The tone is warm and broad, the fretwork was surprisingly great. Sure, There are slight cosmetic blems here and there but the important stuff was done right. If you need a guitar for someone starting out or a good knockaround you can throw in the truck for camping or whatever, you will have a hard time beating this.
