The Rogue Rocketeer guitar sounds great with an impressive range of pickup tone combinations. Smooth and fast neck with well finished frets. I set the intonation to nail the tuning, then adjusted the truss rod to improve the action. Most guitars need this basic setup. No need to adjust the pickups or work the nut.Not happy with the amp. It's okay clean, but overdrive was terrible. Customer service told me twice before I ordered that I would get the amp in the description, not the photo, so they gave me a nice deal on another small practice amp.I reduced a lot of noise by replacing the cable in the kit with a basic MF brand cable.Got this for a friend?s son. They both love the guitars looks, ease of play, and sound. Yes, there's limited range on the tremolo, but they don?t even notice. He has too much to learn and is having a blast playing without the whammy bar. Finally, I own several Rogue guitars, mandolins, etc.. I love them. I also have an American Deluxe Fat Strat, BC Rich Assassin, Razorback V255, and several Ibanez, Gibson, Schecter, Takamine, etc. guitars.Rogue guitars give better value for price than many high end brands. Buy this kit, set up the guitar properly, and tear into it!

I bought this guitar just to see how well it is, since it is gaining popularity. Of what I found out, everything in this package isn't great at all. So let's review the package.Amp: The Amp was the big let down. The overdrive in this guitar is BEYOND terrible, and i won't recommend it to anyone at all, except for a person still getting used to an amp controls. (I actually believe its great for six year olds overall)Guitar: Now, the axe. This guitar was OKAY, not good, not bad. The intonation (action) was too high, and not really a good note bender (which to me was a big let down, so I believe that this guitar is only for kids, not for a mere intermediate player. The sound is similar to that of a squier, but like I said, this guitar is OKAY, not bad. Its perfect for wannabe 80s metalOverall, I would not recommend it for an experienced player. So if you are beginner looking for a beginner guitar that is easy to learn on, or for a mere gift, I would allow you to buy it. So pretty much, this guitar is for kids, case closed.

Not too shabby...

By Onecrazyguy

from Atlanta, GA

I have been using this guitar and amp for the past six months now, and it worked fine. But last week, the amp stopped working for no apperent reason. It does not pick up half of the strings. I borrowed a friend's amp, and it works fine with it, so I know it's the amp, not the guitar. The only other problem is that if you strum really hard, the high E string gets caught under the 22 fret, because it sticks out a little. That could be filed off, though.

Best price for a beginner

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

This is one of the best guitars i have ever owned. It's amp is good the patch cord is a little screechy but other then that the amp is awesome. When i got it i opened it when i was finished i saw i had no picks to come with it but thats not bad. The strings are new so they get out of tune easy so no blame but retuning it is getting on my nerves. The case/cover is fine love the whammy and double cutaway.

Very nice guitar in my opinion.

By dutc2006

I am very happy with the quality of this guitar, especially for the price. I was hesitant to buy such an inexpensive guitar but I am very glad I did. I am a beginner and didn't have much money to spend, so I figured a more expensive guitar could wait. I imagine I will be happy with this guitar for quite some time. I adjusted the truss, set the string height and pickup height, and I think it sounds very good, using the strings that came on it. It plays very easy, and seems to be made of solid construction. All the adjustments were very easy to make. The amp doesn't have a lot of features, but it is loud enough for me. I kinda consider it free along with the guitar. It was packaged well, but had no documentation or picks, which didn't bother me. They honored their lowest price guarantee on this package for me, which made me very happy. Thanks Musicians Friend!

Well worth the price

By Smurf-.GuEE

I have owned this package for a few months now, doing some serious recording with it (can supply samples on request), and can say it is well worth what you pay. The fret ends needed filed some, but after that & the usual set-up stiff it lays totally fine & would last a beginner a few years at least.Amp was.......sad, along with the rest of the package. But for $$ shipped, you will not find a better deal in these economic times IMHO.

I just got mine and never played a lot before and some of these clowns say it is has a poor amp and others a no good tuner. Well I at least know how to tune mine without a tuner and it sounds good enough. The price is so good that if you weren't so spoiled and you had to work for the money to buy one you would say it is REAL GOOD.

Alright......for awhile

By Chris-jHjUx

Well i bought this guitar because i was a beginner needing a guitar and it the amp was really silent but it worked out but the boost button was the exact same thing s if you turned down the tone knob and then the cord was kind of weak blew out on me in a month so invest in a new cord and the guitar itself was alright except the tone knob broke after a month and probally get some new strings other then that it was a good starter overall im alot better now and i occasionally play it after i got it fixed

Best Value

By LucidStrike

from Philadelphia, PA

This was my first guitar. I'd looked all over for a great deal on a starter kit, and this one couldn't be beat. 5 watts is plenty, and I rarely even approach 11 o'clock on the volume. There's not really a way to shape the distortionon the 'Drive' button, but it does fine. The headphone input seems to need 1/4", which I don't have. Dropped the guitar once or twice, and it was fine. I've been surprised how good it sounds when I let people who actually know to play handle it. I think it's gotta be one of the best values out there.

Great Deal For Beginners!

I just picked up this guitar pack yesterday and have been playing it 24/7 for the past day and a half now. The guitar came with the bottom string broken but i went out and got some more and restrung it fast. After it was tuned I plugged it into the amp and was blown away that this amp could go so loud! even though it is quite small do not get fooled! Overall this is a great guitar and pack! 5/5 stars!
