Being left handed really limited my choices of what is available and bought this guitar not knowing if it might be something I would want to continue. When it arrived I didn't expect much for the price and was very pleasantly surprised. Very good looking and sound. I have taken a couple of lessons so far and very happy, had my instructor look at the guitar and he could find no fault with it as well. Today I did order some lighter strings to see if I can push down a little better, I guess one of those beginner things.

I purchased a RG-624 as my first guitar to learn how to play. Since I wasn't sure if this was something I really wanted to pursue, I decided to purchase something inexpensive. That was a mistake. The guitar looks nice with a good solid finish, has nice sound. Mine came with D'Addario strings instead of the Martins listed in the description, but they sound good. The problem with this guitar is in the details. The action on this guitar is more than double what it should be and was killing my fingers. Compared to other models, the nut is very high. When you looked in the sound hole you could tell it was very cheaply made and while the bridge of other models is nicely shaped and smoothed, on this model it looked like a piece of scrap wood that was painted and glued on. I ended up exchanging mine for a Yamaha which has substantially better construction. If you can afford it, I'd recommend purchasing something better.

Great starter guitar

Comments about Rogue RG-624 Left-Handed Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I ordered this acoustic guitar after MUCH shopping around. This is my first guitar, just learning to play and this Rogue seems like a great one to learn on. The fit and finish is great. Tuned right up,no problems there. The only thing that would have made it FIVE stars for me are the strap buttons. It only has one. This was not in the description, so i ordered a strap that requires two strap buttons to function. I will have to buy a set of strap buttons and install the second one myself. It should have either been included (since it is only a $4 part) or should have been in the description so that I could have purchased the correct strap. Other than that one detail, I say it is a great beginner guitar at a great price. Shipping was very fast and packaging was excellent.

Comments about Rogue RG-624 Left-Handed Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

We purchased this guitar for our teenage daughter who wanted to learn to play. She is a lefty and thought we'd never be able to afford a left-handed guitar. This actually is a really great guitar for someone who is left handed and just starting out. I don't know much about guitars but it seems quite solid and she is very happy.

Received well boxed. No damage.Slight buzzing. Loosened truss rod a bit...now perfect. Light weight. Great sound.
Almost flawless finish. Compares well with entry level brand names...maybe a bit better. And...it's a " lefty "

      Decent Guitar for the Price

Comments about Rogue RG-624 Left-Handed Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I had the chance to get this as a Stupid Deal. As lefty's rarely ever go on sale, I jumped on it figuring I'd have a beater that I could leave the house with and not feel bad about it. I was pleasantly surprised when it finally arrived. The finish did have a huge blemish on the top of the guitar body encased in the clear coat which was disappointing, but my disappointment was turned to joy once I tuned it up and started playing. The guitar sounds great considering what it costs. The action was super low, and sounds great on the lower frets, but it gets an annoying ring up on the higher frets, because it's too low. This should be an easy fix with a shim under the saddle.

Overall, the high gloss finish looks great (although I'd prefer a more satin finish personally), and the overall sound of the guitar is really good. The fact that it has a solid spruce top make's a HUGE difference on the sound, so it doesn't sound as tinny as those toy guitars you can buy at department or electronic stores. It's really a player's guitar at a toy guitar's price.

I'd recommend this as a great an entry level guitar to anyone on a really tight budget, or as a back up/beater for the more seasoned player. Of course, the quality of this guitar doesn't really compare to a Gibson or Martin, but you'll never get that kind of quality under $100.00. In fact, you'll have to spend at least $300.00 to get to the next level in quality.

Comments about Rogue RG-624 Left-Handed Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I got this guitar so I would have a guitar at my parents' house when I visit. As delivered, it was very playable but not outstanding. The action was quite high and the frets were rather gritty. After shaving down both the saddle and the nut, tweaking the truss rod, and polishing the frets, I am very impressed. Neck is straight. Frets are level. Sound is good. Very pleased with the purchase. Amazing how good an instrument can be produced and sold for so little money.

Note that the comments above will apply to most guitars, even well above this price range. Certainly my Epiphones have required setup to get them playing well.

This left handed guitar was a pleasent surprise. Good tone and well made for the price. Bought it for my granddaughter so she can learn to play with the family. I am impressed with the speed it arived, less than a week, the price, and the mailing packing. It was almost in tune when it arrived and only needed a little adjustment with the first string. You will not find a better deal on a good starter gutair anywhere!

Comments about Rogue RG-624 Left-Handed Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I've been learning on an electric guitar for about 3 months now, so I'm definitely no expert, but I've handled several guitars in the past few months, so have a vague, general sort of idea of what I like.

I wanted an acoustic so I could have something easily on hand to practice on that didn't need to be plugged in all the time. As much as I like my electric, I was on the market for something more convenient to just pick up and go when I might only have 15 minutes to noodle around, and I didn't want to spend a fortune for it.

After the cheap classical guitar I first had, and all the things I was reading, I was really worried that this acoustic was going to be significantly harder to play than my electric, or sound horrible.
I've got to say I'm really pleasantly surprised. It's a pretty fantastic budget option. The sound is really warm and full, and the action is low, so a beginner doesn't really have any trouble pressing the strings.
There is a little bit of fret buzzing, but since I'm a beginner, that's as likely to be me as it is to be the guitar, honestly. I would need to be more experienced to say one way or the other, but for now, I'm assuming it's me, not the guitar.

Overall, I'm really happy with it. It sounds good, it's comfortable to play, and it was really reasonably priced. I can't think of anything else a beginner like me really needs out of a guitar.

I had thought about buying this as an office guitar so I could practice on my lunch hour. When it went on sale, I could no longer resist. The finish is orange-peeled in one spot, and there are two places where the black finish did not adhere to the edge, so there's a thin stripe of white. Since I bought this to be a "beater" anyway, I don't care. It has a truss rod. It holds a tune pretty well and has a full sound. Does the tone compare with my Walden or Ibanez? Of course not. However, it's adequate, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a lefty guitar for less. Some reviews mentioned a buzzing on the frets, but mine doesn't buzz.

Comments about Rogue RG-624 Left-Handed Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

My wife is a lefty, and always thought about learning the guitar. I had her try my right-handed acoustic (I play bass and noodle around a bit on the guitar…), but it felt more natural to her lefty. I read all the great reviews and bought her the Rogue lefty dreadnought for her birthday- She LOVES it! and it sounds Awesome!
Set up right out of the box, just tuned her up and let 'er go! Yes, the construction and inside body woods are not the best quality, but it does come with a truss-rod hex and access through the sound hole if the neck starts to bow or flex. The finish is great, the body resonates well, and i'm not getting any fret buzzing or anything. The action is a tad high, but the intonation was perfect. Tuners look to be exactly what are on my Epi AJ-15 acoustic- Hers even stays in tune better than mine! (she delights in this :)
So- Bottom Line- GET THIS GUITAR.
At this price point, I was able to set my wife up with the guitar, a Gator gig bag, two dozen picks (thin+med), four sets of Martin strings (2 light, 2 medium), a guitar stand (don't forget this!) and FastFret to keep the fingerboard nourished and the strings singing! All way under budget!
With this guitar available, ANY lefty can get started!
I'm already looking at getting her an Affinity Telecaster- lefty avail, great reviews, price is right too! Her birthday next year will be all set!
(p.s.- Don't bother with warranty- if anything DOES go wrong with it- you will probably know quickly if playing the guitar is for you or not, and can potentially upgrade;)
Thanks Musician's Friend- You guys Rock!

It is great for practice and small venues. However, the neck is not really straight! When going up the frets, the strings are more far away from the frets than closer to the nut. It does matter what strings to put on them. For the best strings it would be as follows. D'Addario, Martin, and Fender. I would recommend the D'Addario as number 1.

When I got this guitar, I instantly thought it was a beauty, the finish really looks nice. I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. The guitar sounds great, its no Martin, but it holds its own. Great looks and sound aside, the actual quality of the guitar isn't the best, but what can you expect for such a price. Overall, this guitar is great for beginners, or for guitarists who are looking for a guitar to rough around with. I was very impressed with this guitar, and its definitely worth the money, highly recommended.

If you are looking what you might get in a guitar for the price, this is a good choice.
And this is not a Martin. Going to be giving this to a charitable group that helps kids get started. They need a lefty now and then.
Well, whoever put the rosette sticker on should have had their morning coffee... It's stuck to the side of the fretboard. Not precise in it's appointments, but functional as a beginner's instrument.
Where can a person get a dreadnaught for this price in today's day and age? I suppose a pawn shop might have something equivalent or better that isn't more expensive. That would take a lot more research and time.

For the price obviously it wouldn't be acoustic/electric but would be nice.
                  I was surprised.
For the price from beginner to pro this is a nice guitar.

This was my first guitar, purchased back in 2000. If you are a blossuming Lefty-looking for a starter guitar, this is a great choice! I still write and travel with this guitar. It is built like a brick. It has accompained me to 3 different continents, and across the country. The sound is very basic but it stays in tune well. this is a large guitar, and the size may be something difficult for young beginners to over-come.

I was looking for an inexpensive left hand guitar since I wanted to learn the instrument. Many good reviews on it. I agree with them all. Great guitar for starting out, good sound.

I love it, she's my baby... I've learned many songs with her :).
Really though, it plays very nicely... stays in tune and is a veryyy good sounding guitar. For this low priced guitar ESPECIALLY for lefties, GET IT.
If you're new to guitar and a leftie then this is absolutely perfect for you, as it was for me.
